Chapter One: Orientation

Dear Autobots,

My name is Professor Violet Maple. I'm a Pokemon Researcher and have recently been made aware of the fact that none of you have had proper experience with the creatures on our planet. Professor Sumdac recently contacted me about the matter and I would like to extend a hand to you all. I would like some of you to come to a small ranch south of Detroit, my ranch. I would like to have the opportunity to educate you all on how these creatures work and possibly even have you qualify for a Trainer License. A Trainer License would allow you to tame and own a pokemon of yourselves. I would go into more detail on what my offer entails, but I would prefer you to be in person for the remainder of that. I do hope you respond to this letter and we can arrange a possible meeting time. I hope this letter reaches you in good health.

Sincerely,

Violet Maple

That was the letter that greeted the Autobots once they returned to Earth. Once they had landed on Cybertron, it felt like a whirl of events kept happening one after the other. It started with Prowl. Once dead to the world was discovered to still ever so faintly have a spark beat. It took three Earth months for Ratchet and other medics to nurse Prowl's spark back to health and is still recovering. Jazz and Arcee also now hold permanent positions amongst the Autobots on Earth, much to the now Ex-Magnus's Sentinel's dismay. The letter was waiting for them at their base when they got back and a meeting time was set for a week from then; today. Now in the driver's seat of Bumblebee, Sari, him, Optimus, Bulkhead, and Jazz, were on the road in Detroit's countryside.

"So Sari, tell us about what you know about Pokemon." Optimus inquired.

"Well, not a whole lot to be honest besides what I told you." The teenager started. "They're like animals but more powerful."

"I know that you can battle with them and compete!" Bumblebee piped in.

"Like those rock'em sock'em robots Sari showed us?" Jazz asked.

"Yes and no, these are way tougher than those." Sair smiled before smirking a small bit. "...and some are super fast."

"Ha! I doubt these things can be as fast as me!" Bumblebee laughed.

"Are some of them really big like us too?" Bulkhead asked.

"Oh yeah, I bet there are some as big as you, Bulk," Sari responded, earning an excited laugh from the SWAT vehicle. Only another minute or so passed before they pulled off to a side road with dirt, a two-storied home on the horizon. As they approached, dust started to kick up on the side and the techno-organic looked out to see a horse-like creature with a single horn on its head and flames in place of its mane and tail. Sari stared at the creature before Bumblebee revved his engines.

"I think it wants a race!" Bumblebee chimed happily.

"Bumblebee, no, we're too close to the ranch, you might break something," Optimus warned. This made the yellow soldier sigh and simply revved his engine again. The creature made a cry before charging off towards the house in the distance.

"...I so could have beaten it," Bumblebee murmured as Sari giggled a bit. The group soon made it to the front of the house where someone seemed to be waiting for them. It was a woman with tanned skin and a messy brown bun. She smiled at the group as they stopped, Bumblebee letting Sari out before transforming, the other Autobots who came following suit. The woman grabbed the sides of the chair she was in and moved forward, revealing her to be in a wheelchair, and moved to be in front of the group.

"I'm very honored to be meeting all of you." She greeted.

"Are you Professor Maple?" Optimus asked. The professor nodded and gestured for them to follow her around the side of the home. The Autobots followed to where the ranch was, revealing creatures like that fire horse among many other unique creatures.

"Dang…these are all so crazy looking." Jazz muttered. The Professor chuckled before stopping and turning.

"Indeed, Pokemon are very unique looking creatures." She started before gesturing to the animals in question. "I watch over certain breeds that are commonplace in America and tend to other wounded pokemon."

"So, you double as a doctor?" Bulkhead asked.

"That's correct. If you'd like to meet one of them, you may."

"What about the horse ones? What are those?" Bumblebee asked, noticing one ranch hand tending to a group of the same creature.

"Those are called Rapidash. They're fire types. I'm assuming you met one of them driving in?"

"Yeah! It looked like it wanted to race me." The professor giggled at Bumblebee's answer.

"That would be Echo. He loves to race against cars that drive by."

"So, you mentioned we could apply for…a trainer license?" Optimus asked. Professor Maple nodded and wheeled herself to a shed with an open wall. It seemed to be an outdoor office area. The Professor wheeled herself to the desk and grabbed a folder before wheeling back to the group.

"You certainly don't have to, of course." The professor started off. "But, a trainer license would integrate you more with Earth culture."

"Pokemon are a pretty big deal?" Bumblebee asked curiously. The professor nodded.

"Indeed. There are currently eighteen opened regions where Pokemon are a massive lifestyle, one is currently opening its borders. Pokemon are fantastic companions, talented workers, and strong competitors. Pokemon battles are a very major sport and strengthen our bonds with them even more so."

"I have to admit, I'm very interested in all this Professor." Optimus said, the other bots and Sari nodding in agreement.

"Yeah! I want one!" Bumblebee chimed in.

"Same!" Sari followed.

"That's what I was hoping you'd say." Professor Maple smiled.

"There's just one issue." Optimus started. "The drive wasn't long, but I worry we can't be too far from the city or our base."

"I understand completely." The professor wheeled herself over to Sari and handed her the folder she had previously grabbed. "That's why I offer someone who can help." Sari stared at the folder before taking it and opening it, the other Autobots kneeling down and looking over her shoulder. "I offer you Miss Namie Akamine. My apprentice and a skilled trainer with twenty years of experience under her belt. She's offered to go back to the city with you and offer education."

"Would she be crashing with us?" Jazz asked as Sari flipped through the information on the woman.

"No. For other reasons, she currently has an apartment in Detroit's city right now."

"Where would she be teaching us?" Sari asked.

"Wherever you'd all be most comfortable."

"There's a massive abandoned racetrack near the base we could go to." Bulkhead offered. Optimus seemed to think a bit longer before smiling at his excited team.

"We'd be honored, Professor." Optimus smiled, the rest of his team looking at each other with excited smiles and Sari squeaking in joy. The professor offered a small smile of her own seeing the excitement.

"I'll go ahead and let her know then"
