Gotham, Arkham Asylum
William Tockman (The Clock King) stared sorely at the prison wall, he had once again been foiled by Batman (Bruce Wayne) and his impeccable time keeping. He looked at the cell opposite his, it was The Joker (Jack Napier). "Thinking of another way to foil The Bats!" The Joker, laughed maniacally at him, "You will have better luck beating The Flash." The Joker finished as laughter erupted in the neighbouring prison cells. "I wonder how The Flash keeps time," The Clock King thought as he formulated a plan.
The Message
Been a speedster was great, but it came with one side effect, poor time keeping. No matter what the situation from been on time to work, school, a meeting or a robbery no one in The Flash Family managed to keep time. Batman warned them their poor time keeping would be the downfall of them, but they just laughed at his warnings. That was, until it was too late.
The Justice League was once again waiting for Bartholomew Allen (Barry) (The Flash), "I have another meeting to get to, we might as well begin," Superman (Clark Kent) said shuffling some papers in front of him, when The Clock King appeared on the giant monitor in front of them. "It appears I am just in time," he said, putting his pocket watch away. "Clock King!" Batman growled angrily as he jumped to his feet, "What do you want?" "I am not here for you Bats," Clock King said, smiling sinisterly, "but for The Flash who appears to be late. I have placed three time bombs in Central City. If the allocate speedster does not get to the location in time to disarm the bomb, the consequences will be fatal. I will be in touch with the first location." As the screen went blank, The Flash arrived, "Sorry, I am late. What did I miss?"
Jay Garrick (First Flash) had arrived with Wallace West (Wally) (Kid Flash) in The Hall of Justice to an embraced Barry and an angry Batman. "The Clock King is not to be messed with," Batman said eyeing the three of them suspiciously making sure they were listing, "We can take him down. Right Uncle Barry?" Wally asked, looking at his mentor in admiration. "When had Robin (Richard Greyson) (Dick) stopped looking at me like that?" he thought silently. "Bats is right Wally," Barry smiled gently, "We need to take this more serious." "What do you have for us?" Jay asked in a serious tone. "The first one is for you Mr Garrick," Batman began, "Here are the coordinates. And the instructions, don't be late."
Slow Down
The bomb was planted in Central City Bank. Jay tried not to roll his eyes at this, he made it with a second to spare. "I have disarmed the bomb and gotten everyone to safety," he said over his comms. "Is there any sign of The Clock King?" Batman asked. "Negative, but I will do a quick run around to make sure, before I bring the bomb to HQ." Jay said scan the area for any signs of The Clock King.
"I am glad you're taking this seriously," Bruce said, looking at Jay, as his younger counterparts chatted to each other. "I am just an old veteran. I fought in WW2, timing is everything." Jay said, chuckling at Batman's disapproving attitude towards Barry and Wally. "What type of bomb is this?" Jay asked as Wally and Barry came closer to listen. "If this had gone off, time would have come to a complete standstill." "We would have been frozen in time," Barry said, looking startled, "Our speed would have been completely useless." "The next one is for you, Barry, it goes off tomorrow. Be on time for a change."
Act your Age
Barry had been told to act his age occasionally, but this was ridiculous. He was late and everyone in the jewellery store had been de-aged. "Everyone was de-aged," Barry said in an embarrassed voice. "I warned you about your tardiness," Batman deadpanned, "Get back to HQ, so we can find an antidote." Barry sighed as he looked around everyone in the store had been de-aged to been teenagers, once he had gotten their information and assured them they will find an antidote, grateful his speed hadn't been affected, he left.
"I hope you learnt your lesson," said an amused Batman, not feeling sorry at all for the now 13-year-old Barry. "Yes," Barry said dully, has his voice broke. "It's not funny!" Barry said, glaring at nephew, "yes, it is!" Wally said with mirth, "You going to explain to Aunt Iris how she is married to a 13-year-old!" Barry looked alarmed, "Don't worry son," Jay said in a soothing voice, "We will find an antidote." "In the meantime, we have a villain to stop." Batman said in a gravelly voice, "Wally, you are up next don't be late."
Grow Up
The Bomb had had been in a park, thankfully the park had been empty. Wally was now 35! He was older than his Uncle had been. "Kid Flash, did you make it in time?" Jay asked through the comms, "Negative," Wally said glumly, "it had the opposite effect to Uncle Barry's. I am old!" Jay just chuckled cheerfully, "when you get to be my age, then you can say you're old. Don't forget to bring the bomb with you."
Barry tired and failed not to laugh at his nephew's dilemma, but quickly stopped at a look from Batman. "What if you use the one bomb to cancel out the effects of the other?" Wally suggested, "That's not a bad idea," Barry said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "I believe we have a cure." Batman said stoically
Capturing Time
The Clock King relished in his success, if he knew betting The Flash was this easy he would have left Gotham a long time ago. He looked at the newspaper, Central City Museum (CCM) was going to host a rare painting and The Flash was going to help him option it.
"Don't you think it's odd that Clock King would be targeting another bank?" Wally asked Jay, "When the CCM is displaying a rare painting tonight?" Jay nodded in agreement, "I say we need to keep an eye on both." Barry said, agreeing with his fallow speedsters.
The CCM had just closed for the evening and Batman sat in the shadow watching Clock approaching. "Clock King is here. Did you manage to disarm the time bomb in time?" Batman asked over the comms. "Roger that." Barry replied, "Jay is taking it back to HQ. Kid Flash and I will be there soon." "Copied," Batman replied as he followed Clock King silently into the Museum.
Barry and Wally were ecstatic to be their right age and were even more determined to take down Clock King. It was the oldest bank in Central City and the building was huge. "We're going to need to split up," Jay instructed, "We have 2 minutes." Wally found the bomb, thankfully Robin taught him how to disarm a bomb. "I have it," he said to his mentors. "Excellent work kid." Barry said proudly. "I will take this to HQ," Jay said, taking the bomb from Wally. Just then, Batman spoke over the comms, "Clock King is here. Did you manage to disarm the time bomb in time?" "Roger that." Barry replied, "Jay is taking it back to HQ. Kid Flash and I will be there soon," as Barry and Wally raced to the museum.
"The painting is mine," Clock King thought as steeped forward to remove it from the wall, but found he was frozen in place. "It appears the 'clock' is frozen" Kid Flash said to Flash, "or maybe he just needs to act his age," Flash said. They both sniggered as they watched Clock King was aged up to an old man and then de-aged to a toddler. "That's enough!" Batman said sharply as Clock King was unfrozen and returned to his original age. "It looks like you ran out of time, Clock King, you're under arrest" Batman said using his bat cuffs.
Clock King had made a brief stop at Central City Prison, and been warned by the rouges to stay out of their city. And that's how he found himself in Arkham Asylum infirmary with a broken leg, courtesy of Heatwave. I will have my revenge, he vowed has he noted the nurse was late again with his medication.
