June 5, 1927

Mud squished underfoot as boots walked through a forest floor, sending small creatures fleeing as Anna walked through. She tossed a pokéball up and down, catching it before stopping. It had taken time, taking the trains to Hogsmeade, then making her way towards Hogwarts. Along the way, she transfigured her features, so she looked younger, making herself shorter and her cheeks a little chubbier.

It was time for her small herd of deerling and Sawsbuck to be released into the wild and seeing as the creatures were protected in the Dark Forest of Hogwarts, it would be a suitable environment. Seeing as they weren't afraid of humans, the deerlings would be in trouble if muggles saw them, especially because of their colorful seasonal fur.

The students of Hogwarts would be in their finals week, ergo the best time to enter the castle. The girl felt resistance when she reached the school's wards and conveyed her intentions. It helped that she was aware of the wards, and that her empathic abilities were able to convince the school that she had no intention of harming any of the students that resided on the grounds.

The Dark Forest was huge, and spring was well on its way. Anna pressed the button of the pokéball, letting set into release mode, to which she tossed the pokéball higher in the air, a blue light materializing instead of red. The Sawsbuck neighed as it was released, and then Anna reached for her other pokéballs, all spelled so they wouldn't break from the heavy layers of magic in the air.

The deerling was released as well, and with a small wave from the girl, they dispersed into the forest, leaving Anna alone. She walked deeper into the Forest, watching as magical creatures either hid or came out of the trees, curious about the human entering their domain.

Eventually, she found a group of dark, skeletal horses with wings. They were Thestrals, creatures that could only be seen by people who had seen death. It reminded her of the tales of Absol, who had a rotten reputation because the Disaster Pokémon showed themselves when tragedy was near, only to be vilified.

The girl reached into her back to pull out a few berries, and tossed them near the Thestrals, and some of the younger calves approached them warily. She paid little mind to them, then went on her way.

Anna closed her eyes, breathing in the scent of the forest, letting it remind her of home. The overwhelming power of the earth and the magic drenching the whole area made her magic and aura sing, pleased with the feeling.

Her body glowed blue as her aura expressed itself, connecting with the magic of the forest in a spiritual level.

Eventually, she reached a lake, and withdrew a pokéball from her pack, releasing the Samurott within. It roared as the large Pokémon hit the water and made a pleased noise when it felt the clean water of the lake.

"Sammy!" Anna yelled, grinning, while she waded out to reach the Water type Pokémon. "I've missed you. It's been a while since you were out of your ball." The Samurott crooned at the trainer, allowing her to pat his head, and splashed before swimming into deeper waters.

The girl watched the Pokémon play in the water, swimming like he was using Aqua Jet. For all she knew he probably was. Withdrawing her wand, she conjured a blanket, setting it on the shoreline and sitting on it, watching as the water type swam.

As minutes passed, she decided to give Sammy a playmate, and released a Buizel, which immediately ran off to join the Samurott. Anna closed her eyes and started focusing, spreading her magic and aura through the air. She felt the castle's magic connect with hers, creating a web of magic that spanned the whole area of the castle, giving an insight to the people that resided in its walls.

One of the brightest flares of magic could be felt in the seventh floor of the castle, and the girl knew what she was looking at. Albus Dumbledore.

Anna stood up, vanishing the blanket with a wand flick, and blew a sharp whistle with her fingers. Both Pokémon perked up and made their way back to the trainer, and she recalled them both. As an afterthought, she released Jolt, her small Joltik. The girl let it climb into a pocket, the small bug soaking up the static when it burrowed into the fabric.

As the disguised woman made her way into the castle, she passed by students, who chattered on about their finals to their peers. A good number of them were light oriented, although some were grey, and a dozen or so had budding dark inclined magical cores.

Climbing the stairs, she found herself on the seventh floor, standing in front of a blank wall. An odd statue was a few yards away, and she was bewildered. It was clear that she was standing near the lightest beacon of magic in the whole castle, but there was nothing there.

The girl started to pace, wondering how she could even evaluate the wizard if he wasn't even present, when she heard a noise.

Looking back at the wall, she saw that a door had materialized, the frame enormous and with a dark brown wood. Anna stared at the doorknob situated innocently on the door, then opened it.

The room was huge, with items piled up in it, shelves and shelves of books lining the corners and walls of the room. It looked bigger than an average classroom, and trinkets littered the floor. The only clear space in the room held a mirror that was easily more than three meters tall, and it looked magnificent.

The girl cautiously approached it, measured steps echoing slightly as she reached the mirror.

"What are you?" she asked, intrigued, for it was lined with gold and had a widely embellished top. It looked like there were letters carved along the top edge, words that made no sense.

The words didn't look like any language she knew, even with her large vocabulary, and mouthed the words.

"It's a mirror…but there couldn't possibly be a meaning in there. Unless…" she pondered it for a moment, mumbling to herself.

"If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then what we see reflected in mirrors reveal what our souls desire," she mused, then made use of a flagrate spell with the sharp motions of letters, replicating the words, then flicked her wand, letting the letters rearrange themselves.

"I show not your face but your heart's desire," the red words glared back at the girl, who verbalized them. "My heart's desire? I wonder what that is."

Jolt crawled out of her pocket, curious to see what the girl was muttering about.

Two pairs of eyes looked at what the girl stared at, then it squeaked, making motions with its little claws. "Jolt? You see what?" Anna asked, puzzled, and looked into the mirror. She frowned, uncertain about what the Joltik was squeaking about.

"What do you mean? I only see us," the girl said slowly, confused, "I certainly don't see a Galvantula nest, little one."

The Joltik made an angry squeak, then crawled on top of the girl's head, the static frizzing her hair.

"It means you do not wish for anything," a voice called out from behind Anna, and she whirled around, the flagrate charm fading, and pointed her wand at the speaker.

A man in his mid-forties wearing typical teacher clothing stood before her, his whole stance unhurried and posture relaxed.

"Oh. Dumbledore, I'm guessing? You're a very hard man to find," Anna boldly stated, then lowered her wand when he didn't move.

"Not too difficult, I hope?" the man asked, and unlike Grindelwald, he did have humor hidden in blue eyes.

"Finite incantatem," the girl then muttered, and felt herself lose the modifications she made, now back to her normal height and appearance. The robes that imitated Hogwarts robes turned back into muggle clothing, and her hair changed back to its long locks. "I'm not here to fight."

"I can't imagine you are, or the wards wouldn't have let you in," the man agreed, "What brings you to Hogwarts today, my dear?"

"Jolt, stay in my bag," Anna ordered the small spider Pokémon, and it squeaked, crawling into a side pocket. "Don't call me 'my dear'. I'm not your anything." She scowled at the familiar term.

"My apologies. What is your name?" Dumbledore asked while scrutinizing the young woman.

"Anna. Just that for now," the girl gave him that much, before glancing backwards at the mirror. "Do you think this mirror uses Legilimency? To see what people want the most?" she asked, "Heart's desire is such a vague term. Is it what you want? Or what you need?"

"Many men have wasted away in front of the Mirror of Erised," the Professor explained, "There is little known to how such an item came to be. However, this mirror isn't why you are here today."

"No. I have little use for trinkets," the girl agreed, before she turned back to Dumbledore, stowing away her wand. "I wanted to know who you are. Not how people see you as. I've heard many things about you, Mr. Dumbledore. How you're suspected to have sent Newt Scamander to New York because you suspected there was something wrong. How you're using said Scamander for your own dirty deeds. Yet, I don't think that's the whole story."

Anna made clear motions towards her belt, plucking a pokéball off its resting place.

"I chose you, Gardenia," she pressed the catch, and let the Gardevoir appear next to her. The Pokémon bowed slightly at the trainer, meeting the girl's eyes and connecting telepathically.

"Gardenia, this is Albus Dumbledore. Mr. Dumbledore, this is my Gardevoir, Gardenia," she introduced the Pokémon to the man. "Welcome to my world of Pokémon."

"Magnificent," the man breathed, studying the psychic Pokémon intently with his eyes.

"Yeah. She's an empath. Whatever your mind thinks, it doesn't change what you feel. Emotions, like hatred and love and acceptance and hope and sadness, they're what drives people to their actions," Anna reached a hand to the Gardevoir, and Gardenia took it. "She can also see the future. And I want to see what your possible futures are."

"The future is a dangerous area to play in," Dumbledore told her calmly, "While it is not set in stone, every action can change history." It sounded like he was well versed in Seeing, and Anna had no doubts it was from Grindelwald.

"I don't need you to tell me so I can See it," Anna grinned, before jerking her head towards the Gardevoir, "Gardenia, Future sight!"

Gardenia made a low tone, her red eyes closing as she started to glow a light blue. The telepathic connection opened between Trainer and Pokémon, reflecting whatever the psychic type was seeing.

The vision started with Dumbledore meeting Newt on top of a building. Then, it shifted to a group of wizards and witches in Auror robes walking into the castle, Dumbledore fitted with magically conjured tracking bracelets, then Newt Scamander handing the Professor what looked to be a pendant.

Anna pushed for Gardenia to look further, and saw a peculiar scene, of what looked to be a duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald fighting, both of them much older, and then a wand with carvings of elder berries along the length of it. Then, a young boy growing into a man with hollow brown eyes. The man faded away, and abruptly, the vision was full of fire, a scream, and the green flash of an Avada Kedavra.

The strain of looking too far became too much, and the girl was forcefully ejected from the vision. She hit the floor, and the faint trickling of warm liquid coming from her nose smelled strongly of iron, giving her the impression that her nose was bleeding.

"Miss Anna!" the Professor proclaimed, quickly walking to the girl, who groaned. He stopped when the younger witch shouted a sharp, "Don't touch me!" Anna's eyes opened weakly as she picked herself off the floor, paying no attention to the blood slowly dripping down her chin, instead favoring pointing her wand at the man.

"I swear if you fucking touch me, I'll bombarda your face off!" she threatened, before waving her wandless hand in front of her face to get the blood off. She could feel burning hatred searing through her veins, born from the knowledge that she never meant to see.

"You are a cancer, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. You…your decisions will destroy Magic herself. The pain, and death you will influence will destroy thousands, if not millions. You need to learn, that your actions have consequences," the girl spat, like it was venom. Her eyes glowed blue green as her aura reacted defensively, giving Anna an otherworldly appearance.

"What did you see?" asked Dumbledore, seemingly unaffected by Anna's sudden hostility and aggression.

"Many things. I need to tell you this, and I need you to know this right now," Anna stated coldly, "That the Light is not always good, and that the Dark is not always evil. Who blames the knife for being sharp? Who blames the lion for eating meat? The Greater Good is not all that is good, and you need to see that the Lesser Good is no less good." She put away her wand again and glanced at Gardenia.

"The world is much more complex than you think. Playing chess and using human lives are two different things. I believe in Free Will, not deception and guilt. Something you know so much about," she spat with disdain. "Good day, Mr. Dumbledore. Hope we don't meet again." Anna recalled Gardenia, a wave of her hand replacing her disguise.

The Trainer turned around, taking great glee in the sight of the man speechless.

"Who knows? The future isn't set in stone, as you said. Maybe you'll learn something, old man. Ta ta!"

Anna left the room, her smirk fading as she walked at a brisk pace. She didn't look back, not caring if the man ran after her. The girl brushed past many older students, who didn't even glance in her direction.

The young woman returned to the Dark Forest, walking among nature while her mind tumbled over the Visions she saw. Anna pulled off a small necklace, tugging so the magnetic clasps separated. It was a light ball with a small hole drilled into it, something she had accidentally kicked while exploring Johto.

It was turned into a portkey that was registered to her home, which she had filed with the Ministry with the permission to make it. Anna rolled it between her fingers, feeling the ridiculously smooth glass sphere, and she made a small note to spell the chain, so it was unbreakable.

She had foreseen Dumbledore meeting with Newt, standing on top of a rooftop of all things overlooking Trafalgar Square. It was obvious that Dumbledore had set up the meeting, since Newt had felt like a free spirit, a man with Wanderlust that resonated in his soul.

Eventually, there will be a full blown war, with Dumbledore and Grindelwald fighting to the end. It was funny, how grown adults could be like little children. It was also sad, how humanity here was always fighting.

While Anna's own world wasn't perfect, the last whispers of war were when she was much younger, when Team Rocket's crimes were more rampant. The news always seemed to be full of stories of how Red, a Pokémon trainer from a place called Pallet Town had either saved Pokémon or defeated and stopped some of the Rocket Admin's plans.

In her world's America, going by the rumors of Lt. Surge's Gym Trainers, that America had been in conflict with some other region for years, but it hadn't expanded into the other regions. Her thoughts slipped as she tripped over a large rock, nearly making her fall into a tree.

"Ow!" she whined, shoving moss off her hands that had seemingly accumulated when she stopped her fall. The girl then shook her annoyance off, taking more caution in where she walked.

The second thing she wanted to think about was the so-called Mirror of Erised. It was interesting, that an object could make anyone see what they really wanted. Even more was her own experience with it. It made her wonder why she could only see herself and Jolt, while the Pokémon saw something completely different.

The Trainer was used to being away from home, carrying her Pokémon with her in their balls, and she hadn't seen her uncle more than a dozen or so times when she was traveling to different regions. All she ever needed was her Pokémon.

Once, when she was eighteen, she saw Ho-oh once. Maybe, the sight of the Rainbow Pokémon those years ago was not just a coincidence. She knew about the rumors, the data from her Pokédex also stating that the mythical only revealed itself to people with pure souls. Even more, there were rumors that said that Ho-oh would grant the person a wish, kind of like Jirachi.

It didn't look like Anna would have a pure soul for much longer. The only goal she ever had was the dream to always be able to help any creature that needed her assistance, no matter the cost. Even if Ho-Oh didn't affect her, the plot of Team Flare's Project AZOTH with Xerneas could also have a hand.

The girl stopped in her tracks, a sudden cold spreading in her body. If that was the case…she'd have to see the Pokémon she had raised and cared for since they broke out of their eggs get older and eventually…die. Eventually, there would be new Pokémon, those who had never even had the chance of stepping foot in their own world, would never see the world that their parents had grown up in.

Was this her fate, wandering in a world where she'd never fit in? Or was it an opportunity to live a life able to use a power that ran in her veins, and be able to protect the Pokémon she cared for? Maybe, when the war was won, she'd be able to travel this world, placing Pokémon in similar habitats and planting the seeds of her world's berries all over the planet.

Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.

Anna had to figure out something, preferably soon. Maybe Newt Scamander could help. He was Dumbledore's Champion, after all.

The girl replaced her necklace, saying the key words. "Bring me home."

The only sound was a light pop, Anna disappearing.
