3. Crystelle's Diminishing Freedom.

A long time ago, Crystelle had used a Cloning Machine for the first time (ref. 13). She had sat opposite her very first clone. She had worn a badge saying "Master", and her clone had worn a badge saying "Slave"! Not quite accurate, but that's how she remembers it, anyway! .

They have found a lot of common aims - all of them, in fact, are in common - it's the same person. .

Crystelle's first clone had been called Crystelle One, or sometimes just One for short by the family. She had later made other clones, too.

Crystelle had taken a Tardis from the Tardis storeroom deep beneath Gallifrey when the Master had been busy annihilating Gallifrey (ref. 12).
Since then, Crystelle One has been busy using that Tardis to track the Master, observing, and ultimately trapping him into arriving in the Judoon Master Palace prison where he has had to stay. She has become quite adept at this.

Unfortunately, this comes at a price - the Master has noticed her, and her other clones, and vowed to annihilate her, along with all her other clones.

One day more recently, Crystelle had met Trelim, an old school acquaintance of the Master's and still badly affected by the brief time he had been with the Master (ref. 34). Crystelle had escorted him home once, but he had appeared for a second time, when something seemed different (ref. 35). She eventually deduced that Trelim was by then inhabited by the Master, but only after depositing him on Gallifrey.
Disaster! The Gallifreyan Authorities had been doing their utmost to prevent the Master from arriving on Gallifrey!

Then she had started pandemonium! She had tried to summon her own Tardis, but it had been refused entry to a restricted area around where she had agreed to drop off Trelim; and she found she couldn't summon it away, either. Her Tardis was trapped.

She had gone home through the portal she'd used to drop Trelim off, and then Chloe, Crystelle's daughter, had offered to use her home-designed Wristwatch Tardis to take Crystelle back to Gallifrey to take Trelim away from Gallifrey, anywhere! But they had been noticed in the Limitation Area near her portal – a sensitive place during the drop-off period.

The Gallifreyan Automatic Intrusion System had alerted the Gallifreyan Authorities of these irregularities and automatically issued an arrest warrant for Crystelle One. She had been in the Judoon Master Palace prison facility immediately after and had duly been arrested! Very quick!

Petrozena, working closely with the Judoon, ensuring they didn't purely follow the letter of the law with no thought, saw the wider picture, and had interceded for Crystelle One and had released her... but her reputation was already severely damaged, and she is still on their wanted list!

Crystelle One decides to go to Gallifrey to defend her position and her reputation, and then sort out her future of assisting Gallifrey to keep the Master out.

"Chloe," she says, "could you do me a favour?"
"Yes," Chloe says.
It can be disconcerting, sometimes, to have another being so like her own mother. .

Crystelle One started off as an identical clone but has been out in the sunshine a bit more, and some of the suns she has seen haven't been as well behaved as others! She is a shade darker than her origninal Crystelle, but she's been told that her skin is a ticking time bomb - she may develop problems later in life. What the doctors don't know is that she, along with the original Crystelle and her other clones, all have a primitive regeneration capability. Her body can easily self-heal, as can Chloe's!
Chloe just sees a more tanned version of her mother. .

"Could you take me to Gallifrey, please?"
It's a simple enough request but Crystelle One sounds stressed, she almost squeaked as she made her request.
"Why?" Chloe asks immediately. She thinks that surely Crystelle One would give a longer cooling off period while the Gallifreyan Authorities became less on edge?
"I want to get things sorted out," Crystelle One says determinedly.

"But," Chloe starts saying, but finds she's unsure just how to put Crystelle One's delicate situation. Yet Crystelle One appears confident and to know just what she wants to do. "I'll take you, then message me if you need me," she concludes, as if she's just offering a lift home.

Messaging home seems unlikely to happen as messaging gadgets will normally be removed from a wanted person upon detainment.
