Crashed chapter two

Alexander never imagined how he would die much to be fair. That really wasn't a topic that he thought he wouldn't need to think too hard about. However he never imagined that he would face death by a enraged dragon charging towards him at high speeds with a murderous intent would make him face his mortality. He felt time slow as Spyro drew closer, deaf to the pleas that Cynder was throwing at him, he didn't have time to think. He could only just react. And Alexander did.

He leapt out of the way and grappled for his laser pistol that he was equipped with and blindly fired. And missed. Spyro was still coming at him.

"Oh no, this looks… grim!" Alexander cried as he ran back to the safety of his wrecked ship. Unfortunately a dragon is significantly faster than a human. Alexander did not make it far. He felt a heavy force tackle him to the ground, his gun flying out of his hand.

Crying out in pain he felt the dragon bite down on his shoulder. He weakly flailed about under his tight grip the jaws of that dragon had on him. Before he could inflict any further damage he felt something knock Spyro off of him. He turned to look at what just happened. It looked like the other dragon… was protecting him.

"Spyro stop! You don't know what you're doing! Please! You'll regret this if you do!" Cynder pleaded with Spyro.

"Move!" he growled. "That thing is an ape of some kind! I don't know what in the realms it's doing here but for the sake of the land I must kill that thing! If Malefore wants some sort of ape creature in servitude again I need to kill it before it becomes a real threat!"

Cynder huffed. "Spyro. That makes no sense at all. Since when were you so quick to judge? This is totally out of character for you! Why would he bring this creature here with the intent to have it serve him if he just tried to kill it! You saw the damage on that thing's craft! Only Malefore could do something like that!"

Spyro stopped, and listened to Cynders reasoning. He eased up, muscles less tense. He bowed his head and sighed. "Ok. Cynder you may have a point. I may be acting rash. But what is it. If it's not an ape then what is it? What does Malefor want with it. It still could be dangerous!"

"Spyro. This creature is no threat to us. I know it." She said defiantly.

Spyro stared at her for what felt like minutes. He sighed once again and looked at the creature. And slowly walked over to it. And extended a paw to it.

"Get up. Sorry I tried to kill you. I wouldn't normally trust you so easily… but.. Cynder. She is a good judge of character. If she can trust you… then I suppose I can as well." Spyro said.

Alexander weakly sat up and backed up.

"N-No way! You just… tried to kill me! Why would I trust you!? I can't even begin to describe the amount of flippin pain you put my arm in! You chewed it to pieces!" He yelled.

He looked at his gun and thought about running to it. Not a chance, with how close Spyro was if he tried anything he would be on top of him in seconds. If the dragon wanted to, which seems likely, he would be able to tear his throat out.

"Look, it was a bad first impression. I don't exactly know how to apologize for almost killing someone, but I don't want to make things worse. Look just come over here and-"

Before he could finish a loud boom ripped across the room. Sending the dragon and human alike flying backwards from the explosion. Ears ringing Alexander looked at the source of the noise, and his heart dropped. Where his ship once stood was a smoldering crater. His only hope of going home was gone in a second.

"N-No! My ship! That was my only ticket outa here! What am i going to do!" He cried. Tears streamed down his face. His insides churning he felt everything he knew collapse in on him. There was no hope left. The ship was gone, he was on a hostile world, with what appears to be two eager dragons that wanted to kill him in the same room even. He couldn't take it. His sobs wracked his entire body and he shook with each sob.

Cynder was checking on Spyro. He looked dazed. The explosion rattled him and the impact that sent him flying took him completely by surprise. Spyro weakly got up to his feet and looked at the sobbing human and the wreckage that was the source of his despair.

"Hey Cynder." Spyro said softly, "I think you're right… Malefore wouldn't do this to his servant intentionally. And… I think I really really messed up."

Alexander felt something gently nuzzle him. In his mind he didn't register it. He felt it again and finally looked up. Cynder the dragon was staring at him, a sad look plastered on her muzzle.

"Hey.. I know that well… things look bad right now, but, We can help you. Come on get up if you can. We didn't get off on the right paw here but i'm certain we can make things right, if you give us a chance that is." Cynder informed him.

"Come on… how can you possibly help me now.. My only way home. Just literally went up in flames. Everyone I care about is far out of my reach and I don't even think I can reach them from here. Things cant get any worse now then they possibly are!" He shouted.

He fell back into sobs as the thoughts of what he lost continued to swim through his head. Clutching his head, tears fell freely to the floor. He felt truly pathetic. Hopeless even. What would happen to him now was up to the hands of fate for the foreseeable future.

Cynder approached the creature again. This time she didn't get as close hoping that would be enough to calm it down better. She cleared her throat, "look things look bad. But we can relate to you in a way. You're not the only one Malefor has hurt. He hurt us in ways that cannot be completely fixed either. However we were able to do something about it! And so can you! We can help. Come with us to the guardians and we can work something out, I'm sure of it!" Cynder said with a confident tone.

Alexander looked up. He didn't know what to say. He doesn't even know who this Malefor is but this dragon, Cynder, as she was called was trying her hardest to help him. He didn't have much of a choice. He stood up and looked her in the eyes. "Alright fine you sound like you want to help in some weird way, but what can the guardians of yours work out exactly. I don't have a single clue where in the world I am, and for that matter, why I even am here! So tell me! how can they help! I'm stranded with no way home!"

Spyro stepped up, "You're right. You are stranded and have no home, or friends, and probably going to die if you don't get help. If you want my advice I think you should look to the skies and take this flight where offering you, it's your best bet. We can find you a place here. You're a victim of Malefors evil that isn't exactly the most fair thing for you to deal with." He remarked. "You're in luck though, Cynder and I are pros at taking care of whatever mess that jerk causes. I'm sure we can get you what you need."

"You didn't answer my question, dragon. What can the guardians do to help me." Alexander asked.

Spyro gave a bit of a smirk. "Well for starters. Shelter, A place to sleep, warm bedding, list goes on really."

Alexander gave him a questioning look. They where really that generous? Really? "I gotta agree that sounds real good right about now. I guess I got no other option. Well uh I guess I can go…" He mumbled.

Cynder looked delighted too hear that. "Great! We can get you there as quickly as a day's flight!"

"First uh what exactly are you? If your not an ape… what could you possibly be? And er what happened that got you sent here?" Spyro interjected.

Alexander looked away uncomfortable. That confirms it. He really is alone if there is no way they know what his species is. He spoke, "Im uh well a human. Thats what our species is called. My name. Is Alexander Marve, captain of the vessel that just blew up."

Cynder and Spyro both looked puzzled. "Human?" they both said in unison. "Never really heard of them." Spyro said.

"Not surprised." Alexander grunted. "As for what I was doing, a purple vortex opened up in our planet's orbit so I went into a solo space flight to probe it. I knew the risks but I feel the results are a little worse than I thought. A big dark dragon thing which I assume is, Malefor from how you have been talking about him, Ripped my freaking ship to pieces! And then the piece of trash dragged me in! And well then I met you guys. UH speaking of." He wildly looked around, "where is that big jerk I have a few words to share with him!"

"He's not here anymore. We took him out. Pretty quickly I might add." Spyro smugly grinned.

"That's great. Bully for him would have ripped him a new one.." he mumbled.

"Ripped him a new what?" Cynder asked.

"Never mind it's nothing!" He said

"You said you went into space. What is that?" Spyro asked.

"You don't know what space- nevermind figures. Look, it's uh… what's in the sky. Its far far in the sky. It's where the stars are. I went there." He pointed to the sky for emphieses.

Spyro looked amazed. "Really! That far! Wow! When a dragon tries to go that far they typically well cant. Thats amazing! So your craft let you do that?"

"Yes. yes it does. My species figured that out about two centuries ago." He looked smug about the whole thing. "Who wouldn't" he thought.

"So thats why Malefor would want you! With those types of accomplishments! You could be very valuable in his hands! Thats astounding! I am really glad that he didn't get his paws on you!" Cynder said quickly.

Alexander looked back at the now extinguished wreckage of his old ship. He walked to it slowly and gave it a prod with his foot. It was cool now. He could scavenge what he could if there was anything left to take.

"Look uh ill answer more questions later. Im going to grab what I can and. Well hopefully take back some bits of home if im going with you two." He said digging through the scrap heap.

"Think we can help?" Cynder asked.

"Yeah yeah just be careful." He replied.

The trio got to work moving through the once glorious ship. Alexander didn't make as quick of progress as the dragons where with his torn up arm and all. There wasn't much to save much to Alexander's frustration. To his dismay everything was gone. The ship was indeed useless to him now. What he could only hope for was at least a small memento but there wasn't even that left. He was truly starting over.

"Hey whats this thing!" Spyro called over to the others.

Walking over to Alexander's small delight Spyro found one thing that was salvageable. He found his music player! The tiny device miraculously was unharmed in the crash. Alexander took it happily.

"Oh at least god is granting me this! Oh joy!" He exclaimed.

"What is it exactly? That thing is tiny!" Cynder said.

"This little tiny thing is my music player! An invention of my kind. It plays music from my world. It's nothing but oldies though but I am sure that you would appreciate it! You at least have music of your own on this planet here right?" He remarked fiddling with the device

"Well yeah of course we do! Why would you ask if music is not common where you're from?" Spyro replied.

"No no it's not that it's just, well a lot of things I am familiar with you don't have so… I figured better safe than sorry and make confusion. Whatever, I'm just im grateful you found this!" He hastily replied.

"You say that thing has music in it. Care to demonstrate?" Cynder asked eagerly

"Later. For now let's just go, I don't think there's anything left for us to find here." Alexander got up and headed out away from the wreckage, picked up his gun on the way with his good arm, and went to get his helmet.

Cynder huffed in annoyance and followed suit with Spyro close behind. They looked at his arm a bit worriedly. It was obvious it was painful, Spyro really did a number on him, And something had to be done quickly or he wouldn't be recovering anytime soon.

"Hey Alex, listen uh I think we should do something about your arm." Spyro said

Alexander snorted. "Yeah with what? My medical kit is toast. Like literally it's burnt to a crisp."

"Well its a long shot, but I think we can heal you. Here try these" Spyro took out of his side pouch a red crystal.

Alexander looked at him confused. "What is that supposed to do? I uh like it looks pretty and all but whats a gem gonna do to fix my arm?"

"Just touch it. Dragons use these to heal their injuries I just think maybe you should try it yourself." Spro held out out to him.

"Fine if it gets you to stop shoving it at me." He reached to it and to his shock the thing drained of color. To his greater shock his arm felt… better! Somehow it felt better!

"How… did you do that!" He gasped.

"Wasn't me Alex. I told you, it was the crystal!" Spyro looked relieved that it worked. "Curious that it worked though. It is only supposed to work on dragons and nothing else."

"Why would you use that on me if you didn't think that it would work." he flatly replied.

"Well I just had a strange feeling that I should try it. That's all." Spyro said.

"Well whatever it was, it worked. We'll discuss it later. For now let's get going. I don't want to stay here any longer than I have to." Cynder told them.

"Yeah you got a good point Cynder. The sooner we get going the better." Alex said

"And, the sooner we get going the sooner you get to meet the guardians!" Spyro grinned.

"Yeah. yeah thats true. The sooner I meet these guys the better." Alex said. "So uh.. How do we get out of here."

"Well thats simple we fly!" Cynder said flaring her wings.

Alexander gave her a strange look. "News flash. You two can fly. I can't. Look, I don't have wings."

"Spyro can carry you" She replied

"Actually-" before Spyro could say anything else Cynder shot him a glare. "-I can certainly carry you. Lets uh go."

Before he could say anything else Spyro grabbed him and hoisted him onto his back. Alexander sat uncomfortably on the back of Spyro and tried to get a grip around his neck.

"Alright all set back there?" Spyro asked, craning his neck.

With a nod they took off. Leaving the wreckage of Alexanders old life and home. And into the dawn of a new one.

With that the temple was empty. Unbeknownst to the trio, a deep laugh resounded throughout the air of the musty temple. A shadowy figure grew out of the scorched ground where the symbols for the vortex used to be.

"Fools. They don't know the true power I'm after. I will have it. And I will rule the world here.. And that of humans as well."

With that the shadowy figure of Malefor dissipated and followed our heroes. Its eyes focusing on Alexander.
