Black Landing Pad
(Minor spoilers)
idea by Shadicgon
Now was the day, the Wave is coming.
The Heroes and their companions are doing the last checks on their gear and supplies as well as preliminary strategy meetings.
… All but one.
"Jeez. Where the hell is Danny?" Noire had a tick mark on her head "He should have been hours ago."
"He did tell us that he would participate in this Wave." told Tomoe, donning her once again pristine, and improved, Japanese war armor. "But you're right. He's awfully late."
"I bet he'll show up in a dramatic, dynamic entry, just for coolness." Gene commented "Or he just overslept. At least, he's linked to the Hourglass. He's bound to appear with us when it happens."
Noire's eye twitched "I don't care if he ends up with us. The point is that he's late! Oversleeping, distraction or just being a chuuni, unless he had a goddamn justifiable reason it won't matter! Punctuality is a virtue everyone should have. I already had enough back at home with that trolling purple pudding-devouring slowpoke of a friend that only becomes ultracompetent if she has the craving for it, if her laziness doesn't get in the way of getting things done!"
As Noire admonishing of an absent Danny deviated into a passionate rant against a certain protagonist of protagonists, she didn't take notice of a shadow that began projecting over them.
"Uh?" Tomoe turned her eyes up "Where does this shadow come from?"
"I dunno." Gene commented, taking notice of that peculiarity "But doesn't it look like it's becoming smaller?"
Indeed, the mysterious shadow was rapidly shrinking until only Noire was the only one covered in it! Confusingly enough, the shadow was taking a more avian form. Instinctively, everyone but her gave a wide berth from it.
Noire blinked, taking notice not only in the fact that everyone is getting away from her or that she seemed to not receive as much sunlight as expected but of how everyone was looking upwards.
She looked up. And regretted it. Her high agility stats due to being both a CPU and a Hero as well as a longtime of battle, made her mind and reflexes quick enough to process and recognize situations that could be dangerous for her.
Unfortunately, as the recurrent butt-monkey of her series, her luck was so freaking low that if she gazed towards the sky a second sooner, she could have saved herself.
Alas, in this situation, she could only think "Oh cra-"
Faster than what her thought could be, a ginormous projectile crashed onto the ground she occupied, raising a huge dust cloud. Everyone either cried or stayed themselves frozen in account of that unexpected event.
It was only once the cloud dissipated that everyone knew the culprit: a huge white Filolial, nay, a white Filolial Queen. And it seemed like she had passengers, as two young demi-human girls dismounted her, looking like they wanted to puke. The only person mounting her happens to be a very familiar raven haired boy of blue eyes.
"Woohoo!" Danny cheered "Jumping towards the sky with nothing but Air Shields and then freefall must be one of the best ideas ever!"
"Yaaaaaay!" The Filolial surprisingly spoke "I want to repeat it, Danny! Can I? Can I?"
"... Danny?!" After a few seconds of shock, Tomoe recovered, enough to shout in disbelief at her fellow Hero who just landed at terminal velocity.
"Oh, hello Tomoe." Danny cheerily waved as if nothing happened "Did I miss something?"
Gene could only let out an "Uh.." while looking at the ground, like many others at the scene, more specifically, at Filo's, the Filolial, legs.
The only thing Danny could see from his position was a pair of black twintails on the ground.
With a blank face, he turned to Filo "Filo, did you check if there was anyone below before landing?"
Blinking, Filo looked down "Uh? Where did this person come from?"
"This 'person' is just being crushed right now, you know?" Miraculously, 'This person' is alive! Enough to calmly(?) let out a very, very, very annoyed growl like an angry dog.
"Fuck you, author…"
… And with enough snark to surpass the 4th wall, it seems.
AN: After binging the whole first season of ROTSH, beginning to reread the manga, and starting another try at reading the novels, not to talk reading multiple fanfics, including Diligence of the Shield Hero, and playing multiple games, especially Neptunia and Outer Worlds (I just finished Edgewater. Finally!) as well as anime, tokusatsu, cartoons, not to talk about downloading a WHOLE web series from Youtube after it was announced in hiatus and fearing it could be banned due to a certain tabletop making company anti-fan animation policies, and many other forms of procrastination, it will cost me a while to start the new chapter.
Main reason is the aforementioned Diligence of the Shield Hero. I have plans to ask permission to Allen Blaster if he could allow me to use a few of his OCs because frankly, it costs me a lot creating, especially naming OCs, so I am familiarising with his work as well as sponging all ROTSH content possible to continue with the less account of lore errors possible.
This omake came thanks to reviewer Shadicgon, who asked if I could enact one of Neptunia's famous running gags. The only thing I did was to change his idea's format from script to prose and adding a few details. They may be minor, but this omake is canon so Filo is definitely in the story and I bet you all know who the demi-human girls are.
