I'm so sorry to the girlfriends that I haven't written anything for them in a while BUT it's Pride and so I wanted to write Xialing celebrating her first pride and finding somebody like her, so, enjoy. :D
All the headcanons are my own and I won't be offended if you disagree, just don't feel like you have to tell me lol.
"This just seems a little unnecessary," Xialing said as Katy and Shang-Chi painted each other's faces.
"It's a tradition, babe," Katy said.
"Okay, but you are not painting my face."
"That's fine," Shang-Chi said, "you just won't look as cool as Katy or me."
Xialing rolled her eyes, "I don't need face paint to know that I'm cool. Or that I'm gay."
"And that's perfectly fine. Some people just like to put on face paint or wear flags, but you don't have to do that to enjoy pride. I just want to celebrate my relationship with my beautiful girlfriend." Katy wrapped her arms around Xialing, careful not to get the pink, purple, and blue paint on Xialing's nice clothes.
Now Xialing blushed, "Well, I am excited to celebrate with you, my little parasite."
"Explain to me the origin of that nickname?" Shang-Chi asked, with his matching bi-colored face paint and a shirt that said "It Gets Better."
"Because she's growing on me," Xialing said, with Katy grinning like it was the most romantic shit she'd ever heard.
"Look, I even got her to wear matching shirts with me." Katy undid her robe and Xialing reluctantly opened her jacket. Katy's shirt said, "I Have Everything I Need," and Xialing's shirt said, "I Am Everything."
Shang-Chi snorted, "That's adorable, oh my god."
"Don't worry, one of these days you'll have a partner for pride," Katy teased.
"I'm too busy saving the world to get a partner. Name one avenger in a stable relationship."
"Captain America. The new one. He and Bucky totally have eyes for each other, and out of anyone in the Avengers he's definitely the most stable," Katy said.
"Totally having eyes for each other and being in a stable relationship is different, Katy."
"You're just jealous because they're both super hot and you want a super hot superhero boyfriend," Katy said.
"That's irrelevant."
"I have connections, Shaun, I can find you a partner if you want," Katy said.
"Oh, are we setting Shang-Chi up on a blind date? I know some people."
"Are they criminals?" Shang-Chi asked.
"Not all of them," Xialing said, pretending to be offended.
"No blind dates, please. I am happy to be a third wheel to your love fest, can we just head out? I want to attend pride with my sister and my best friend."
"Alright, grumpy pants. But if you don't flirt with at least one person today I will consider this whole thing a failure," Katy said.
"Fine, I'll flirt. Focus on your girlfriend, it's her first pride. That's definitely more important than whether or not I get some guy's number today."
"Oh, don't worry, I'll be focused on my girlfriend. I just want both of you to have a good day to day. Because like the shirt says, I already have everything I need."
Xialing was happy to trail along with Katy and Shang-Chi, who were old pros at pride at this point. But she didn't personally feel like she fit in there until she saw someone else like her.
"Katy." She grabbed her girlfriend's hand and stopped her in her tracks.
"Hm? What's up, babe?"
"Look over there! That person has a lesbian and ace flag."
"Oh, cool! You should go talk to them!"
"Definitely don't want to do that," Xialing said quickly, "But I just didn't realize there'd be other ace lesbians here."
"There are all kinds of people here, Xialing! That's what makes it so great, that's what makes pride so important. A lot of people don't realize there's anyone like them until they enter queer spaces like pride. I didn't realize there was anyone like me until I met your brother. That's why we have this tradition, to show the world that we belong."
"I like this tradition," Xialing said.
Katy leaned up and kissed Xialing, smudging her own face paint this time, "Me too. Now let's go find Shang-Chi and try to get him a date."
