AN: I am quenched. My Kacy shipper soul was so parched until Paleyfest, but Tori and Yas came to serve looks and serve looks they did. Here is just a quick, fluffy one-shot full of all the Kacy goodness I hope we are all floating on Cloud Nine with at the moment.

Kate Whistler considered herself a pretty calm and collected person. She had worked for multiple intelligence agencies, had an analytical mind, and was one of the best special agents in her department. She interrogated suspects on a regular basis, was responsible for highly classified information, and had a reputation for reading people. And yet, all of that went out the window when it came to her girlfriend. In the three years she had been in love with Lucy Tara, it never ceased to amaze her how easy the bubbly brunette with the most beautiful smile Kate had ever seen could fluster her and make any plans or train of thought she had go by the wayside. Their relationship started off rocky with miscommunications, unspoken words, and even some heartbreak and tears, but once they started to actually open up to one another, it felt effortless. Being with Lucy in more ways than one was effortless. It is why Kate wasn't surprised when Lucy suggested they move in together or when being all domestic and cuddled away in their home became her favorite pastime. It is why she wasn't surprised when her parents instantly loved Lucy or when Kate and Lucy's family got along. The two of them worked and always had when it came down to it. That's why when the thought of marrying popped into her mind, it didn't scare her.

They were on vacation in the French Alps and in each other's arms by the fire. Lucy was gazing at her in the way she often did, the way that let her know without a word that she was happy and just needed to be in her arms. In that moment, as she gazed back into the beautiful hazel eyes she adored, Kate knew. She wanted Lucy forever and wanted to make it official. Deciding that was easier than actually saying the words out loud, though. As usual, Kate wanted it to be perfect. Ever since officially becoming a couple, she told herself she would make sure they did things right, that she did things right. That meant every anniversary, every birthday, every holiday, and big step forward in their relationship, Kate thought about what she wanted to do to make sure Lucy knew how much she loved her. After their first year together, she realized Lucy didn't need the grandest of gestures anymore and didn't want her to stress, but she still wanted to make sure her girlfriend knew just how loved she truly was. For her part, Lucy made it clear that she knew and mentioned on more than one occasion that she never could have guessed just how romantic Kate was. So, after getting Jane's help to pick out the ring, Kate started devising a plan to propose.

The first time was simple enough, in theory. It was supposed to be a dinner at Lucy's favorite restaurant and then a sweet proposal during a sunset walk. However, their professional lives got in the way and while Jane made sure to cover for Lucy for the evening, Kate was not as lucky. She was part of a counterintelligence taskforce that led to a terrorist threat and was called in for immediate action right in the middle of their perfect dinner. Lucy understood. Kate did not. But, she did manage to track down a terror cell for her troubles. Her team members informed her she seemed extra terrifying during her interrogation of their suspects and they all knew why.

The second time she tried to propose was supposed to be after a night out with their friends. However, Lucy decided that night would be one to tie one on after a very long week of work. By the time Kate got home, Lucy was already three shots in with an amused Jesse, Kai, and Ernie, and an apologetic looking Jane. They'd wrapped up a tough case and broke into the good stuff, which is what Lucy called the liquor cabinet at their place. Jane had tried her best to keep her team at bay, but also was feeling the stress and heaviness of the case. Kate was annoyed, but this time, at least understood.

So, there she was, a month into obsessing and trying to keep her girlfriend from noticing how much she was stressing over her failed attempts. It was a Friday evening and Jane was trying her best not to laugh at Kate's nerves. She knew why her best friend came over instead of being at home where Lucy was waiting for her, but she was amused nonetheless.

"Well, you know what they say. Third time is the charm," giggled Jane and Kate stomped her foot.

"Not helping."

"It is going to be fine. I know why you are stressed, but you have to remember, the past two times have absolutely nothing to do with how Lucy feels about you. She is going to say yes. You just have to…you know…actually ask her."

"What do you think I have been trying to do," whined Kate as she plopped down on the couch beside her friend. Jane smiled sympathetically at her.

"Okay, show me again," she said and Kate sighed as she pulled the black ring box from her pocket to hand to Jane. It was an elegant, platinum band with intricate diamonds edged into it and Jane smiled warmly.

"She's going to love it and it speaks for itself. You don't need all the pomp and circumstance. You just need her to know how you feel. Trust me," assured Jane and Kate nodded as she placed the ring box back in her jacket pocket.

"I do."

"Then go get yourself a fiancée," encouraged Jane. Kate hugged her friend and gave her a wink as she stood up.

"Thanks. You always know what I need to hear."

"Well, I take my job as your best friend seriously," teased Jane as she winked back at her. Kate took in a deep breath to steady her resolve and headed out of the house, hoping everything finally went according to plan.

When she got home, she heard the television on in the living room and heard Lucy call out to her. She beamed with happiness as her girlfriend walked over to greet her. She wrapped her in her arms and Lucy tenderly kissed her.

"I missed you. What took you so long," asked Lucy and Kate kissed her forehead.

"I needed to make a quick stop, but I am happy to be home. What are we watching," she asked as Lucy led her over to the couch.

"You said I could choose," reminded Lucy and Kate giggled.

"Yes, I did."

"And I got all your favorites for our movie night, so you can't complain about what I chose," added Lucy.

"Casper," said Kate with a knowing smile and Lucy laughed.

"How did you know?"

"Because I saw it queued up on our Netflix earlier and knew you wouldn't miss a chance to make me watch it with you again."

"It is a classic," reminded Lucy as they sat down on the couch.

"Is classic really the word you want to use to describe it," teased Kate and Lucy playfully glared at her.

"Oh come on, you love it. You can admit it. I won't tell anyone and mess up your cred."

"I make one comment one time and it sticks with me forever," whined Kate. Lucy kissed her sweetly.

"Fine, you watch Casper with me and I will stop teasing you about your cred."

"Deal," agreed Kate as she wrapped an arm around her and Lucy snuggled into her side. She happily started the movie and Kate kissed the top of her head to hide her smile. She knew exactly what Lucy planned for them to watch. It is the one of the reasons she decided to propose during a simple movie night at home and not in another way. Casper was one of Lucy's favorite movies since she was a child and Kate thought it was adorable when she used it as her answer for what her favorite scary movie was. It melted Kate's heart and so did the way Lucy would get excited every time she got to watch it. As for the film itself, Kate didn't see much of the appeal and usually spent the entire time distracting Lucy with kisses and lingering touches that made her forget all about the apparently friendly ghost on the screen. But, this time was different and Kate was more than happy to cuddle up and take in every minute as her nerves melted away. Jane was right. It wasn't a matter of if Lucy would say yes. The couple had talked about their future plenty of times. The only thing that made Kate nervous was how she planned to propose and she hoped Lucy didn't find it as cheesy as she first did when it popped into her mind. Jane assured her that it wouldn't be cheesy to Lucy, especially since they all knew how much she loved the film. Kate thought the movie would take forever to get to the scene she was waiting on, but it didn't. She spent most of it thinking about how lucky she felt to have Lucy in her life and about all the ways their lives were better with one another. She was so lost in her thoughts and, the way her girlfriend was stroking her hair, that she almost missed her cue for the scene. It was Lucy's favorite moment from the film. Casper turned back into his human form and given the chance to dance with his crush, and Lucy's childhood crush, Christina Ricci. Kate subtly slipped the ring box out of her pocket and shifted a bit as Lucy's eyes remained glued to the television. As soon as Casper whispered the words, Kate whispered them in Lucy's ear.

"Can I keep you," she whispered as she showed Lucy the ring. She smiled at the way Lucy gasped and looked back and forth at the ring and Kate in stunned silence for a moment. She beamed from ear to ear, giving Kate the bright smile she fell in love with over and over again. She knew in that moment what Lucy's answer was and both of their eyes filled with tears. Lucy captured her lips in a tender kiss full of all the love and devotion she could convey. Both of their heads were swimming and Kate leaned her forehead against her.

"Is that a yes," she asked and Lucy happily nodded through her tears.

"Hell yes," she giggled and Kate sighed in relief as she placed the ring on Lucy's finger.

"Good."

"Did you really think there would ever be another answer to that," asked Lucy with a giggle and Kate smiled as she shrugged.

"I hoped not, but I didn't want to assume."

"It has always been you, Kate," assured Lucy before tenderly kissing her again. Their kisses grew more passionate and Lucy stood up to pull her toward their bedroom.

"I love you," said Kate as she smiled adoringly at her fiancée.

"I love you too. Now is Casper your favorite movie," teased Lucy and Kate giggled as she shook her head.

"No, but you are right. Definitely a classic," she conceded before picking Lucy up into her arms and carrying her into their bedroom. The movie had done its job and now both were more than happy to celebrate their engagement for the rest of the night.

AN: Just a quick, cute one-shot at such a fluffy time in the fandom. I hope you enjoyed and are living your best shipper lives.
