The goal of this story is the opposite of Ichigo, I did a lot of research for this and created a character that is the exact opposite of Ichigo's character. It was a stroke of brilliance.

This character was inspired by Orohime, Rukia, Momo, Hanataro and so many others. Also Ururu before we knew she was a Mod soul type thing...

"STOP!" Samuel screamed, running with a limp away from the horrible monster that was chasing him. It looked like a minotaur, with white bone like armor and blood red eyes, it had already impaled him through the shoulder. It had come out of nowhere, he had been unable to see it until it impaled him, something about the connection seemed to take it from nonexistant to entirely visible.

With blood dripping from his shoulder, Samuel threw himself away just as the creature caught up with him, the smell of death on it's breath so strong he could almost taste it even as he flew to the side. Pain exploded down his side as he fell onto his arm, but he had bigger things to worry about, like dying. Pity it was night, and he was homeless, no one really cared about him normally, let alone agianst an invisible thing chasing him. People would jsut assume he was losing his mind, which might actually be true.

A sharp grip on his ankle stopped all thoughts and before he knew it, he was thrown away like trash, straight into the alley wall, head smacking so hard everyhting went black for a moment. He came too just in time to see the scary creature wrapping a hand around his throat, sniffing him for a moment before squeezing. Samuel could not even fight back as the light faded from his eyes...

"Now, now, a child? How cruel." A man's voice came from besides him, and in a flash of silver, the creature's entire arm fell off, freeing Samuel. The boy threw himself to the left, crawling away while struggling to breathe. The creature howled, and blood spewed from it's wound. As he moved away, Samuel barely saw the soruce of the voice, a tall man with a strange hat, green and white, with a black cloak and geta sandels. He held a sword in his hand, it was thin and extremely sharp. He oozed presence. "You okay, kid?"

Sameul shook his head. "Not really." He squeaked out.

The man sighed and in a single movement, his blade cut through the creature's bone face, killing it instantly. It dispersed into blue light, beautiful blue light.

Leaning down, the man helped Samuel onto his back. A glow green hand moved over his body and slowly Samuel actually started to feel better. "You are lucky I was here, other wise you would be dead, worse actually, your soul devoured by a hallow."

"Is that what that was?"

The man nodded. "Yes, but you do not need to know that,.." He hand glowed a soft green before moving to Samuel's head. "You will not remember any of this anyway."

And cold energy shot across Samuel's mind... only to fade away. "Was that supposed to do something?"

Urahara's eyes widened as he looked at the boy, who seemed utterly unaffected by his memory binding kido. "You really were unaffected?"

"I guess... say, can I learn that healing thing? I have no way to get medical care, I am homeless, so that would be great. Actually, so would that sword skill of yours, I don't want to get attacked by another... hallow, you called it?"

Urahara focused his mind on the boy, scanning him entirely. The boy had weak spiritual energy, just slightly high enough to see hallows. He was european, with average brown hair, an unoriginal face that was rounded with high cheekbones. He could have faded into the background, and would have had it not been for having a mind strong enough to outright ignore the kido spell that should have easily wiped his mind of the memories he just faced. With his weak power the boy should have been easily mindwiped...

"Huh... what are you, kid?"

The boy smiled. "My name is Samuel, thank you for saving me." Then the boy's stomach growled and Urahara's heart started to crack. "I am also really hungry, haven't eatn in like two days, that attack sort of drained me..." The boy sighed. "Thank you, sir... since you tried to wipe my mind, I am guessing you'd rather I do not know this stuff. I won't say anything, who would believe me anyway. I need food... goodnight, I guess."

That was enough for Urahara. "Kid, come to my shop. I'll get you some food and... maybe we can talk about... getting you a job working for me. That would get you off the streets, give you some food and maybe, just maybe, I can show you how to fight hallows."

The boy's brown eyes penetrated Urahara's soul with their intensity. "I shouldn't believe you, but the mere idea, the hope of survival, is enough for me... "

"How old are you, you talk like a philospher."

"Twelve, I read a lot when I can."

Sighing, he stood, holding out his hand. "Come on, Samuel..."

And like that, he took the boy with him to his shop, unable to not help someone who worked so hard to survive a world that really never cared...
