Chapter 3

Storm and Breeze were at the kitchen bar eating breakfast the next morning and talking.

"Did you have a good chat with Dean last night?" Breeze asked as she sipped her coffee.

"We did. Man, I miss him," Storm sighed as she got a faraway look in her eyes for a moment. "Did you know Samuel Colt was a hunter back in his time?"

"You're talking about the Samuel Colt that made guns, right?"

"I am and back in the 1800's he made a special handgun that had supernatural powers and could supposedly kill anything supernatural."

"Now that is impressive and very interesting."

"Do you want to help me do some research about Samuel Colt and see what we can find out about him?"

"Hell yeah," said Breeze excitedly. "I've got my laptop in the car. I'll get it after we're finished with breakfast."

"Alright, we can research for a few hours and then head into town maybe for lunch and to do a little shopping."

"That sounds great Sis. Maybe we can hit the used bookstore too. I want to see if I can find any books for Sammy and on the supernatural for me."

"I've got one in my bedroom Sam let me borrow you can take to read. He said he'll borrow some from another hunter and close friend I can read. I think he's their mentor and like a father to them. His name is Bobby Singer."

"He sounds like an interesting person. Maybe some day we'll get to meet him."

"I hope so too," she nodded popping the last bite of toast into her mouth. "I'll put the dishes in the dishwasher while you go get your laptop. Do you remember the alarm code I gave you?"

"Yes, I won't be long." Breeze got up and headed to the bedroom for her car keys and shoes, and then outside to her car. She got her computer bag from the trunk and went back inside to the apartment. She set up at the table along with Storm and her laptop. Storm had turned on the radio and soft music was playing in the background.

"Where do we start?" Breeze asked as she booted her laptop.

"I guess find what we can on Samuel Colt and see if we can find any references to the supernatural. I don't think it'll be that easy, but we can give it a shot."

The girls began to type and pull up search engines as they found articles and stories about Samuel Colt. Some they saved for later reference and others led them to other sites. Breeze was able to delve deeper and dig up some old articles that had been long forgotten.

"Look at this Sis," Breeze spoke up as she turned her laptop so Storm could see. "This says Samuel Colt build five frontier churches in Wyoming around mid-eighteen hundred, completing them by 1861."

"While we're out, let's get a map of Wyoming and see if we can find them," Storm said. "Why don't we call it quits for now and head into town. We need a break."

"Okay, let me go to the bathroom and grab my bag," Breeze agreed marking the article to find later. She got up and hurried to the bathroom and then her bedroom. She met Storm in the living room, and they headed out to do some shopping and get lunch out.

"I wonder how Dad found out about dead man's blood and that it is poisonous to vampires?" Sam randomly asked as they followed their father down the highway.

"I don't know but it's a good thing to know for the future," Dean replied. He glanced over at Sam and saw him biting his lower lip. He always did this when he was deep in thought.

The brothers had convinced their father to let them come with him to hunt the demon who killed their mother and Sam's girlfriend. Dean even went against John's insistence to separate again, telling him that they were stronger together as a family. John didn't like it, but he gave in and agreed to let them come with him.

"Watch it," Sam cried out as John suddenly veers off the road and stopped.

"I got this," Dean fussed slamming on the brakes and pulling in behind the truck. The brothers get out as John stepped from his truck. "Dad, what wrong?" Dean asks when he sees his distraught face.

"I just got off the phone with Caleb, Jim's dead," John tells them.

"Pastor Jim?" Sam questions in disbelief.

"Yeah, he went by his place and found him in the basement with his throat slit. Caleb said there were signs of sulfur in there."

"Demons," Sam muttered.

"You think it was the demon?" Dean asked John.

"I don't know. There are two hospitals in Salvation, we're going to check them out and find every kid that was born six months ago. One of them will be the demon's next target."

"Wait, wasn't that how old I was when the demon came to my bedroom? When it killed Mom? Was it my fault Mom died, that Jessica died? Was it because of me?"

"Stop it Sammy, you were six months old, how can it be your fault?" Dean questioned.

"What does the demon want with six-month-old kids? What is he doing to them? What did he do to me?"

"Questions we don't have answers to. I'm sorry son, I wish I knew more but I don't," John answered, looking away so they wouldn't see the truth in his eyes. He did know some facts but couldn't bring himself to tell his sons. "Now let's go, we've got work to do." John got into his truck and the brothers went back to the Impala and they headed back out to find the two hospitals in Salvation.

Sam was checking the records and Dean was talking to a nurse. He finished taking notes from the files given to him before getting up head back outside. A sharp pain exploded in his head, and he winced and grabbed the wall to stay upright. Sudden pictures of a woman and a baby flashed through his mind as he gasped for air. He tried to interpret what he saw and walked away from the hospital. Another vision started forming and he concentrated on seeing everything. The sound of a train whistle echoed through a window of what looked like a nursery. He saw the outside of a white, two-story house with a sidewalk running in front of the yard and a house number. Sam pulled a map of the town from his pack and looked for train tracks near residential areas. He saw he could get there by foot and left the hospital, hurrying down the street and through a park.

Sam pulled up short when he got to the edge of the park and looked down the street at the houses. He finally spotted the one from his vision and studied it to be sure. That's when he saw a woman pushing a baby carriage down the sidewalk toward the house. He realized it was the woman from his vision and fidgeted trying to decide what to do. Sam knew he should talk to her, so he jogged across the street stopping in front of her before she got to the house.

"Hi, can I help?" Sam asked holding the baby carriage so the woman could close her umbrella.

"Thanks," she smiled at Sam.

"What a cute baby, how old is she?"

"Six months old today."

"She seems like a happy child."

"She is. Rosie doesn't ever cry. She's always happy."

"Rosie, what a sweet name. Oh, I'm Sam, I just moved in down the street."

"It's nice to meet you Sam. Well, I better get inside."

"Oh, yeah, nice to meet you too." Sam walked away as a car pulled into the driveway of the house. He watched a man get out and kiss the woman and the baby. He headed back to the Impala to tell Dean what he had found out so they could plan their next move.

Storm pulled her cell from her pocket and looked at the caller id, seeing it was Sam calling.

"I'm going to step outside," she told Breeze who was scanning through a table of books. "Hi Sam," she greeted him taking a seat on a bench outside.

"Hey Storm, how are things going?" Sam asked.

"I'm fine. I'm actually shopping with Breeze; she came over for the weekend."

"That's nice," Sam replied as he paused like he was trying to choose his words.

"Sam, I can tell something is on your mind. I'm outside away from Bree so we can talk. Tell me what's bothering you," Storm encouraged when she heard Sam hesitate.

"I'm sure Dean told you Dad is with us now."

"I knew your Dad was in the picture. How are you feeling about that? I know you and your father don't get along that well."

"Yeah, well, it was kind of tense at first and then we talked some and sort of worked some of our issues out. I learned things I didn't know. It gave me a better understanding of him."

"That's good to hear. I'm happy for you Sam," Storm praised him. "It's good that you have a good relationship with your father."

"Thanks. We are tracking the demon together. Dad worked out patterns and signs when demons were in an area. He's been tracking demon activity across the country. He thinks the one that killed Mom and Jess has surfaced again. It's really pretty impressive."

"I didn't know you were looking for the demon. Isn't that dangerous?"

"We're being careful. The demon has been targeting families with six-month-old babies. He's going after another family here in Salvation. I had a couple of visions and found them. It's a little girl named Rosie. She's six months old today, so he'll be striking tonight."

"And you're going to try and kill him tonight. Sam, are you okay? I know this has got to be unsettling for you. This is who killed your girlfriend and your mother."

"I just want that sonovabitch dead," Sam hissed not able to control his anger.

"It'll be okay Sam. Just keep a clear head and don't do something stupid. It's not worth it if we lose you in the process. You do understand that, right?" After a moment when Sam didn't answer she continued. "Sam, are you hearing me? You've got someone who is falling in love with you, and I think you love her too. Tell me you understand."

"Yeah, I understand," he said softly picturing Breeze in his mind. Storm wasn't wrong, he did love her, he was sure of it. "I'll be careful, I promise."

"That's what I want to hear. I should get back to Breeze, but if you need to talk some more, call me back later Sam."

"I will Storm. Thanks for listening and talking to me."

"Of course, little brother. I'm always here for you."

"Tell Breeze hello and I'll call her when I can."

"I will. Take care Sam. Bye."

"Bye Storm."

Storm stored her cell and went back inside to find Breeze. She wanted to tell her about talking to Sam but wasn't going to tell her the rest so she wouldn't worry. She was going to be worrying enough for them. She hoped Dean would call her so she could get a feel of what was going on. Storm was sure Dean wouldn't let Sam do something crazy and get himself killed. He would protect his brother, no matter what.

A/N: The Winchester hunter friends are dying by the hands of a demon. Sam had a vision and was able to determine the YED's next target. Can they stop him before he attacks again? Reviews/Comments would make my day. NC
