I was still so angry at Inuyasha when I woke up. I put locks on my door so he couldn't get in. A few times I heard my doorknob jiggle slightly and I even heard soft cursing coming from the other side of the door. I was glad I found some enchantments that made it pretty impossible to break open the door. I went and grabbed my brush and ran it through my long black hair. Then I put some make up over my giant purple hickey.
Inuyasha would be lucky if I ever let him kiss me again. Why did he have to be so possessive? Once I was dressed in some jeans and a pink shirt, I grabbed my purse and opened my door quietly. I nearly screamed when I saw Inuyasha sleeping out in the hall. What the hell? Why didn't he just go back to his own room?
I shut my door softly so he wouldn't hear it and then quiet as a mouse walked down the hall trying not to make as noise as he snored softly while his arm over his eyes. I knew that even if he slept deeply, he still might be able to hear me if I made too much noise or the wrong noise. I managed to make it outside successfully without alerting him. I walked over to a big black SVU that looked really expensive. Rin and Sesshomaru were standing next to it. Rin smiled as I walked up to them.
"Wow this car is huge."
"Sesshomaru insisted." Rin said blushing slightly.
"It is the safest vehicle. Humans are foolish and incompetent when driving." Rin too had an overprotective mate. She looked a little embarrassed but she didn't comment on it. Not that it would even help.
"Well thank you Sesshomaru." I said trying move past this uncomfortable moment.
He nodded, "Where is Inuyasha?" Rin asked curiously.
"Oh well he wanted to sleep in…" I said giving a small little laugh. I was such a liar but I really didn't want to tell them that I was mad he gave me a huge hickey. That would be a whole new level of humiliation.
"Really? I'm surprised he wanted to sleep in and let you come to the mall without him. I figured he would want to go everywhere with you since…you know the…incident." Rin said sheepishly.
"Oh, she's not going anywhere without me." I heard an all too familiar voice behind me say while feeling a warm arm wrap around my waist. I looked over as Inuyasha pulled me to his side.
"Inuyasha." I said through gritted teeth, "It's pretty early for you to be up…why don't you go back to bed I'll be fine with Rin and Sesshomaru." I tried to inch away from him but he held onto me in an inescapable grasp. Stupid demon strength.
"No way am I leaving you alone with Sesshomaru. He can barely protect his mate as it is." He said.
Sesshomaru arched a brow while he looked bored at this conversation, "Oh? Wasn't it you that had to tend to your mate for weeks because you couldn't keep her safe?"
"Shut up you stupid bastard!" Inuyasha yelled.
"Please stop fighting! We are supposed to be having a fun day today." Rin said looking distressed.
I didn't see how we were supposed to have a fun day with Inuyasha and Sesshomaru at each other's throats. And with me furious at Inuyasha for last night. I could see he wanted to talk to me about it but luckily, he wouldn't bring it up in front of Rin and Sesshomaru. After all, Sesshomaru already made a dig at Inuyasha for being a bad mate.
"Let's just try to make the best of this." I said with a forced smile.
Sesshomaru nodded and held the door open for Rin and me to climb into the car. When Inuyasha tried to get in he slammed the door in front of his face.
"OW! What the hell did you do that for?" Inuyasha said rubbing his bleeding nose. Rin sighed and gave Sesshomaru a look.
"My hand slipped." Sesshomaru said simply and shrugged. He sat down next to Rin and buckled her seatbelt. It was kind of cute how protective he was of Rin.
Inuyasha ripped the door back open and glared at Sesshomaru. "Try that again and next time I'll rip your hands from your arms so you don't have any more accidents!"
I sat in the back and Inuyasha climbed back in there with me. I made sure to buckle myself in so he wouldn't do it for me. As he put his arm around my shoulders, I looked out the window so I wouldn't have to look at him. I knew it would be useless to shrug his arm off. Inuyasha leaned down and kissed the top of my head.
I would not melt. Not for him. Not after last night. As Sesshomaru ordered the driver to take us to the mall Rin began talking about one of her classes to Sesshomaru. He listened to her as if what she said was the most fascinating thing. Inuyasha took advantage of them not paying attention to us.
"Kagome." He said softly.
"Don't. I don't want to hear it." I said still refusing to look at him.
He kept going on, "I shouldn't have done what I did last night. I should have asked first. Please don't stay mad at me."
"You always ask for forgiveness but you still do the next crazy thing without thinking about how I might feel." I said trying not to yell at him. Luckily Rin was still going on about her one class.
"I know. I'm new at this stuff. I just want to be a good mate but it drives me crazy when you are around other males. Especially that no good mutt Koga." He said growling softly.
"Do you not trust me? Is that it?" I asked.
"I trust you Kagome. I just don't trust Koga and what he will do."
"It takes two to do anything Inuyasha. You need to have more faith in people. Not everyone is evil. Or out to get you." I said now looking at him.
His voice gentled and his eyes softened, "Your still new to this world Kagome. Yeah, not everyone is evil but many are. You're the only good thing in my life. It's why I want to protect you so much. I don't want you to get hurt. If that means I have to be the bad guy then fine. If it means you get angry with me then I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is you hating me."
"I don't hate you Inuyasha." I said looking surprised, "I happen to like you a lot."
He smiled at me, "Yeah I feel the same. So does that mean you forgive me?" He asked looking hopeful.
"Nope." I said turning back to the window.
"What? But you just said…"
"I said I like you…but that doesn't mean I liked what you did last night. So, you can suffer for a little more while Rin and I shop."
"What does that mean?" He asked.
"It means." I said looking back at his annoyed face, "No kissing or hugging the whole mall trip. If you can keep your temper in check and not cause a scene at the mall then maybe by tonight, I'll forgive you." I said.
"Fine. I can do that." He nodded while looking sure of himself.
I really hoped he could. He seemed to have a hard time controlling his temper.
