It was a bleak rainy morning mist hung in the morning air reducing visibility. On a lone road leading out of New York heading west was Sally Jackson. It had been just 3 months ago she had her baby Perseus, Percy for short.

Out of nerves Sally kept checking the mirrors to look back at Percy and the road expecting some bloodthirsty Greek monster to attack them. Poseidon warned her that since Percy was a hero, she should expect monsters to try and kill him.

He said that since Percy was a baby that he was in no immediate danger and that Sally should keep an eye on him as he grew. Sally couldn't help but be scared for her son. That's why she was leaving New York to visit a friend out of state. To calm herself and show off her beautiful boy to her friend.

She was driving through a wooded area where trees stood tall and proud, and the air got cleaner. Another two miles passed when tragedy struck. The passenger tire popped, and Sally's car veered off the road straight into the tree line. The car slammed into a tree and Sally's head smashed into the steering wheel and she black out.

The Hunters of Artemis were still asleep, the couple who weren't asleep heard the car crash and with their bows drawn went to investigate. The two came upon a silver Buick with the front-end steaming.

The one wearing a silver tiara approached the car cautiously. Wrinkling her nose at the smell of gasoline which was dripping out of the wrecked front end. Zoe looked through the wrecked passenger door and saw a woman with a gash on her head slumped over the steering wheel.

Zoe motioned for her companion to help her with the mortal. They gently pulled her out and laid her on the ground. Phoebe checked her over and shook her head gravely.

"She won't make it."

"I will stay with her, go get Lady Artemis." Zoe instructed.

"No need Zoe, I'm here." Artemis said calmly. "How is she?"

Zoe looked up and saw the whole hunt behind Lady Artemis. They looked at the sight of the unconscious woman.

Zoe shook her head solemnly." She's fading milady."

Artemis crouched down beside her and placed her hand on Sally's head. At this Sally woke up.

"It's alright, you're safe and in good hands." Artemis soothed.

Tears leaked out of Sally's eyes. "My…baby…. is..." She struggled to say.

"Don't try to speak. Conserve your strength." Artemis said. "Zoe go check the car."

Zoe got up and checked the car and in the back seat in a car seat which by some miracle hadn't shifted in any way. Zoe opened the car door which then promptly fell off and she gently picked up the babe and held it close.

Zoe went back to Artemis who had healed Sally enough to where she could speak.

"I have the baby milady." Zoe said.

"Is he alright?" Sally asked faintly.

Zoe looked down at the boy in her arms who was still asleep. "Yes, he is sleeping."

Zoe knelt down beside Sally and placed her baby back into her arms. Sally grabbed Percy and held him as close to her as possible. Sally looked at Artemis pleadingly. "Find him a good home until he goes to Camp, please."

Sally with all the last of her strength she could muster pace Percy to Artemis who took him in her arms and looked down at him with an unreadable expression.

"What is his name?" Artemis asked

"Perseus…Jackson." Sally said and with that she closed her eyes and breathed no more.

Artemis stood up and looked down at Percy in her arms. The baby she mused couldn't be more than 3 months old. She always wanted a child she could raise to be her own. Even if it is a boy, she could raise him to be an exception of the male race.

With a snap of her fingers, she alerted the nearest Police station of the crash. She turned and looked at Sally with a sad look and went back to camp with the Hunters following her. Zoe rushed up to her.

"Milady, what are thee going to do with the baby?" Zoe asked hesitantly

"Keep him as my own." Artemis said simply as she fondly looked down at Perseus.

Zoe looked alarmed at the news as the rest of the Hunt.

"But milady he is a boy." Zoe exclaimed.

"I'm aware but perhaps I can raise young Perseus to be an exception of the male race." Artemis said thoughtfully. "As of this moment Perseus is my son and you all will treat him as a brother."

Zoe looked at Artemis as if she sprouted a second head. She couldn't help it. Artemis didn't like males of any age and yet here she was adopting this… this… boy.

"But surely if thou adopt him as your own Lord Zeus wouldn't allow it." Zoe said. She didn't want to see Lady Artemis get attached to him then being forced to part with him. She could get quite possessive at times.

"I'm sure I could convince Father to let me keep him." Artemis said, smiling down at Perseus who squirmed a little. "The matter is closed, and I will hear no one speak of it."

"But…" Zoe started but caught herself." As you wish milady."

Perseus opened his eyes and looked up at Artemis who looked down at his sea green eyes in shock. "A son of Poseidon." Artemis muttered to herself. And all at once annoyance at her Uncle came rushing towards her.

Poseidon was under oath to have no more kids and yet here was little Perseus. That didn't matter to Artemis at the moment because Perseus was her son now and she hurt anyone who would hurt her son.

Perseus giggled and reached up and grabbed her nose. Artemis smiled and tickled him causing him to giggle harder. "We will have to move again to many mortals around us to be ready to leave at ten." Artemis commanded.

The Hunters begin moving around the camp to prepare to leave. Artemis ducked inside her tent to prepare a place for Percy.

Down in his throne room Poseidon was talking to Delphin about the sea's pollution problem and the harm it was doing to the Dolphins when he felt it. Sally was dead and he couldn't feel his son anymore. Poseidon groaned in his heart and sat down heavily on his throne.

One hand was covering his face as he sobbed the other was gripping his Trident so hard his hand whitened noticeably. The effect of this was noticed around the world. Storms formed and hit the beaches of the different islands and continents while ocean waves slammed into the coast lines with a fury.

While Poseidon mourned the loss of his son the ocean mourned the loss of its prince.

(A/N) Well, any thoughts? This is my first Percy Jackson fic. Percy will still be close to canon as possible.
