"That dishonest girl is persistent, I must admit." Kaalki confessed, her little arms folded.

She and her fellow kwamis were staring out of the window, observing Lila hanging outside the bakery, patiently waiting for someone.

"Poor Mairnette…" Roarr purred.

The kwamis glanced to Marinette. The girl was on her bed, curled up in a ball, her head on Alya's lap as the latter gently stroking her blue hair, shaking and muttering.

"Sooner or later, she's gonna find out I'm Ladybug and use that against me, she'll make me do things like do her homework, cover for her in class, set her up with Adrien, she's already modelling with Adrien though, but with me not there she'll have a fighting chance, who am I kidding, she'll gonna ruin my life, I'm good as DEAD!"

Alya said nothing. She just kept stroking with an angry scowl on her face.

Ever since Marinette told her she was Ladybug, Alya figured out Lila was lying about being Ladybug's 'best friend.' And not only was the Italian girl lying about everything else and taking advantage of honest and kind people, but she was also bullying Alya's best friend!

Now fuelled with the truth, Alya wanted nothing more than to get back at Lila for lying to her and for torturing her best friend.

The fox wants revenge.

"Mari…"

Her best friend slowly raised her head, her watery eyes brimming red.

"Lila wants to know your secret. Let's tell her."

Marinette sat up, looking at her best friend aghast.

"WHAT?! Alya, are you nuts?"

"Girl, I don't mean tell her you're Ladybug. I mean tell her your other secret."

"I don't have any other secrets. Everyone but Adrien knows I'm in love with him and Lila knows that."

"That's why I'm suggesting we make up a new secret for you and trick Lila! And expose her for the dirty little liar she is."

"How? What secret do I need to keep?"

Alya smirked, the corners of her lips curling like fox tails.

"Are you still good at math?"

Lila was still hanging around the bakery. For hours, she had been waiting for Marinette to come out so she can corner her and find out what other secrets she was keeping. Her secret love for the cute but oblivious Adrien wasn't working. Heck, Lila could tell him, and he would reply "I love her too. She's a great friend." Lila needed need to find out what another dark secret sweet Marinette was keeping. She needed something new, something deeper, something darker to render Marinette worthless…

"Hi!"

Lila jumped at the sudden cry. She blinked and then glanced down.

There were two little girls, standing in front of her, their big heads reaching to the middle of her stomach. One of them had pink curly hair in high pigtails, pinkish skin, a large black spot on the left of her pink eyes and wearing a pink dress with black shoes. The other had black hair in pigtails as well yet braided, black eyes, dark skin, and wearing a grey dress with short black sleeves, and black boots.

Lila was irked when they just stared at her with their big eyes.

"Who are you?" She asked.

"Are you friends with Marinette?" The girl in grey retorted back with a question.

Lila thought about it and decided to play it in her favour. "Yes, I am."

"We know everything about Marinette!" The girl in pink piped up.

"Well, I know everything about her too."

"Do you know her secret?"

"What secret?"

"Marinette…" The grey girl said.

Yes?

Has…" The pink girl followed.

Yes?

"A dog who is a math genius!" The two little girls exclaimed together.

Lila blinked. "Seriously? That's her big secret?"

"Yes!"

"Marinette loves her dog!"

"She's scared if anyone finds out, her dog would be taken away!"

"Yeah! She loves that dog!"

"Her heart will get broken!"

"She'll be so sad, she might die!"

Lila stroked her chin. "Interesting…"

Finally, a dangerous secret…

Pleased, Lila walked away without saying goodbye to the little looking back once to see the big grins on their cherub faces as they did a high five.

The next day at school, Lila cornered Marinette in the girls' restroom again.

"I know your little secret. You better do as I say or kiss your doggy goodbye!"

Marinette numbly nodded. Lila smirked and then left the restroom. Once she was gone, Alya stepped out of one of the cubicles.

"She bought it?" She answered, grinning as she witnessed the answer.

"Like Chloe on a shopping spree." Although Marinette was happy that Lila believed their lie, she still felt nervous. "I just hope your plan will work."

Alya wrapped an arm over her best friend, pulling her in.

"Just be patient, Mari."

The day after that was Saturday and everyone was in school on the weekday for the annual Math Competition. Lila was entering the math competition for two reasons.

1) To impress Gabriel.

2) To keep up the lie that she was a descendant of Einstein.

Surprisingly, Max the three-year reigning champion wasn't there.

It looked like Lila was the only one entering and could win the whole thing by default if Marinette showed up.

"What are you doing here?"

Marinette shrugged. "Got nothing else to do on a Saturday. I might as well enter."

Lila leaned in and hissed. "Remember, I know your deepest darkest secret. If you don't want your smart pet to get taken away, let me win."

Marinette stared back with a poker face. Then she turned her head around and nodded. Lila, curious, turned in the same direction and nearly had a heart attack.

"What the?"

There, at the window at the back of the room behind the audience, was a dog coated in light brown with a diamond-shaped white mark on its mouth, grey eyes and chest, and big droppy ears.

Amazingly, it nodded back at Marinette.

Lila was too stunned to say anything while the contest begun.

"Ok, everyone, welcome to this year's Math-a- lypics!"

When the math questions were asked, Lila answered one each perfectly.

Kudos to her 'hearing aid.'

But when Marinette was given an equation,

she answered it correctly as well.

Throughout the competition, the dog was giving hand signals to Marinette, and the girl translated the signals into answers.

Lila stared in shock at the dog.

Before she knew it, she and Marinette were in a tie.

She could not believe it.

"NO!"

She leapt from her chair, shouting at the referee, and pointing wildly at the window.

"No, no, no, no, no! Marinette is cheating! She's a dirty cheat! There's a dog out there giving her the answers!"

The referee stared at her in confusion while the audience burst out laughing. Marinette giggled. Her biggest fan wasn't in the audience…

"It's true! Marinette's pet dog is a math genius! The little girls with pink hair and grey clothes told me!"

The crowd laughed louder and harder.

"You must believe me! The dog is cheating for her! You must disqualify her! I win!"

Lila stomped her foot for extra-measure.

But the referee scoffed. "Oh, Lila, honestly! You must be pretty desperate to pull this act off just to win. You are hereby disqualified for poor sportsmanship. Marinette is the winner!"

The referee pushed Lila aside and grabbed Marinette's wrist to hoist her arm up to the adoring crowd.

Lila's craziness cranked up a notch.

"What? NO! No! No, no, no! Marinette did cheat! She's stupid! She has a head like a sieve! She cannot answer all those questions!"

"In spite of you believe, Marinette is a mathematical genius." Ms Bustier said from her seat.

"…What?"

"It is true. Marinette always got straight As in Math."

"But you give her detention!"

"For coming to class late or skipping overall, never for cheating or missing assignments."

"Just look outside! Her dog is at the window!"

Everyone turned their heads around to face the window behind them.

The dog was gone.

"Look outside!"

Some looked outside at her request.

No trace of the dog or any dog outside.

"You're imagining things." Ms. Mendeleiev said.

"But there is a dog out there! Marinette's dog!" Lila insisted.

"We don't have a dog, dear." Sabine replied.

"She has a dog! In secret!"

"We live in a bakery. Owning a pet is a health violation." Tom explained.

"Marinette knows the little girls!"

"The only little girls Marinette knows is Manon Chamack and my sisters." Alya spoke up as she leaned against a wall, arms folded over her chest. As if she appeared out of nowhere. "It must be a figment of your imagination. Or stress of your travelling."

The woman sitting in the seat nearest to Alya stood up.

"Traveling? What travelling?" It was Lila's mother, and she both shocked and appalled at what she was hearing. "No, she hasn't done any travelling. Oh my God, Lila, how you been lying again?"

"What you mean again? You mean she has lied before?" Mr Damocles questioned.

Lila's mother rubbed her face, overwhelmed by what she learned. "Lila, didn't you learn anything from last time? Or the time before that? Seriously, what am I going to do with you? Your head is like a sieve!"

"It is not!"

Lila was more worried about her image than the damage she made and how it was upsetting her own mother.

"I have perfect memory!"

"Lila, what is that in your ear?" The referee asked. "Is that an earpiece?"

Lila quickly covered her ears. "No, that's my hearing aid!"

"You don't need a hearing aid!" Her mother cried. "You only chose to be dead when you want too!"

The referee brushed his hair aside, revealing he had a hearing aid in his right ear.

"I been using a hearing aid for 20 years. I know this is an earpiece. You're the one cheating, not Marinette!"

The stage curtains were thrown open and out came Max, equipped with a device that was paired with Lila's earpiece.

"Lila forced me to drop out of the contest and feed her the answers! I didn't want to, but she said she'll tell everyone about my phobia!" He shouted.

"Yeah, Max is scared of-"

"ENOUGH!"

Mr Damocles's bellow silenced the hall. He glared ever so furiously at Lila.

"Lila, my office. Now!"

Lila gulped. And squeaked when her mother grabbed her ear.

"And when we get home, young lady, you are grounded!"

"You're fired."

"FIRED?!"

"Yes."

"B-B-B-B-But why?"

"Because you embarrassed yourself in front an audience and brought bad press to my company. Your actions reflect my brand. No one wants to buy clothes from a brand whose female model starring alongside my son is a stupid, cheating liar."

"But what about the world tour with Adrien?"

"I'll find another model to pair with him. Now go before I call security. Natalie, call the parents of Marinette Dupain-Cheng. See if they would give permission for their daughter to model on a world trip."

"I gotta say, Alya, that was pretty clever of you." Marinette mentioned.

She, Alya and the kwamis were celebrating Lila's exposure in Marinette's room with sweets and movies.

"You're a true fox!" Trixx complimented.

Kwamis showered Alya with nuzzles, grateful for helping their master.

Alya's plan was to fabricate a 'secret' with Marinette's hidden math skills and the power of illusions at her hands to trick Lila. First, she used illusions on Daizzi and Ziggy to appear as little girls and tell Lila that Marinette had a pet dog that was a math genius. After Lila believed the secret, Alya had Marinette enter the math contest. Then Alya used an illusion on Barkk to appear as a real dog and the latter made crazy hand gestures. Marinette pretended to cheat in the contest when really, she was the math genius. So, Lila would lash out about Marinette 'cheating' with the help of a 'dog', making people think she was nuts and exposing herself to her principal, mother, and boss. To everyone.

Now Lila was finally exposed as the dirty cheat she was.

"I couldn't thank you enough."

"It's the least I could do to get Lila off your back. I was such an awful friend to you to believe that liar."

"What about your blog? Didn't you lose followers when you took down her interview?"

"I can fix my blog anytime. But our friendship is more important."

The two best friends hugged each other, their friendship stronger than ever.
