A few weeks had passed since Alice and Casey's reunion. She missed her man a lot in the days she did not spoke to him and his partner Sarah confided her he seemed to love her. She decided to forgive the lies he told her since they met; after all, he was a spy and was lying to everyone. Since she saw him in action when he rescued her from the abduction from her ex, she knew he was telling the truth.
Alice was getting along pretty well with Chuck and Sarah. This was quite good for their covers as well since they could go on double date all together. Chuck didn't have to watch his mouth not to spill his true job as the intersect around Alice because she knew everything.
She spent every day with her man last week; which was odd now that she thought about it. Normally, Casey would disappear for a few hours or a night then came back to her, needing her body. But Casey had not been the same for the last week. He had been home every day and night, not that Alice was complaining but she had been wondering what was wrong.
Tonight, the four of them were all going to the annual fair. Chuck didn't have great memories from the last time he went because that was the time he discovered Gill's truth as a Fulcrum agent. But he was willing to make better memories the group didn't have a mission that night. What a relief to have a bit of free time.
Chuck could never believe how much the grumpy agent's face was illuminated when he looked at his girl. He never thought he would see the man happy. He would even hold her hand proudly when she grabbed it while walking through the numerous kiosks.
Along the way, they met Morgan in front of a shooting stand. Joking as always, Morgan bragged about being able to hit every target and even defied Casey to the task. A side smile appeared on his face as he took him on the challenge. Alice was cheering for her man as Chuck was trying to encourage his friend as best as he could; although he knew he would be a merciless challenge.
Alice's mouth dropped open as Casey hit every target without blinking his eyes. She jumped in his arms the second he put the fake gun on the table. He easily caught her as she kissed his cheek.
Sarah's phone rang and she answered, keeping her replies short. She looked at Chuck and he nodded.
"We need to go," Sarah said before she grabbed Chuck's arm.
"Yeah, see you later," Chuck said, avoiding Casey's gaze.
Alice and Casey watched the couple leave.
"You are not going, honey?" Alice asked. The only replied he gave was a disappointed grunt. "How come they are going without you?"
"Mmh, let's go home; I need to change my mind," he replied.
"Okay, you two love birds go home and leave me here all alone," Morgan said.
Casey grunted as he grabbed Alice's hand and led her toward his Crown Victoria. He opened the door for her as he always did. Once he started the engine, his left hand rested on the wheel and his right one settled on Alice's tight. He did not say a word on the drive back to his apartment and she was beginning to worry about him; he had never been a man of many words, but she now understood his grunts to perfection. Something was bothering him and definitely it was weird Chuck and Sarah left without him.
Once inside, he walked toward the kitchen, got two glasses from the cabinet and opened a bottle of wine. Alice followed him and lifted herself on the counter. He handed her a glass and brought his to his lips before she stopped him.
"We should do a toast, don't you think?" she said.
"I don't think I have anything to celebrate," he replied sharply.
"Why do we need a special reason to do a toast? I want to raise my glass to you and I, now back together," she said looking deeply in his eyes.
His glass lightly banged hers before they took a sip of the red liquid. Alice put down her glass next to her and grabbed his belt, dragging him toward her. She could feel how tense he was just by his posture. She locked her legs behind him, keeping him in place. She ran her hands on his side then on his back, letting her fingernails scratched his skin through his black t-shirt. Slowly, she felt him relax as she kissed his neck and this small place behind his ear he liked. He also settled his glass on the counter, his now free hands roamed on her legs before grabbing her ass.
"Reporting for duty, soldier?" she teased him playfully. What she had thought was role play had been proven to be his true self, but she figured it may lightened his mood.
"Please don't say that, not tonight," he replied.
Since he was removed from his position as a colonel last week, he found it hard to adapt. He thought he could get use to anything as he had been working in very hard conditions for years now. But to see Chuck and Sarah leave without him was hard to deal with. He still was grateful to have Alice by his side. She knew he was a spy and this was a relief for him, as he didn't have to keep so many secrets from her. Now that he was not a spy anymore, he could not gather the courage to tell her. Who was he if not Colonel John Casey?
