-Introduction-

If we could start again, would that have changed the end?

The Batman Who Laughs was the strongest being the multiverse had ever felt, and yet Wonder Woman had won. As his cries of desperation and pleading faded into nothingness, Wonder Woman closed her eyes. She was fully willing to sacrifice herself to end that horrible being. As she sunk into the core of the omniverse and felt her body being disintegrated on the subatomic level, she gave one last smile and closed her eyes.

She had done it, the omniverse was saved. Her friends and partners across the many universes that remained would be free from the dark multiverse and the twisted Batmen that spawned from it.

It was over. All the pain, suffering, evil, and malice were gone from the multiverses.

An unknown amount of time later, she opened her eyes.

White.

White was all she could see for the full extent of her vision in every direction. A warm unobtrusive white surrounded her for eternity. It seemed this was the end of the line for her. She regretted nothing at all. This was to almost be expected, someone as strong as her should not exist in the omniverse. She had become everything in order to destroy the twisted Bat God. No being that powerful should directly exist among the worlds of the omniverse.

She looked down at her hands in contemplation. The gold of the forge of Worlds was gone. She had returned to her natural state, and she sighed a sigh of relief. It meant that her job was truly done.

"You are correct in your assumption. Your job has come to an end". The sound of her voice came from close in front of her, except it was different. It didn't carry the desperation, the fatigue her voice carried after the long war with the Bat God. It was younger. Purer. It carried hope and optimism.

Looking up, she saw herself, only younger and unscarred. This couldn't be herself though.

"I am the hand of creation. Others may know me as merely 'The Presence'. Everything that is came from me, and I would like to thank you for your actions. I would like to thank every hero that fought for the future, be they big or small. I truly am proud of your work. But alas, your work is not yet done" The younger version of herself said, and a vision overcame her mind.

It was of a red dragon wreathed in black energy with a twisted smile under a burning hellscape she would know only came from one being, The Batman Who Laughs. All around the dragon were the bodies of the cosmic entities. Among them were tens to hundreds of Supermen, Amazons, and even herself.

The vision receded, leaving Wonder Woman with a shocked look on her face.

"Be at ease. That is a future that has not yet come to pass, and I plan on making sure that it doesn't" The younger version of herself softly spoke stepping forward and laying a soft hand on her shoulder.

"What caused this future?" Wonder Woman asked, uncertain of the specifics.

"Allow me to explain this to you in depth" The younger version of herself said as the very reality around them warped into the small bedroom of a Japanese schoolboy.

The two stood over the bed of the young man, and The Presence looked to the boy then to her.

"This young boy is Issei Hyoudou. He's not much to look at, and even less once you meet him, but he will be the key to stopping that future from happening. I know what you're thinking, Why don't I stop it?" The Presence expounded on her thoughts.

The younger version of herself took a seat at the end of the bed and clasped her hands together.

"It's because I've quit my job as caretaker of the omniverse. That is why I have come to you. You can change the future. The Batman you fought was smart, and left his essence dormant in this universe outside of creation and it corrupted the dragon that lives inside of this boy, causing it to gain power rivaling even my own. It tore through countless realities leaving torn up space as the only reminder a universe even existed in his wake. So I ask of you, save creation just one more time" The Presence asked, looking up at her.

Wonder Woman need not think twice.

"I will do so. What is required of me this one last time?" She asked. It seemed that she had steeled herself for yet another war.
