A/N: I hope you like my story :)

Kaito knew that he shouldn't be here, especially not considering that he was not Kaito Kuroba at the moment but Kaitou Kid. A few weeks ago Aoko had accidentally found out that he was Kaito Kid and she had told him to leave her alone. No matter how much it had pained him, he had respected her wish and had kept his distance from her, but the heist tonight changed everything.

One again he had run into some black clad guys, who were obviously part of Snake's group. They had shot at him again, but that wasn't why he was here. They had threatened him, but he could live with that. However when they had told him that they would find every person who was close to him and hurt them, he got scared. He was sure that they didn't know who he was and they surely didn't know who was close to him or they would have said the actual names to make the threat more believable, but he still wanted to make sure that she was safe. It was stupid that he was here, he knew that, but his heart wouldn't let him leave before he had made sure that she was okay and no harm was done.

Silently he opened the window to her room. The lights were off and he could see a figure lying in the bed. That should be enough for him, but it wasn't. She was the woman who he was in love with and not being able to be close to her while she was awake pained him. It had taken him some time to realize it, but he was sure that she was the one for him. Every minute he couldn't talk to her seemed like weeks and the look she had given him, after she had found out that he was Kid, had shattered his heart. He had missed his chance with her, but that didn't mean that he would ever stop loving her. Quietly stepping closer to the bed he leaned over her, only to have deep blue eyes look back at him.

Surprised he drew back, but it was too late. She hadn't been asleep like he had thought she was. Aoko turned the light on and sat up, her eyes never leaving his.

"Kaito, what are you doing here?" He couldn't detect the tone of her voice, but that wasn't important now.

"I'm sorry. I know that you don't want to see me, especially like this." He gestured to his white suit. "I'll leave."

The magical thief turned around, ready to fly out of the window, when her voice stopped him.

"Kaito, you're bleeding."

Only now he remembered that one of Snake's guys had shot at him. It was only a gaze shot, but his shoulder still got injured. He had been so focused on coming here that he had forgotten all about it. The pain and fear in his heart had been way greater than the pain from his shoulder. He should really treat his wound, seeing that the right sleeve of his white suit was almost completely red by now.

"It's nothing. Don't worry about it." With that he turned back to the window, this time however he was stopped by gentle hands on his uninjured arm.

"Sit down. I'll treat your wound."

"You don't have to do that." He protested. "After all I'm Kid the thief."

The words were meant to get her to let him leave, because he didn't want her to worry about him.

"You're Kaito and you're hurt, so sit down." With that she forced him to sit down on the ground and pulled out a huge medical kit from under her bed. Kaito remembered that her father had gifted it to her and the commissar had told her in front of him that it was because she was often a clutz. It was a fond memory back from when they were younger and all the problems they had now hadn't existed.

He was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt Aoko carefully remove his suit jacket and tie. When she began opening his shirt button after button he could feel her hands shake. In any other situation he was sure that they would be blushing by now, but this was different. When he heard her gasp after she had fully removed his shirt, he found the confirmation for it. Her hands were shaking because she saw his wound.

There was silence between them for a moment before whispered words broke it.

"Tell me what happened." She said, while she gently began to clean his wound.

"Are you sure that you want to listen? To everything?" He asked her seriously. It made only sense to tell her about tonight if she would be willing to listen to the whole story why he was Kid to begin with.

He felt her flinch and for a moment she stopped her treatment on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry Kaito, I should have let you explain when I found out that you were Kid, but I was just so hurt that you didn't tell me about it."

Their eyes met and Kaito couldn't help but reach out for her and gently touch her cheek.

"I'm sorry Aoko. I'm the reason that your dad isn't around much and you constantly worry for him and I know that I wasn't around much either after I became Kid. I took your dad, who I know is very dear to you, away and your best friend, who hopefully is still dear to you."

"He is still dear to me. I could never stop caring for you, Kaito." She lay her hand over his on her cheek and smiled softly at him for the first time in weeks. "Please tell me everything, I'm willing to listen."

Kaito returned her smile before he began to tell her everything, about his father, Snake, the reason why he became Kid. It felt as if a burden was lifted off of him. With every word he healed his broken heart and hers while she was healing his shoulder.

By the end of his story his shoulder was bandaged and the atmosphere between them felt better than it had the last few weeks. Taking a deep breath Kaito turned fully to Aoko to see her reaction and was surprised when he saw her cry.

"You kept this burden to yourself for so long. Why didn't you tell me, Kaito?"

The magician was never good when it came to crying girls and seeing the girl he loved cry, was even worse. Without thinking about the consequences he pulled her into his arms, not caring about his injured shoulder.

"Please don't cry Aoko, I can't stand to see you like that." Softly he wiped her tears away with his thump. "I just couldn't tell you. You hate Kid and I couldn't bear the thought that you would hate me as well when you found out."

"I could never hate you Kaito." Came her soft reply and then she moved a little out of his arms to look into his eyes. "It's quite the opposite. I love you."

"Aoko I-" His voice broke and he gently pulled her closer again until their lips almost met. "I love you too." With that he kissed her.

It was their first kiss and Kaito couldn't wish for a better one, because finally he had told the woman he loved his two most guarded secrets.

A/N: Happy Valentine's Day :)
