It was noon by the time Artemis was ready to head west. She and her Hunters were going to hunt the Chimera. The monster was terrorizing mortals left and right. It was the cause of many forest fires and Artemis couldn't let that stand; the forests were all under her protection.

She had Perseus in a chariot that resembled a crib which was going to be pulled by a single hind. She and the Hunters were ready to leave. Thunder boomed around them and that meant only one thing.

Zeus had called an emergency meeting.

"I must go to Olympus." Artemis informed her Hunters. "Go on without me. And look after Perseus for me."

The Hunter nodded their understanding then left out west. Artemis watched them depart for a few minutes before flashing to Olympus. She appeared in the Throne room and changed her height to fit in her Throne.

She watched impassively as the other Olympains appeared before her in the room. Apollo flashed in and sent her a wink before taking a seat on his throne pulling out his iPod and plugging in his earbuds.

Artemis rolled her eyes at her brother; he always does this for every meeting, and he wonders why Zeus glares at him all the time. Slowly one by one they all appeared in the Throne room until finally Zeus and Hera appeared last. Taking their seats Zeus addressed Poseidon.

"It has come to my attention, Brother, that Hurricanes and waves are ravaging the coasts across the world." Zeus glowered at Poseidon. "Care to explain?"

Artemis looked at her Uncle and saw to her surprise that there were tears running down his face. Every time he wiped his eyes and face more tears would replace the ones that he just dried. The tears were leaking out of his eyes in such a way that it reminded Artemis of a leaky faucet.

She also noted that Poseidon usually looked like a fit 30-year-old man. He now looked 40 years older than 30 and had a very wrinkled face and a white long beard and hair making him look like father time.

His khakis and Hawaiian shirt were replaced for a black suit making him look like he was going to a funeral. It had to be because he believed Perseus to be dead, Artemis concluded in her head why else would he look like that?

Poseidon, while a womanizer in Artemis's head, loved his children more than anything else in the world. Didn't he curse Odysseus after he poked Polyphemus's eye out? He proved to pay more attention to his children than the other gods and goddesses

Poseidon looked at Zeus with watery eyes. "I…he…" was all he managed before breaking down into tears in earnest. Zeus looked at Poseidon shocked. No one on the council had seen the Sea God so broken before. Zeus's shock lasted only for a second before his face hardened.

"Pull yourself together, Poseidon." Zeus bellowed. This only seemed to upset the Sea God further who cried if possible, even harder. Causing the sky outside to darkened with clouds.

Hestia looked up from her place at the Hearth and frowned disapprovingly at Zeus. Hestia was the kindest goddess on Olympus and would always hear her family out when they were upset or sad. It was clear that she was annoyed with Zeus for the way he was treating his own Brother.

Zeus got an impatient look on his face as he looked towards his Brother. "Well, I haven't got all day."

"If I may Father I believe that Uncle Poseidon lost a mortal he favored." Artemis spoke up on her Uncle's behalf. Not the full truth but not completely a lie either.

Hestia smiled warmly up at Artemis and her eyes seemed to tell Artemis that she knew of Perseus. A notion that made Artemis's heart drop for a second. The only way Hestia would know of Perseus's existence would be if Poseidon told her.

Zeus looked towards Artemis so fast you could hear his neck pop. Zeus flinched as he rubbed his neck. His face darkened as he asked. "What kind of mortal?"

Artemis shrugged "I believe he was a fishing buddy of Uncle Poseidon."

Through his grief she could see the surprise look her Uncle gave. So, she sent him a look the clearly said 'let me handle this and agree to what I say.' Zeus seemed to process what he had been told.

"I do not believe this is the case.' Zeus said. "My Brother has made all kinds of mortal friends throughout his immortal life. But he never cried over a mortal friend like this. The last time he cried like this was back in the second world war when his last son was killed."

Artemis could see her plan failing rapidly as she drank in her Father's words. She sent Hestia a look that said help please. Hestia smiled at Artemis and Artemis took that to mean she understood her.

"Perhaps this one was different Brother." Hestia spoke up. "He could have loved this good friend of his. You could've let me take care of this instead of calling everyone here."

"Perhaps but Poseidon's grief is putting strain on the rest of us. I've received word from Chiron at Camp Half-Blood that is in Danger of washing away. It's raining so hard that the Campers can't see anything ten feet away from them and the Ocean is slowly reaching the cabins."

"So,this Council meeting was decided by the majority of gods in here?" Hestia asked, sounding unimpressed.

Zeus nodded solemnly; his expression betrayed nothing but annoyance that he was pressured into calling this meeting. Most of the gods and goddesses apparently like to watch their respective kids train at the camp and the storm was clouding their vision and putting the heroes in mortal peril.

"How can I watch my kids beat the snot out of the other if I can't see them." Ares spoke up.

"The storms and waves are killing the Camp's strawberries and poisoning the Dryads." said Demeter.

Zeus rolled his eyes and put up a hand to silence everyone. "The others wanted to see that the problem was dealt with."

Hestia raised an eyebrow "So this is for public humiliation?"

Zeus went to speak but Hestia cut him off. "I don't want to hear excuses, Zeus." Hestia grew into a giant 30-year-old woman and went to Poseidon. "Come on little brother, you can talk to me about it in my palace."

She then gently pulled Poseidon to his feet and guided him out of the room much to the annoyance of Zeus. He looked like he was about to say something but thought better of it.

"Everyone is dismissed except for Artemis." Zeus said in his 'big boss' voice as Artemis liked to call it.

Once the room was void of everyone but Zeus and Artemis he spoke up. "Care to tell me what's really going on."

Artemis kept her face as neutral as possible. "I don't understand what you're talking about Father.'' She lied. Zeus raised an eyebrow at her and at that moment Artemis realized that her Father didn't believe it.

"Don't understand what I'm talking about hmm" Zeus softly repeated to himself. "I find that hard to believe considering I heard from Hermes that Poseidon had a son born to him not too long ago."

"I wouldn't-"

"DON'T INSULT ME WITH YOUR LIES DAUGHTER." Zeus roared as lightning flashed across the Throne room and the smell of ozone hit her nose hard. "SO, TELL ME THE TRUTH!"

Artemis paled at her Father's words and she fidgeted nervously. Never before had her Father yelled at her like this. She only saw this kind of anger directed at her brother Apollo who annoyed Zeus almost every time he was here.

"There is a son of Poseidon Father." Artemis said.

"You wouldn't happen to know where he is perhaps?" Zeus asked.

"Yes." Artemis said, looking at the floor. She couldn't bring herself to meet her Fathers eyes

"Where is he?"

"With me and the Hunters"

"I'm afraid he must die. He is a risk to us all and I can't allow that risk to exist." Zeus said.

"Father No."

Zeus raised an eyebrow at his daughter's behavior. "The Prophecy must not come to pass."

"You know that trying to mess with Prophecies ends badly right Father?"

"Then what would you have me do Artemis? He could turn on us all in the future even if you can't deny the risk that is in front of you right now."

"Then let me raise him like a son. He would be loyal to me and in turn to Olympus Father you always know I wanted kids of my own but the Oath that I swore prevented that but, on I don't regret either. This is the one chance I have to have a child I can raise to be my own. So please Father, don't take him from me." Artemis begged

Zeus looked thoughtful as he stroked his beard. He considered what Artemis had said it was true that if she raised the boy as her own, he would be loyal to his 'Mother' and that'll put his troubled mind at ease. But the boy threatened his rule over Olympus. Finally, Zeus decided.

"I will let you keep the boy but under one condition." Zeus said.

"Name it." Artemis said none too eager to hear what her father thought up this time.

"Should this boy turn against us you will kill him yourself."

Artemis nodded her understanding, and she was confident that Perseus would not turn against her or Olympus. After all Perseus was with a mother that would be there for him no matter what. It would be a little be but Artemis was sure she would in time love the child that was now Her's.

"It's settled then." Zeus said standing up. "I hope for your sake that you aren't wrong about this."

"I'm not." Artemis boldly stated.

"We shall see." Zeus said as he vanished in a flash of lightning.

Artemis also left the Throne room appearing back at the new campsite for her and the Hunters. The minute she appeared she heard crying. Perseus it appeared had woken up and was making a fuss. They still had him in that chariot Artemis made earlier that day and 3 Hunters stood around him arguing with each other about what to do with him.

"Rock him back to sleep so he can shut up." Zoe said, annoyed as she Rubbed her temples

"No way am I holding him.'' Phoebe stated, raising her hands. The two girls then turned to another stand beside them.

"Don't look at me." Cecilia said.

"I'll take care of Perseus." Artemis stated as she picked the crying baby out of the makeshift crib. The pungent smell of a soiled diaper hit her nose. The smell of it…gods it was terrible.

Perseus was screaming and flailing his tiny arms around her. Artemis gently put him back down the mat and changed him.

Of course, she didn't use her hands as she didn't want the filth of the diaper to soil her hands. Instead, she just used her powers to change the old diaper to a fresh one and a wet rag to clean his bum. Once that was done a bottle appeared and she fed him.

"Milady, must you look after him?" Cecillia asked tentatively.

Artemis fixed the girl with a hard stare making said girl squirm uncomfortably. She already told them he was here to stay here and didn't she already make it clear not to question her on this.

Annoyance filled Artemis as she answered.

"Yes, and I remember telling you all that the matter is closed." Artemis replied coolly.

Cecilia's face paled. "Of course, forgive me, milady."

"Leave us." Artem said. The hunters bowed their heads respectfully before leaving Artemis alone with Perseus who had fallen asleep. In her arms. She had to tell Poseidon he was alive otherwise there would be no world for Perseus to live in. She took Perseus to her tent, and she set up a crib for him.

"O Iris goddess of the Rainbow show me Poseidon." Artemis stated clearly. One of the perks of being a goddess was she didn't have to pay for the Iris Messages she sent. The IM shimmered and showed Poseidon on his throne in Atlantis staring at some unseen object across the room.

"Uncle." Artemis called out; Poseidon looked at the Iris message in surprise.

"Niece." Poseidon greeted glumly. He still looked old as he did on Olympus.

"I need to talk to you in private." Artemis stated she just hoped when she told Poseidon about Perseus that he didn't blow up at her.

"About what?" Poseidon asked, looking surprised. Artemis can't really blame him; the only time the other gods see her anymore is at the council meetings.

"Perseus." Artemis answered simply.

"Meet me at Montauk by the sea." Poseidon said he then waved his hand through the Iris Message and disconnected. Standing up Artemis flashed to Montauk, then she stood on one of the many piers that lined the beaches and waited. After a full minute Poseidon appeared looking worse for wear.

"What's this about?" Poseidon asked, sounding close to tears. "Did you find my boy's body?"

"Uncle, Perseus is alive." Artemis said without preamble. Poseidon looked skeptically at Artemis; he had felt Percy die. That was it, the protection he put on his boy would only stop working if he died or vanished off the face of the earth.

"He can't be the protection I placed on him, and his mother is gone meaning they both are dead." Poseidon said gravely.

Artemis sighed "Sally is dead, but Perseus is alive and well I have back at my campsite."

"Explain." Poseidon demanded.

"One of my Hunters heard a car crash and went to investigate. I had followed soon after and discovered on the ground with Zoe tending to her. I was told she wasn't going to make it and her dying wish was to have her baby Perseus to be taken care of. So, I adopted him." Artemis explained patiently.

"You adopted him?" Poseidon asked, surprised his face was full of happiness at the news of his son being alive.

"Yes, I swear to you I will train him and keep him safe before sending to Camp Half-Blood." Artemis said.

"While I don't like the idea of my son growing up in a man-hating group, it's better than the alternatives." Poseidon mused

"You're taking this awfully well." Artemis noted.

Poseidon simmered before Artemis's eyes, and he was back to his fit 30-year-old form. The clouds dispersed from the sky and the Oceans continuing beating of the beaches around them stopped, the waters receded, and everything was calm.

"It might seem strange, but I want nothing but the best for him and getting trained by you would be beneficial for him." Poseidon stated.

"I was talking about your emotions but whatever." Artemis muttered.

"Oh, I'm experiencing Emotional Numbness or at least that's what Apollo says." Poseidon shrugged. "Look after him for me please."

Artemis nodded and with that Poseidon vanished into sea mist. Leaving Artemis alone to her thoughts.
