The team jumped as Fatima's face appeared on the screen in the gym.

"I've made a start" Fatima smiled "I've found the hospital where Deeks was taken. It's on your phone Kensi. Detective Whiting has agreed to meet Sam and Callen at the boat shed in 30 minutes"

Fatima looked round at the team "I'm still looking for Deeks' truck"

"Thanks Fatima. Keep us posted " Kensi smiled as the three agents headed out.

Rowntree turned to Fatima "The autopsy should tell us something. I'll see what they found"

Deeks heard a commotion outside the room he was being held in. He was awake but kept his eyes shut as he found the bright light painful. There was no mistaking the voice, Kensi. If Kensi was here he might find out what had happened. Hope reared it's glorious head. Hearing that familiar voice somehow helped focus his mind, and his vision. Suddenly Kensi was at his side, a police officer right behind her.

"Deeks! Are you okay?" Kensi moved to hold Deeks' hand, but she was held back by the police officer. She was shocked at how bad he looked "What happened?

"I have no idea" Deeks voice was low and raspy. "My head hurts, I just feel weird, like I had a bad dream, that's still happening" He raised his handcuffed wrist. "I guess I did something wrong, got arrested."

Kensi found herself in a dilemma. Deeks genuinely seemed unaware of what he was accused of and she didn't have the heart to tell him.

"Don't worry, we're on it. They won't let me stay long, we have to co-operate. A doctor is coming to check you over, do as he asks, he will be looking for evidence, the truth. I've brought your go-bag, he will need to take your clothes to the lab" Kensi leaned over and kissed Deeks on the lips before the police officer pulled her away. "Hang in there. I love you"

As quickly as she had arrived, Kensi had gone. Leaving Deeks clutching his go-bag like a scared child holding his teddy bear, wondering what just happened.

Ellen Whiting arrived at the boat shed at the same time as Sam and Callen. The agents wanted to put her in an Interrogation Room but thought better of it. Instead Callen handed her a coffee and pulled out a chair at the table.

"What's going on? What is happening to Deeks? Callen had so many questions, he didn't know where to start.

"We all know Deeks doesn't go around killing innocent people. Doesn't do drugs either" Sam sat beside Callen, facing Whiting.

"This has nothing to do with me" Whiting shrugged. "I called him this morning, just to tie up some loose ends. You know I shouldn't be talking to you, none of this is your concern"

"Deeks is our concern" Sam snarled.

"Where did you meet? What time did he leave?" Callen tried to keep things calm.

"He was supposed to come down to the precinct but he didn't show"

"Didn't you think that was odd?"

"Not really, I guessed you guys had a case, not the first time he didn't show" Whiting was as puzzled as the NCIS Agents, "Look, I can't tell you anything because I don't know anything. From what I heard it's an open and shut case. You don't know the crime scene do you? Well you didn't get it from me" Whiting pushed a piece of paper across the table "Good luck"

Deeks gritted his teeth as the doctor probed and prodded every part of his body. He wasn't prudish but he really didn't enjoy the extra interest the doctor took in his groin area. The taking of samples from said area he found particularly humiliating but accepted it had to be done. Photographs and blood samples were taken then Deeks was left alone. The doctor, who Deeks guessed was a CSI, had only spoken briefly to give instructions but Deeks sensed some hostility. He took that as a good sign, his senses were coming back. Although he still felt groggy and had a headache, the brief moment with Kensi had helped to calm him just a little but he still wished he knew what he was supposed to have done. His heart was sinking with the realisation that he must have done something really bad.

Sam and Callen parked beside a deserted warehouse. Two detectives were leaning against a police car while a uniformed officer untangled some crime scene tape. They had expected more to be happening at a crime scene. It seemed they had finished and were clearing up, so soon.

"Special Agent Hanna, this is Special Agent Callen, NCIS" Sam and Callen showed their ID to the nearest detective, who was not thrilled to see them.

"Nothing to see here. Everything is under control" the detective turned to Sam with a smirk.

"And you are?"

"I'm the one who pulled your guy off the victim, just too late, he'd killed her. Now if you don't mind we have reports to file"

"You just happened to be passing?" Callen asked.

"Yeah, we were supposed to meet an informant. Just got lucky I guess. Goodbye gentlemen" the two detectives climbed into their car and drove off.

"Good talk" Callen turned to Sam shaking his head.

The team regrouped back in the bullpen, to pool what little information they had.

"Deeks has no idea what happened. He's chained like a dog, and he doesn't know why. He seems pretty out of it" Kensi sounded desperate.

"Whiting doesn't admit to knowing anything about it. I don't think she's behind it. She gave us the crime scene, really was nothing to see" Callen was perplexed "Yet the detective we spoke to said he pulled Deeks off the victim."

Rowntree was the last to arrive "Sorry I'm late, that coroner is one weird dude"

"What did he say?" Kensi was anxious to know more.

"Please don't shoot the messenger" Rowntree looked apologetic, "Cause of death, knife wound to the throat, the knife found in Deeks hand was the murder weapon. No bruising, no sign of rape, but confirmation that the semen found inside the victim was Deeks'"

"So it was consensual then?" Callen was shocked.

The words hit Kensi like a punch to the stomach.
