Friendship.

That's all Amaya wanted was a friendship.

Though, everyone was scared of her and her Quirk and what she could do.

Standing next to Katsuki Bakugou at nine years old, Amaya wanted his friendship. She hadn't had a friendship in over two years and that was ripped away from her by the Villians. However, earning friendship from the blonde was going to be tough.

Even though neither of them can seem to be rid of the other, Bakugou wouldn't consider them 'friends'. He'd make fun of her hair because she was the only child he'd ever seen with greyish blue hair. Or say that Amaya looked sick because her skin was so pale or that she was too skinny.

Not that it bothered her, she didn't know any better otherwise.

On the other hand, being adopted by Inko Midoriya and having Izuku as a new brother, Amaya couldn't help but wonder if he'd be taken away from her too. She began sleeping with Izuku on the nights she would have nightmares or wake up screaming in fear that she was alone once again.

Amaya had been taken away from her family, All Might took her away from Tomura. He was her safe space, her rock, and now he was gone.

But the longer she spent with the Midoriya's, the more she realized that how she was living before was torture.

All she ever knew was pain. Whether it be physical or mental, she'd use it as a defense mechanism.

AFO had abused her for so long that functioning as a normal nine-year-old was hard for Amaya. Social cues wouldn't click, conversations often ended with her upset because she didn't know how to carry one, sleeping was also an issue as well. Mental breakdowns were a weekly thing, anger issues were also in the mix as well because no one taught her how to handle emotions.

It was tough on Inko for the past six months but she pushed through it and helped her every step of the way.

"Amaya, you're squeezing my hand too tight, let go," Bakugou said yet made no attempt to make her let go.

They stood at the doors of her new school. It was the first day of school for Amaya.

"Sorry," She whispered.

"Come on!" Izuku squealed next to them. "Aren't you excited, Ama? You get to spend all day with us now!"

Amaya took in a deep breath and moved closer to Bakugou. She shook her head and continued to stare at the front doors.

"Come on, kiddos," Y/n felt a hand on her back push her forward and she panicked. She planted her feet into the ground and pushed her weight against Mitsuki Bakugou's hand.

She shook her head and tried to run away only to have Masaru Bakugou catch her. "Hey, Amaya, it's okay," He said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Look, I know that it's scary being in a new place but it's only a few hours and then you get to come home with Katsuki later, okay?" He rubbed her back and walked inside with the two boys trailing behind him.

Amaya nodded her head against his shoulder and relaxed a bit.

"Where's your classroom, Katsuki?" He asked his son.

Katsuki pointed down the hall and his father thanked him.

Once they arrived Masaru bent down and planted Amaya's feet firmly on the ground before letting go. Katsuki and Izuku didn't hesitate to go into the classroom.

Their teacher came to the door once she saw the Masaru standing there with an unfamiliar child.

"Is everything okay, Mr. Bakugou?" She asked.

"Oh, yes," He smiled and rubbed the back of his neck. "This is Amaya Midoriya, she's new here and is scared. Would you be able to make her feel more comfortable by sitting her next to Izuku and Katsuki?"

"Of course!" She bent down to Amaya's level and smiled. "Hello there, I'm Ms. Takahashi. It's very nice to meet you, Amaya," She held her hand out and the young girl looked up at Masaru. He gently pushed her forward and Amaya took the woman's hand.

"She's a quiet one. Trying to get her to speak to anyone but those two hooligans is almost impossible," He crossed his arms and glanced down at Amaya. "Hey, kiddo," He bent down to her level. "It's going to be okay, you're safe here." Masaru hugged the little girl before standing up and bidding a do to the teacher.

"Have a good day, Mr. Bakugou!" She smiled and walked Amaya over to the seat next to Izuku. "You can sit here, okay?"

The little round tables consisted of two to four children each.

The teacher looked down at Amaya's hands and noticed the gloves. "Honey, it's against the dress code. I'm afraid you have to take them off." She frowned.

Amaya's eyes grew wide and she shook her head.

"Teach, she has to wear them," Katsuki said from her left. "She needs them because of her Quirk."

"Oh?" The woman looked down at Amaya again, who held her hands protectively against her chest. "I understand. Well then, shall we get started?"

The whole day, Amaya never left either of the boy's sides. She held one of their hands all day just to make sure they wouldn't leave her.

"Oi, Smurfette," Bakugou nudged her on the way out of school. "You're coming with me and I guess stupid Deku is coming too."

Amaya frowned. "He's not stupid, Kacchan." She managed barely above a whisper.

"Your brother doesn't have a Quirk, so of course he's stupid." He grumbled.

"It's okay, Amaya," Izuku shrugged with his usual smile. "He's said a lot worse before."

That made the girl wonder a little bit. Has he said things like that about her to Izuku? She clutched his hand and followed them down the street the Bakugou's home.

Amaya saw Mitsuki bent down in the garden. Next to the woman was a vase with a single flower sitting in it.

It was the most beautiful thing Amaya had ever seen. The pedals were as red as blood with an orange outline, yellow pollen in the middle, and a gorgeous green stem. The girl picked up the flower and studied it harshly; sniffing it, twirling it in her fingers, brushing her fingertips carefully over the pedals.

"Do you like that one?" Mitsuki said facing her.

Amaya nodded vigorously, not taking her eyes off the delicate thing. The flower was a lot like her; Delicate. Something that should be handled with great caution.

"That is a Forever Susan Asiatic Lily," She smiled at the girl. "They are quite lovely, aren't they? It matches your eyes,"

The girl nodded again and Mitsuki looked back at the boys who were chasing each other around the yard.

"You can keep it,"

Amaya smiled and hugged Mitsuki. The woman took the flower, placed it back in the vase, and yelled for the boys to come inside before leading Amaya into the house.

Now at thirteen years old, Amaya didn't understand why Katsuki stopped talking to her. He used to hug her and hold her hands even though he knew what they could do. She watched as he laughed with his new friends and her heart sunk further into her chest.

"Katsu?" She mumbled from behind him. He gave her a weird look before turning back to his friends. Amaya balled her fists.

They usually sat next to each other during lunch but this past week, he hasn't said one word to her or even spared her a glance.

"Katsuki!" She tried getting his attention. Yet again, he gave her an annoyed glance before brushing her off. Amaya felt her heart break a little more as tears welled in her eyes. She just wanted to know why he didn't want her anymore.

"Bakugou!" She pulled on his sleeve. The cold breeze suddenly became colder when his annoyed gaze fell onto hers.

"Jesus Christ, Smurf! Leave me alone for once," he pushed her hand off. "And get those things off of me! I don't need you blowing me up like you blew up your last home!" His face fell as soon as the words left his lips. "Amaya, I-"

It was too late. "Kacchan? Why would you say that?" She cocked her head and went to grab his hand but he pulled it away. "Kacchan were friends-- you told me we were best friends!"

"Kacchan? Isn't that what that nerd Deku calls you?" One of his friends piped up.

"Shut up!" He yelled flashing small explosions in his palms. "Get away from me, Smurf. Why would I ever be your best friend?"

Amaya took a step back in shock. What?

"Kac..chan?"

"Go away! I told Deku to jump off the roof, maybe you should join him!"

Amaya put her hands over her mouth. Her lungs felt like they were going to collapse in on each other as her skin paled and her eyes welled with tears. She stepped back until her legs hit the side of the water fountain.

It all happened too quickly. Bakugou stomped up to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Didn't you hear me? I said go away!" His hands shoved her backward. Amaya gasped as she tried to grab onto his sleeves but he backed away as she continued falling backward.

When she landed, her whole body was soaked. Her hair stuck her face when she sat up, her whole body shivered with the coldness of the water. Her mind exploded in questions as tears streamed down her face. The saltiness of her hurt dripped into her mouth as she sat in the fountain and sobbed.

"You're so pathetic!" Bakugou yelled. "No wonder your old family didn't want you!"

His words stung more and more with each one. "My... family?" Her words were soft as if she were speaking to herself. Bakugou loomed over her, shadowing her from the light of the cold afternoon.

"Freak." He scoffed and turned on his heels before walking away.

That night, Amaya sat in her room staring mindlessly at the grey walls that surrounded her. Her gloves lay on the floor next to her. The feeling in her chest was all too familiar to her, the same feeling she had when she was with the AFO.

Her skin crawled with guilt and sorrow while her eyes overflowed with rivers.

"Freak?" She mumbles to herself. "He's just like those other boys now..."

Amaya remembered that night from not too long ago. Those boys had hurt her... and Bakugou came to her rescue. Why was he acting those boys now?

Amaya's clothes were still damp, seeing as she hasn't changed out of them since she got home. Her mother asked what was wrong but instead of responding, she walked up to her room and hasn't come out since.
