After transforming into her harpy form, Eda looked in the mirror.
She ran her fingers through parts of her hair before she straightened out her feathers. The witch got closer to the mirror, taking a closer look at her teeth. Slightly yellow, aside from her golden tooth, but they were free of anything stuck on or between them. Normally it wouldn't matter, but she wanted to look good for Luz at least. No, she wanted to look the best for her teen lover. Eda turned around as she smiled about the plans she had that night for the two of them. Good grief, she felt like she was around Luz's age again, except it was so much better than when she actually was fourteen.
Her heart pounded against her chest, like it was going to implode and explode simultaneously, and she took a deep breath to calm it. Her smile still remained, however, and she felt excited like a lovesick teenager. Seeing nothing else she had to tidy up on physically, Eda happily sighed. It was time to talk to Luz and take her to the place she thought about. Eda cleared her throat as she walked out of the room, keeping an eye out for Luz.
It wasn't too long until she stumbled upon her in the living room, looking through what combinations she could get. Books were lying around as well, making Eda take a guess that she was reading all of that as well in the meantime. Eda knew how hard the kid was working lately and, damn, she knew Luz needed a break of some kind. Eda walked up to her and, before she could say anything, picked Luz up into the air with a little twirl. The ends of her lips stretched so much on her face that her smile could reach her ears. That alone made Eda's heart skip a beat.
"Hey, kiddo, how's my favorite girl doing?"
"Pretty well!" She pumped her fists before her enthusiasm disappeared. "I just… Don't know how to remake the door yet…"
Eda frowned. She figured Luz was thinking about that stuff, but it seemed like it was getting to her quite badly. If anything her timing was perfect as unplanned as it was.
"But enough about that," Luz shrugged it off like she didn't say anything, "I take it you're as harpy as ever considering how you're looking tonight, mi amor."
Luz faked her laughter, coming off as weak and ingenuine. Eda lightly smiled and chuckled in response.
"Of course, I mean, I have to be if I'm gonna be out with my little Luz."
"Wait, you mean…?" Luz asked but then she shook her head. "No, I can't, I can't stop now. I-"
"Nuh-uh," Eda wagged her finger, "you're taking a break now, whether you want to or not. We're spending the whole day together and we're not gonna be disturbed."
Regardless if Luz wanted to get another word out, Eda went to the front door as quickly as she could and opened the door. She looked behind her, though King wasn't anywhere in sight.
"If you need us, we'll be gone for a while!" Eda informed.
Hooty wrapped his body around them. "Have fun, lovebirds!"
"Hooty, get off."
"Will do!"
He retracted his body back into the door. Eda took a few steps forward before she spread her wings wide open. All the force went into her feet as she prepared herself to go into the air. She shot herself up into the air and started flying off, taking off without a problem. Amity ran to the spot Eda was just standing at and watched them fly away. Her hair flew upwards with the wind before it fell back down. She looked over to Hooty.
"Wrong day?"
"Yeah, it doesn't seem like they'll be back for a while!"
"There goes today's plans," Amity said to herself before going to the door. "I'm gonna stay until they get back."
"Great idea!" Hooty was practically bouncing in place.
She walked inside. "Don't even think about it."
"Yes ma'am!"
Holding onto Eda tightly, Luz looked below them.
She could mostly see the clouds, but underneath them she could see the blue ocean. Aside from that, Luz couldn't see much else. She looked back at Eda, who had a bright, golden glow to her body as she smiled. It did make her wonder where they were going, however, since she didn't think Eda said a single word about where she was taking her. At the same time, it could be a surprise and Luz didn't wanna ruin it by asking her. Despite that, it was killing her on the inside from wanting to ask her about it.
"I can't wait to bring you there," Eda suddenly started, almost like she read Luz's mind. "I used to go here all the time any time I wanted to be with someone undisturbed. Not to mention it has a nice view, I think you would like it."
It only made Luz more excited to see what Eda had in mind. The only problem would be that she didn't know how long she'd have to wait until they would get there. Thinking about it made her want to smile like she was able to go home again. She had to physically stop herself from having the biggest smile a human could have on their face.
"When do we get there?" Luz asked, even when she tried to not ask her about it.
Eda snickered. "I think we'll be there in a few minutes."
Luz couldn't wait until they got there, even if it was soon. She kissed Eda on the cheek. Her feathery face felt so soft against her lips and skin. Maybe she should ask her to be in her harpy form sometime so she could use her as a pillow, or a bed maybe. Either way, she would lay herself on Eda's body all day if she could. Luz would have to try that sometime. It felt like hardly any time passed as she stared at her face and her golden eyes.
Eda slowly descended to the ground. She put Luz down onto the grassy ground. Luz finally took her eyes off her and looked to her side. For a moment, Luz thought her heart stopped; the water here was crystal clear and sparkling, the sun was close to setting within the golden sky above them, the grass was the greenest she's ever seen, and the glowflies came out early like a bird in the crack of dawn. It was beautiful like Eda said it was. Eda placed her hand on Luz's shoulder.
"How are you likin' it, Luz?" She asked.
"It's amazing!" Luz replied before she looked at Eda. "But it'll never be as breathtaking as you."
Eda chuckled. "Flirty today, aren't we?"
"With a woman like you, how can I not be?"
"Y'know, kiddo, that's a funny way to relax."
Eda pulled her in for a kiss, slightly lifting her into the air. Luz put her hands on Eda's shoulders as she kissed back. The older woman broke the kiss before she pressed her forehead against hers. Eda placed a hand on her cheek, with it taking up a quarter of her face. Her nails smoothly went into Luz's hair, dancing along the strands. She twirled her finger and messed with her hair despite its shortness. It was lovely, she could stay there forever. However, Luz knew there were other things the two could do besides just this. She gave her a peck on the lips.
"Mind if you put me down again, Eda?" She softly asked.
"'Course not," Eda put her back on her feet, "I don't see why-"
Luz lightly tapped her nose. "Come get me!"
She ran off before Eda realized what just happened. Eda chased after her, keeping Luz in her sights. Luz looked behind her and saw how fast she was catching up to her. It didn't take long before Eda tackled her to the ground, rolling over the grass until they stopped with them being inches apart. Both of them took a moment to catch their breaths. They could feel their hearts pounding against their chests. Once they calmed down enough, they then started laughing without a care in the world.
Glowflies gathered around above them and they kept their spot well lit as they enjoyed themselves. Luz's laughter died down and she looked at Eda, who laughed for a little longer. It made her smile as she went for her hand. She looked back up to the sky above them as she held Eda's hand, that of which was no longer feathery. Her chest became full of warmth; it was really nice, even if Luz didn't want to at first.
It was exactly what she needed.
Eda carefully held Luz as she opened the door.
Amity perked her head up when she heard Eda come in. Eda sat down on the couch and gently placed Luz on her lap. Luz still held onto Eda's arm firmly despite being asleep. The woman put her finger up to her lips as a reminder; Amity nodded.
"Sorry you came here for nothin', kid." Eda apologized in a whisper.
Amity shook her head. "It's okay, it was nice being here either way."
Her eyes then widened and her ears shot up. Amity looked down to see Luz holding her hand. It made Amity's face turn red. Eda put her free hand up to her mouth, trying to not laugh. The most that came from her was a snort.
"It seems like she wants you here for the night, too."
That made Amity crack a smile. "Then I guess I'll stay."
