Anna POV
I disappeared from the hospital, Adam bringing me to an empty alleyway. Although it looked like both Scamander and Graves had quite a lot of money, I had my own ways to getting my own. All I needed was a pawn shop.
I had to recall Adam, seeing as there were no Pokémon in this world. It would be too dangerous to wander around with them out. Speaking Unovian was weird, seeing that I didn't really stay in Unova longer than my Pokémon journey there.
My bag luckily had a lot of things I could sell, like pearls, gold nuggets, strings of pearls, mostly things I got while mining for items or fishing I could use. No matter the world, shiny things were definitely pricey.
To be honest, I didn't want to subdue both of those guys, but I had no choice. Even the thought of being away from my Pokémon hurt me more than any mortal wound ever could.
It was a cloudy day and looked like it was about to rain. The people that passed the alleyway were wearing really weird clothing. It seemed like just about everybody had dresses, raincoats or other long garments. The men looked virtually the same, most of them wearing suits.
It looked like I would have to get different clothes. It was lucky that I had to wear a long coat for the journey to Mt. Coronet, or I would've been unprepared for this city's cold weather. People looked at me when I passed them on the street, whispers sometimes emerging from those who stared too long.
Calling on my magic, I wished that they would stop paying attention to me, and slowly, the stares and whispers stopped. It looked like I'd have to pawn my pearls and nuggets, and soon.
Two and a half months later
Anna had traveled through random teleporting, popping up in several different countries. In a few, she found herself in a country called "Japan", with people that curiously spoke something called 'Japanese', but the girl could identify it as Sinnohian with an accent.
She hardly stayed for long, lingering only for a handful of days at a time. Paying someone for legal papers was easy, and the girl found herself in magical communities, favoring European countries where 'English' was spoken.
It turned out that the gold nuggets she had was easily exchanged in the goblin bank Gringotts in London, and with enough money, she was able to buy a small house in Knockturn Alley, also purchasing a failing bookstore in said Alley. It took a confusion from a Zubat to 'convince' the owner to sell it to her.
Most of the pearls she had were able to get a good price from the pawn shops in the United States, though it did take some convincing that she wasn't an idiot when it came to her thing's worth. She was able to change her muggle/no-Maj money with the magical banks and opened an account in Gringotts.
A portion of the money went to buying a wand from Ollivander, and since there was magic constantly in the air, she was able to become used to the magical environment. With the freedom to flex her magic more often than when she was in her home dimension, her magical core grew stronger. She could still use spells without bastardized Latin incantations, so she made sure to utilize both abilities. Unlike the other wizards, she practiced wandless and nonverbal magic to the best of her ability.
The house wasn't very big, so she altered the basement that expanded into a whole enclosure. The liberal use of an undetectable extension charm made it easier to create a safe environment.
Day and night were used reading interesting books during the lulls of business. Piles of books were stacked in the store and her house, filled with the theory and applications of wards, ancient runes, potions, the dark arts and of creatures that were similar yet different to Pokémon, and the spells that the English used.
Looking back, she loved the wand that was ebony, 11 ½ inches with a dragon heartstring core from a Swedish Short-snout, and the handle was interestingly carved with a dragon that looked like a Hydreigon. Anna bought a holster that reacted to her magic to make carrying it easier, attaching it on her belt with a sticking charm.
The large space underneath her basement was filled with webs of artificial sunlight spells, Adam and a number of psychic Pokémon helping her with how magic threaded through the whole floor. She had created an enclosure for water bound Pokémon with the help of Esopus, a Lapras named Charm, and several other Pokémon.
There was a space that held several rows of soil fit for growing whatever berries and Anna carried, namely Sitrus berries, Oran berries, Leppa berries, and the seeds of Lum berries, and other medicinal plants. With the use of magical fertilizer, she was able to grow them faster, created juices and dried portions of berries, and replanted them in different plots, no two berries in the same one.
Anna allowed the Pokémon she cared for roam freely in the basement, expanding her knowledge of magic and mixing it with the moves of Pokémon. When the injured Pokémon were cared for with the use of conjuring bandages, spelling potions into their stomachs, they started to become less afraid of it. They were readier to comply with Anna's usage of it, and it made taking care of them considerably easier.
For those that wished to stay in their pokéballs, Anna let them, and for some small enough to roam freely, she was able to mask the Pokémon's presence. Runes carved into collars and bracelets either made the Pokémon unnoticeable or masked them to look like regular animals, like dogs and cats.
When Anna didn't read about curses, charms, hexes and other spells, she picked up the book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ", which was written by Scamander. She found it fascinating, for a man who loved creatures, he aided the Ministry and the MACUSA in New York, and his own brother was an employee of the Ministry.
Personally, she felt that morally, Newt was right. Creatures, even non-Pokémon ones, were fascinating. It was a shame there wasn't enough regulation to save thousands of creatures each year, and it was terrible that they were losing more and more habitats because of human expansion. Anna didn't understand how Newt could sit by as many more creatures were killed, and why he didn't try harder when Graves wanted to take her Pokémon.
It did seem like MACUSA was trying to track her location, but with no ties to this world, it was difficult. She submitted a false name to the Ministry, calling herself Anabel Dubois. She learned and obtained the ability to Apparate freely, and only relied on Adam's teleport when she had to travel long distances.
Anna was meditating with her future seeing Pokémon, namely Essie, her Espeon, Xander the Xatu, and Gardenia, a Gardevoir. She let her magic diffuse into the air, and Essie made a network so they could communicate without breaking their concentration.
Specifically, she was searching for the near future, her future. The visions were more or less filled with war, the muggles of this world fighting with large vehicles that could obliterate buildings, weapons made of yellow gas, people suffocating under the air they breathed.
It scared her, seeing so many people die, men, women and children falling under a man with dark hair and an odd mustache. On the wizard's size, the whispers of Gellert Grindelwald permeated the circle of dark inclined wizards all agreed that the Great War took many wizard's lives.
A new vision abruptly started, the image of Grindelwald standing in her shop with a woman, Anna's wards crumpling under the force of the budding Dark Lord's magic. She could see her team being called out, the whole store filling with heat and electricity. Shouts of attacks and spells filled the air, Anna conjuring blue flames to protect herself and her Pokémon.
The vision started to become murkier when a green light shot through a gap within the flames, finishing with Grindelwald and his companion leaving a burning store, lifeless and injured Pokémon scattered about, and a motionless body slowly consumed by flames.
Anna fell forward, sprawling as her concentration broke, and immediately her Pokémon flocked to her side, worried and concerned feelings permeating the air.
The girl could feel tears streaming down her face, shock freezing her in place. Essie rubbed her tail against Anna's face, sending soothing emotions to the paralyzed girl.
"I-I'm okay," Anna stuttered, and it felt like air finally entered her lungs. "That was...oh, Arceus, I'm so scared. I..." More tears fell as her face crumpled, loud sobs filling the room.
There was a war coming and fighting against Gellert Grindelwald would be very dangerous indeed. The chances of her Pokémon and her life being lost was a very high possibility, one she feared would change history.
The three Pokémon all used calm mind, hoping that their emotions could help Anna's anguish. As seconds crawled by, the tears stopped flowing, the sounds of hiccups and sniffling dwindling as she grew calmer.
"I'm so sorry," Anna hiccuped, "Either I fight Grindelwald and die or go against my morals and live... I can't protect any of you if I die. I don't know what to do…"
"I need to pick a side."
