We can hear bass bumping and see flashing lights giving the boiler room more of a bar feeling.

"Well, over the years, we made a few improvements." Simmons tells us.

Skye laughs as they enter, we are on a catwalk overlooking the scene. We get a good look it looks like a S.H.I.E.L.D. nightclub. There are people dancing, drinking, and playing pool and on the wall is the large S.H.I.E.L.D. logo.

"Do you have one of these at operations?" Simmons asks Grant,

Grant looks around clearly impressed and in awe. He shakes his head sadly.

"Nah." He says.

"I didn't think so." Simmons says smugly.

"Drinks are on me." Skye says ready to party. She walks off. Simmons and Grant follow. Grant grabs my hand and takes me with him. I am looking around. It's more impressive then in a vision. My vision did not do this place justice.

I get rudely yanked into a vision.

Fitz is knocking on door 308, Donnie opens it surprised to find Fitz there.

"Donnie." Fitz greets

"Agent Fitz, sir." Donnie greets in return.

"Oh, please, call me "Fitz"." Fitz says Awkwardly. He looks around Donnie into his dorm room. "Mind if I come in?"

"Yeah – no. I mean, no, no I don't." Donnie answers moving out of the doorway.

Fitz enters and Donnie shuts the door behind him.

"Okay, my room was just like this, except, um, um…" He trails off. He waves his hands about the room. "There was a lot more laundry on the floor." Donnie smiles at his joke. "You feeling better?" Donnie nods while he wrings his hands looking very nervous. "You know, you shouldn't be afraid to tell me if you think someone could be targeting you."

"I'm not. It was – it was probably just a prank. Freshmen get pranked." Donnie says nervously.

"I remember vividly. But that doesn't mean that every Freshman needs to be thawed." Something draws Fitz's eyes while he talks, and he turns toward it. "Is that a design for organic light emitting diodes?" He walks over to one of Donnie's walls. There are a lot of schematics posted up there and Fitz is looking at one of them.

"For active camouflage, I'm thinking." Donnie explains.

"Hmm." Fitz says. He continues to walk around the room looking at Donnie's work, he picks one of them up – it looks like a gun – and shows it to Donnie. "An ionized air cannon?" Fitz asks. Donnie nods. "It's so small."

"Well, I was able to double the pressurization by making -"

"By making it compact." Fitz interrupts. Donnie nods again. "Clever." Fitz sets the gun down and looks at the walls again. "I must say, these ideas are way beyond what I was toying with in my first few months. You shouldn't keep these big ideas to yourself. You should run them by your instructors."

"These aren't my big ideas." Donnie says bashfully.

Fitz looks over at him. Fitz is looking over another design of Donnie's.

"A battery that carries a terawatt of energy? This is amazing." Fitz says excitedly.

"Would be if it worked. I'm – I'm close. I've built some quarter scale and they work at that size, but the heat increases at a 4 to 1 ratio with scale." Donnie says disappointedly.

"And it melts down." Fitz finishes. Donnie nods and Fitz picks up one of the scaled down models. "Why not use oxygen, you know, breathe it in from the outside?" Donnie's eyes go wide. "Sure, it's not gonna react as well with the lithium ion, but the cooling effect would surely make up for that discrepancy." Donnie just stares at his work and Fitz looks over to him. "No?" Fitz asks.

"Holy crap." Donnie says shocked.

"I mean, it's just an idea." Fitz tells him a little nervously.

"That's insane." Donnie says in Awe.

"Um, but you should show it to Agent Weaver before you test it. You have no idea how powerful this thing could be." Fitz warns Donnie.

"Of course. Wow. I'm sorry. That – that was awesome. It's true what the other guys say, you are the smartest person to come through here." Donnie compliments shocked.

Fitz gets excited. "Is that what they say? Yeah? Well, Simmons is probably smarter, technically, but that's because she likes homework more than life itself." He asks excitedly.

"Nice to have someone to talk shop with all the time…or to just plain talk to." Donnie says.

Donnie shuts down a bit.

"You know, um, I didn't like it here at the Academy at first." Fitz admits to him.

Donnie looks up at him surprised.

"You didn't?" Donnie says shocked.

"No. I was shy, a bit of a loner. My mum did her best at home, but I may as well have been speaking Japanese when I talked electronics…" Fitz explains to him. Donnie is nodding understanding that too well. "So, I kept things to myself."

"Me, too. The kids in my hometown wouldn't talk to me. And when S.H.I.E.L.D. told my dad I was gifted he said, 'at what?'" Donnie says sadly.

Fitz chuckles and nods.

"Yeah. Well, hang in there. You'll find a friend here." Fitz says. Donnie gives him an "are you kidding me" look. "Actually, I'm off to meet the team right now." He stops and turns at the door to look at Donnie with a smile. "At the boiler room, if you'd like to join."

"Uh, maybe later. I'm gonna try and draw up some of those changes." Donnie says suddenly hesitant and nervous again.

Fitz lowers his head in disappointment but understands.

"Later it is." Fitz says a little disappointed.

I do hope that Fitz gets his friend. If Donnie picks one decision, he will get a life long friend in Fitz and Fitz will get the same. They will both break barriers and make so much new cooler equipment for S.H.I.E.L.D. I have no idea what any of the stuff they talk about means, but I love to see them both happy.

"And…thanks." Donnie says right as Fitz leaves.

"No problem." Fitz tells him walking aways.

I pull back into the boiler room and Skye is at the bar and has a couple of beers, she walks away from the bartender and over to Grant. There is some sort of small vehicle on the bar delivering drinks and they both pause to look at it go by. It looks so cool. It is amazing what these kids accomplish.

"Bartender seemed chatty." Grant comments

"He's in computer sciences. Didn't take long to convince him I was a Level 7 CS operative. And guess where I'm stationed, The Sandbox." Sky tells him.

"Good thinking." Grant tells her.

"I asked if any of the cadets had hopes on getting assigned there." Sky says. Grant nods understanding the advantage of knowing this. "Behind me, the curls." Grant scans the room and focuses on the girl I saw earlier playing pool. The one who was giving Donnie a strange look earlier. "Callie Hannigan, ambitious, gunned hard for getting assigned to The Sandbox. And apparently word's gotten around she lost the top spot." Sky finally gives me a name to her face.

I could have probably looked for it, but I didn't want to. I'm really nervous about how this turns out. I will have to get ready to duck out and sneak away from Grant. I have only one chance to get this right. If I fail a kid dies, Donnie spends his life in the sandbox and not as a researcher and Fitz looses a lifelong friend. Failure isn't an option. I have to succeed.

"She was at the pool." Grant says.

"But didn't want to go in." I say finally adding in. Grant nods and gives me an approving look, I grin. Skye glares at me for stealing her moment. Oh well. Not much I can do about that. I'm nervous about enough already. Grant heads over to play pool against Callie.

"Not a bad shot." Grant compliments.

"You mean for a girl." Callie says a little pissed off.

Simmons and Skye are sitting at a table nearby. I'm standing beside Grant looking around with my arms crossed.

"For anybody." Grant explains.
While she speaks, she continues to line up shots and sink them. "Elastic collision equations, contact point geometry, and practice. So, why is a guy from operations hanging out in the boiler room, anyway?" Callie asks him.

Ward smiles and looks around and drops his voice. "Looking for the smartest mind you have here to duck out join my top shadow unit." Grant makes up on the spot. This gets Callie's attention, and she looks up at him. "Is that you?" Grant asks her.

"Could be. Shadow unit doing what?" Callie asks suspiciously.

Grant sighs and looks away. He picks up the chalk cube using it on his pool cue.

"I've said too much already, but that tech in the lecture hall, it was impressive. Whoever built that tech I could see them moving to Level 6 within the year." Grant says cryptically. I know he hasn't come up with his lie that fast.

Callie takes the chalk cube from his hand.

"Even though Donnie and Seth were hurt?" Callie asks.

She uses the cube on her cue.

"The boys survived." Grant shrugs off. Acting like he doesn't care. I know he does though. He wouldn't be trying to find the person supposedly picking on them if he didn't.

"Yeah, probably the best thing that's happened to them all year." Callie says off handily.

Callie lines up her next shot and hits the cue ball, Grant catches and holds it. Callie looks up at him.

"Why don't you tell me what you meant by that? And I'll not tell Agent Weaver how eager you were to jump rank over to operations." I threaten. Knowing that will get her to fold her hand. I'm tired of this cat and mouse that Grant and Callie are playing. Callie stands sobering to my words.

"I'm just saying they got to meet Agent Fitz. They've been talking about it for weeks." Callie finally admits.

"Weeks? We just came here…" Grant says trailing off, thinking. A thought occurs to Grant, and he finally catches on to what is going on. "Talking about it to whom?"

"Each other." Callie says.

With that Grant and I walk away. I do feel bad for Callie she didn't deserve to get used. I'll tell Grant to put in a good word for her at the sandbox. She deserves it. I see a future start to unfold. If Donnie makes the right decision, he will go to the sandbox and work with Callie falling in love with her. From what I gather they end up marrying and having kids. Hopefully that future comes true. Grant and I walk over to Simmons and Skye. Grant tells them what Callie told us. I look around. I know I have to make my escape.

"I'm going to run to the washroom." I lie to them.

I make my way out of the boiler room I head outside. Knowing I have to beat the boys there. Because if I don't, I will be stuck where I am. I need to be in the eye of the storm. I have a quick vision and see Donnie working on the battery he had shown to Fitz. He plugs in a wire and flips a switch, and a red light comes on. A hidden lab table drops from the ceiling and Donnie puts the battery on the table. In the center of the table appears to be some big engine type of component.

I come back to myself, and I am still walking. That is definitely cool that he has a hidden table. I really do hope I can get through to him, because if I do, he and Fitz will be a force to cross. I know Donnie will actually be happy and find where he fits in. Fitz will find someone who understands him. Well, I am finally at the location. Time to sit and wait. I do hope they don't keep me waiting too long. I sit on the ground cross my legs and close my eyes. I just watch as everything all unfolds.
