It took some time, but now, after the first one, here's something more consistent for y'all. Many things are introduced and it's simulteanously the start of a new arc and the introduction of a bunch of characters and plot points. I hope you will like it!
Once again, shout-out to all the authors in Infinity Crisis and I'll stop here for the intro. Enjoy!
Earth-1754, an abandoned laboratory.
It took a little bit of time but now, here it was. Everything was set up and she could start working on some projects.
A young woman with long brown hair, blue-green eyes and glasses was walking on a gigantic, deserted laboratory. She was wearing a blue tank top, red leather jeans, Converse and a black longcoat. And she was pretty much feeling herself, right now.
After all, this lab was all hers now so she had the right to be a little cocky.
She didn't knew exactly when the place was build, despite the research she did, but what she knew was that the place was full of scientists before. Were their projects useful? Probably, because otherwise, the place would have been destroyed before she could get to it. But at one point, they probably found themselves in a place when they had too much free time in their hands and were bored because the last project they did before disappearing was trying to make golf more amusing.
And so, they did experiences. No one could really tell what exactly they used but at one point, they were so dedicated to their goals that they awakened… something and before they could say « KLTPZYXM », the last rooms of the laboratory were taken over by mysterious forces and they all disappeared. Still to this day, it wasn't certain if they died or if they were just gone. What she knew is that the bodies were never found.
As such, it became deserted… until the woman entered it. She spent days looking for a place to stay, something that would be the perfect spot and when she discovered the lab, she had to won all the golf-related trials that were awaiting her. Which she did and after many hours walking into each room and defeating all the AIs who were still present, she defeated the master of the forces controlling the building: the Frog King. Being swallowed by him and taking control of his body by the inside wasn't a very pleasant experience (even if there wasn't blood) but at the end, it payed off. And so, she acquired the laboratory all for herself.
At this point, you would think that this story is a very silly one and you would be right because it's not everyday that you have to play multiple experimental variants of golf before defeating a giant mustachioed frog with a crown and a monocle in order to gain control over an immense building. But it was exactly the reason why she decided that this Earth would be her headquarters. With everything she was about to do, folks would eventually come after her. In order to delay the inevitable confrontation, it was better to hide in a place that people would not think about, especially a weird Earth like this one. Even for people like the Avengers, there was a point when your brain couldn't totally accept every weird thing you would see.
But this was a discussion for another day. Today, she had a lot of things to do and would not waste any second.
« Boys! It's time to get to work! »
As soon as she said it, a bunch of round, human-like creatures with a white/yellow-ish skin tone, conical-shaped noses and very little ears appeared.
They were all dressed in casual clothes, some of them wearing footballer' outfits, others being more like cow-boys… their only common point was that they were completely artificial, created by the scientists for their experiments. Because of that, everything they knew was playing golf and knowing how to eat, sleep and take showers on a daily basis. Fortunately for her, they could learn fast so she had to bring them up to speed about all the things that happened recently and why she needed them. So far, they were pretty good henchmen.
« Turn on the monitors. There's people I need to speak to and we also need to bring on our guests. My planning for the day is full and I want all these tasks accomplished for yesterday! »
She pointed at three of them, the ones in the footballer' outfits.
« John, Brandon & Carl, there's one of the guests who is still alone and no one is paying attention, so it's our time. I've briefed you, you know how to do it, so let's go! »
The three guys let out squeaky noises as a way of expressing their understanding of the task then grabbed strange devices similar to watches who were on a table, attached them to their wrists and pressed a button. In one second, they were gone.
The woman smiled then resumed her walking.
It took her five minutes to reach the monitors. Fortunately, the most annoying things in the lab before she could reach the Far West-like city who was the Room 01 were the various animals who were spewing non-sense. And the sea that was the Room 02. A real, actual sea with various islands scattered all over it, should we precise.
The multiple screens on all of them were already on, showing multiple Earths and the events who were taking place on it. Heroes, villains and civilians living their lives post-Dusting and doing things. Eating, seeing others, kicking asses and taking names… the usual deal. When she did her little trip inside of the Soul Stone, she was directly here to see dozens of people from various universes speaking and talking to each other and all she could think about was the inspiration it gave her. She was looking at the monitors in order to not lose it.
She typed on the keyboard.
FUNA
Instantly, one of the screens changed to another place. More specifically, a bar. Seven figures (six patrons and the barman) were drinking and chatting. A tattooed weasel with sunglasses and cropped pants, a sorceress, a space marine… yes, she thought, here they are.
Yo, she typed again. Heard you needed something.
Six hours was all she needed to give them what they wanted and get them out of the digital world. There would be, in a few hours, reports about an unknown game developer being found dead in his home but they would all be scattered around Earth-199999 already, trying to live their lives, and it would take a long time before someone would be interested in that except the cops who would have to look at that.
There was a chance it would happen, of course, but not before a long time.
So, in order to celebrate that and because it was already afternoon, her and her henchmen had a lunch. Hot-dogs for everyone. It was, aside from toasts, the only food who could be made here and she couldn't be bothered to move and order something in a fast-food. Plus, new things could happen at any time. She could easily imagine herself missing on some important stuff because she had to wait for an hour in McDonalds.
Five hours later, she could say it was not a wasted day. She spent more time trying to get some people out of the digital world. This time, it was four Japanese schoolgirls with one of them being aware of the fourth wall and not taking this fact well. The woman could certainly relate. But now that they were on another Earth, and a real one at that, she would surely get better, she was certain of it !
Her musings were interrupted by some of her minions running in her direction and making their usual squeaky noises. She stood up and turned to face them. When they do that, it means they have news.
« What's happening? »
For response, one of them (his name was Brian, if she was correct) pulled a horn from his pocket and started honking it. The noises were all she needed to understand what they wanted to say.
« Oh, that's great! I knew you wouldn't disappoint me, she said in an excited tone of voice. Now, I just need to bring in our second guest so if you'll excuse me, I'll just need some seconds… try to make him entertained just for a minute! »
The henchmen left again and the woman, without wasting one second, typed again on the keyboard another codeword.
CONTAIN
A cell appeared on another screen, inhabited by a blonde, young, slightly overweight man with green eyes in an orange jumpsuit, doing nothing. She grinned. With his powers and how they were working, he would be a perfect choice for her plans. What she needed was just to look at him, concentrate and…
The man disappeared from his cell and after that, for some seconds, there was just silence. Then, voices and another honking noises started being heard. She turned and could see two male individuals being escorted by her minions : the blonde one, sporting a worried facial expression, and a man with a grey skin, long and pointy orange horns, yellow and black eyes and messy black hair wearing long purple robes and looking completely stoned out of his mind. She couldn't tell if he was or not, but anyway, this wasn't important.
« Well, well, well, she said in an ominous tone of voice. SCP-507 and Gamzee Makara. It's an absolute pleasure to welcome you to my headquarters. I apologize for the pretty rude intrusion in your lives but I'm afraid that a more formal invitation would have been turned down. And, believe it or not… I need both of you. »
The blonde man raised an eyebrow.
« I'm not sure of what I should be worried of more, honestly, between you knowing our names or the speech in itself. »
« HoNk ! »
The woman let out a slight laugh.
« You're right, but I always thought that it helped getting across the fact that important stuff is happening and that you're now a part of something beyond you, something that many people only began to scratch the surface of. But I guess I should give you an explanation of why are you here. »
She started typing on the keyboard again and after a few seconds, the different screens on the monitors started to show a wide variety of people in a bunch of different Earths being busy living their lives.
« I don't know if you paid attention to this but recently, a shitton of people disappeared. Turned into dust without any sort of explanation why before suddenly coming back, also without explanation. Did you see it? »
« Yeah, said the SCP. It happened during one of my trips, I was in a reality where there was only dwarfs. They were pretty nice, even if I didn't explored that much. Was afraid of crushing them but they are chill. »
« Yo, BrOtHeR, said Gamzee, tHaT's DoPe! I mEaN, I dOn'T kNoW wHaT tHe FuCk ArE dWaRfS bUt I cAn SaY wItH cOnFiDeNcE tHaT i KnOw ChIlL mOtHeRfUcKeRs WhEn I sEe ThEm, Ya KnOw WhAt I mEaN? »
Grabnok' reaction was to look at the troll like he was the most stupid individual he ever encountered. Which he surely was, but it wasn't even the worst about him.
« Yeah, yeah, man, really cool, said their host. I guess that you haven't saw anything? »
« AbSoLuTeLy NoT, sIsTeR. i WaS sTiLl On My FrIdGe ThInKiNg AbOuT aLl ThE rEaLlY bAd StUfF i DiD yEaRs AgO. yOu KnOw WhAt ThIs Is, ReMiNiScInG a LoT aBoUt LiFe, WhAt I nEvEr HaD, pEoPlE wHo WeRe NeVeR hErE fOr Me, PeOpLe I bEtRaYeD… aNd I cRiEd LiKe ThE BaD sCuMbAg I tRuLy Am- »
« God, I'm already starting to regret this… yeah, great, Gamzee, I get it, you're so full of regrets for what you did, helping a time-traveling green demon with big muscles ruining the lives of all your friends, creating a fear of clowns into some human kids you never saw before, beating your girl, being angry because of a damn Insane Clown Posse video… »
« HeY, hEy, NoW, tHaT's VeRy RuDe To ReMiNd Me Of AlL tHaT, i JuSt ToLd YoU hOw MuCh I wAs DeVaStAtEd By My HoRrIbLe AcTiOnS. »
« I'm not sure I want to know more about this. »
The little intervention of 507 gave to the woman what she needed to get the conversation back on track.
« True, Grabnok ! There's already many things I have to say. Back to the original subject, the person who was responsible for these events was a purple alien named Thanos. A galactic conqueror obsessed with order and balance who was convinced that he needed to erase half of Earth' population in order to bring said balance. To put it bluntly, the dude is a pure asshole. »
Everyone nodded.
« So, he spent years collecting the Infinity Stones, which are artifacts that even the Serpent's Hand or any Jack Noir couldn't even have imagined owning in their dreams, and when he got them all, he used them to accomplish his plans. And for a time, he succeeded. But it wasn't only his Earth who was victim of the Snap. »
« ThE… sNaP? tHaT nAmE iS pReTtY lAmE, bUt ThAt'S jUsT hOw I fEeL. hOnK! »
« Well, yeah, but that's the official name so I'll name it like that. Anyway, like I said, it wasn't his universe only who saw people disappearing and turning into dust. It affected all the Multiverse, which you can currently see glimpses of in those screens. »
She typed again while the two men were silently looking at it. A video of a bunch of super-heroes fighting Thanos and other beings that they didn't recognize appeared.
« Eventually, he had his ass kicked by people from three combined Earths. Even with allies, it wasn't enough for him to definitely win. But even if he was defeated and got thrown out in an other dimension, his actions left a mark. Said mark being the walls between dimensions being weakened and a bunch of people now knowing about the wider Multiverse. Heroes and villains now being able that their respective Earths are just little fragments of something bigger than the sum of its parts, your universes included. So, yup, now, it's not just you and your friends anymore, it's new technologies, new possibilities for people to rise and shine, new people to befriend or fight, probably alternative versions of you and no, Gamzee, you can't sleep with them! »
« EvEn If I aSk NiCeLy? »
« …in this case, maybe you can. But I would not bet on it. »
« Listen, interrupted Grabnok, I bet that it's probably very cool but that doesn't really explain a lot about… why we're here. »
The host nodded.
« I was coming to it. In fact, you can already guess what are my motives just by hearing how I talk about the Multiverse. Because, if we're honest… all of this sounds pretty cool, right? Now, there's all these universes that are potentially reachable, all these heroes and villains who never met before and have now the capacity to do so, probably that people who were just your typical average, ordinary, not-a-care-in-the-world guys have the opportunity to make a difference, no matter how small it is… do you get it? »
« You… want more people to be aware of it?, asked Grabnok, his tone of voice being slightly incredulous.
« Precisely. Why do you think Thanos' actions impacted every single fucking universe on this side of Alagadda? It wasn't something he planned, at least, I… don't think, he just thought about his universe alone. But it wasn't just something that happened because the cosmos felt like it. No, it was a sign. A signal representing the start of a new age and a farewell to the good old statu quo. This Multiverse has an enormous amount of potential and we will show this to everyone, we will prove it to them! »
Her speech was more and more energetic at every word and when she turned to face the two again, it felt like she could reshape at least two or three Earths in five seconds if she wanted to.
« You, Gamzee, coming from a timeline in your homeworld that was outside of canon, being hated by every single one of your former friends and searching for a redemption you think you deserve despite the fact that all you do is being clumsy and… saying nonsense and… having sex… with Jane Crocker and she was a Nazi… »
She stopped for a time, looking like she suddenly realized she committed the biggest mistake possible, before returning to her enthusiastic attitude.
« …well, no, I'm mistaken, it's what you would have done if I didn't brought you here! But anyway, your presence here totally makes sense! A possibility for you to start a completely new life, free of the shackles of your past and able to finally seek a true blue, real redemption, and to preach to people, to send a message more important than any of us! »
She looked at 507.
« And you, Grabnok the Destroyer… I think I'll use one of your other names, even for me, this one is too stupid… you, Tommy, a skilled, if unwilling, dimension-hopper who already knew, years before the Dusting, the wonders of the infinite Earths! »
« I can't say I'm that skil- »
« Someone who already saw everything and, most importantly, who can go everywhere without anyone being worried because after all, it's what you've done since years and years, suddenly moving across dimensions and uncovering new discoveries! »
« NaH, nOw, YoU'rE jUsT bEiNg SuPeR mElOdRaMaTiC, sIsTeR. »
« Events like this should be treated with the bombast it rightfully deserve! But, back to the plans. In the table near you, you can see some devices looking like watches, exactly the ones that my boys are wearing on their wrists. The dimensional rifts hadn't been all found yet and even if the Legends of Tomorrow are already giving their… remotes to people, it's way too slow, not enough people have something like it! We'll fix it. For you… I'll sent you across the infinite Earths and your job will be to take notes on what you see, to check out what exactly these Earths are, what you saw… think of it as an extended vacation period. Then, you'll talk to the people. You'll explain everything I just explained to you and you'll show them why the Multiverse is this big, super, motherfucking miracle that will give to many people many things. You don't even have to talk about where you come from because you'll have enough experience to be perceived as trustworthy! Ya dig? »
The two guests looked at each other. SCP-507 was pretty unsure of what to think but Gamzee, by comparison, seemed more interested about it.
« I tHiNk I gEt YoUr WaY oF tHiNkInG aNd ThAt'S eXaCtLy WhAt I lIkE. i WiLl JoIn YoUr QuEsT, sIsTeR, tHe MeNtIoNs Of MiRaClEs WeRe WhAt CoNvInCeD mE. »
« Of course, Gamz'. You always loved your motherfucking miracles. Tommy? »
« I don't really know. Like, OK, there's all these new universes we can potentially go to, that's dope, but all of this seems too… easy? Like, I feel you are not saying everything about it. You're sure it's everything we have to do? »
« Yeah? I mean, yes, it's true that I forgot to say that there's people who could try to stop or mess with us but we're already prepared for this. You would probably think that I'm a random nobody who pulled all these things out of her ass and, at first sight, it's what it seems. But you'll see that I'm full of surprises. »
Another short moment of silence followed. The dimension-hopper scratched his chin before responding.
« Guess I don't totally have a choice… so OK, I'll do that. »
The woman smiled warmly.
« You took the right decision, my guy. So, now, let me declare ourselves officially associates from now on! »
Her minions expressed their joy pretty loudly and after that, the newly-formed trio spent the next thirty minutes making a video of them doing a rap-off before ordering donuts and telling the owner of the shop that no, we don't want to see a remote-controlled hole into the laboratory, we want real donuts, OK?
And that's the end! So, to explain quickly, Earth-1754 is the Earth where the events of the video games What the Golf? and Donut County happened. The characters that got out of the digital world were the ones from The Hex and Doki Doki Literature Club. If you don't know about these games (and this visual novel, in the case of DDLC), I suggest you to watch longplays of it on YouTube (plus, I played the first two games and they are absolutely dope).
SCP-507 is a creation of an anonymous Wikidot user (I shit you not, it's literally their pseudonym). Because FanFiction doesn't allow links, I can't put one to the Wiki but go check out the original article, it's pretty good!
Gamzee is a character from the webcomic Homestuck. More specifically, he's the one from the Candy timeline in The Homestuck Epilogues (which, unlike the original comic, are not that great, pretty boring and awkward at points) but, as you can guess, the events here didn't happened like in the original material.
For the rest, I hope that despite the fact that my writing style is more wacky than the other authors, you enjoyed it! The unnamed woman is, of course, the same one as in Some Twitter Videos and, if I manage to complete the arc, you'll know her true identity soon enough. I thought about putting a short scene when she pulls Kirby out of his home universe and sends him among the pink humanoids made by the Leader and used during Gamma Reactions to show her powers to Grabnok & Gamzee but thinking about it now, it wasn't necessary so it's not here.
Anyway, for the rest, I'll see you later (and apologies for writing too much xDDDDD)!
