Episode One: Just a TV Show?
Ashla Moltono yawned after just finishing a long day at school. She opened up her phone, seeing her Amphibia lock screen instantly appear. She smiled at the animated image of Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu before proceeding to check her messages. She found a message from her Abuelo that he was outside the school. She grinned and continued on her way out of the building. She got in the car, responding with her usual, "Today was great" when Abuelo asked her how her day was. The ride home was silent, which was unusual. Ashla sighed as she got out of the beat up old van. She walked into the house, preparing to do her math homework. She turned on the TV and found that her favorite show, Amphibia, was on. Ash smiled and watched, completely ignoring her homework. Before she knew it, she had rewatched the entire first season and hadn't even touched her homework. "¡Ay mierda!" she exclaimed. Ashla groaned and got to work. Finally, at about one in the morning, she finished what she had sat down to do about nine hours before. Granted, she had finished Amphibia at twelve thirty. Ash then packed up her stuff and got ready for bed. Just as she left the room, however, the TV sparked. Ash looked back and saw this happen. "Que?" she asked herself. The TV sparked again. She heard the Amphibia theme song playing eerily in the background. Ash began to feel slightly afraid. She watched the screen spark one more time before a spark flew at her. She saw a swirl of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Finally, she blacked out.
"Hey!" exclaimed a voice, calling Ashla back to consciousness, "Hey are you okay!?" Ash slightly opened her eyes, finding someone looking down at her. That someone… was familiar. Not someone that Ashla really knew… but someone she was familiar with. "M-Marcy?" she stuttered.
"How do you know my name?" she asked, "How did you get here? Where are you from? What's your name? Wh-" "Por favor," said Ash, "Not so many questions." "Right, sorry," said Marcy, "But seriously. How do you know my name!?" "I- uh-" stuttered Ashla, "I've seen missing posters of you around town! Yeah! Your parents are so worried about you!" "They weren't worried about me when they decided to separate me from my friends," muttered Marcy. "That's awful!" exclaimed Ash, "But… am I in Amphibia by chance?" "How do you know about this place?" asked Marcy. "I read about it," lied Ash, "It's one of the many realms in our multiverse. Such as the Boiling Isles, Mewny, Earth- a bunch of other Earths." "Wow," said Marcy, "Well let me help you inside the castle." I must be dreaming! thought Ashla, Amphibia is just a TV show! Isn't it?
"King Andrias!" exclaimed Marcy, dragging Ashla into the throne room, "I found another human just outside the city gates! This is- what's your name?" "Ashla Moltono, your highness," I said, bowing before the secretly evil king of Amphibia. "Oh this is delightful!" said Andrias, "Now tell me, how did you get here?" "Well," said Ash, "One second, I'm watching TV at home, and the next I wake up outside this city." "Do you remember anything before?" asked Andrias, "What were you watching on this 'TV'?" "I can't remember," said Ashla skeptically, "All I know is that it was about an evil king planning an invasion on another world…" "That seems oddly suggestive," said Andrias. The two paused and glared at each other for a while. They then both burst out laughing. "That's a good one!" laughed Andrias, "Marcy, take her to your room, treat her to all the finest things in the castle!" "Yes sir!" replied Marcy, "Let's go!" Marcy then grabbed Ashla's hand and dragged her up to her room.
"So," said Marcy, "How big of a deal are my parents making my disappearance?" asked Marcy. "It's just that," lied Ashla, "It is a big deal! I couldn't imagine what it would be like if my daughter ran away." Marcy stayed silent. "But hey," said Ash, "Now you're here, and so am I. And I'm gonna guess that those other two girls that went missing are too." "You're right," said Marcy, "Thank you Ashla." "Please just call me Ash," said Ashla, "And… de nada." "Now," said Marcy, "Whaddya wanna do?" "I don't know," said Ash, "What is there to do in this city?" "Oh my goodness where do I start!?" exclaimed Marcy, "Newtopia is the capital of Amphibia! There's thousands of things to do here! It's the New York City of this realm!" "Cool," said Ash tiredly. "Let's go!" exclaimed Marcy, dragging Ash out into the city. "¡Deja de arrastrarme!"
"General Yunnan," said Andrias, "I don't like the looks of that new human that showed up today. Keep an eye on her and Marcy today during their outing." "Yes sire," said Yunnan, leaving the room after receiving her orders.
"So where are you taking me?" asked Ash. "I'm taking you to… the aquarium!" "The what now?" asked Ash, remembering the episode of Amphibia, A Day at the Aquarium. Marcy dragged Ash into the aquarium, not even acknowledging the fact that Ash could walk by herself. The pair walked into the river exhibit, finding the river creatures that Anne and Sprig encountered when their basement flooded. Marcy smiled and dragged Ash to the coral exhibit, where they saw several pieces of coral that very closely resembled all of Anne and the Plantars' adventures. Now I understand why they were so sad, thought Ash, But there's still no way this can be real. I'm definitely dreaming. Ash then ran into a wall. "Hijo de un-" "Are you okay!?" stressed Marcy, leaning down to help her up. When Marcy pulled her up, their faces got really really close, which made Ash's face light up with blush. Ash immediately backed up from the girl. "Hey are you okay?" asked Marcy, "Your face just got really red." "It's just a little hot in here!" lied Ashla, "Could we go?" "There's a stingray show outside in the fresh air if you wanna go see that first," said Marcy. "I guess," sighed Ash, "But I'm kinda tired. Newtopia and- this whole world is a bit overwhelming for me… especially considering none of it should exist." "Yeah," agreed Marcy, "Now come on!" This time, Marcy gently extended her hand for the Latina girl to take. Ashla sheepishly took her hand and followed Marcy to the stingray show. The pair sat down next to each other, Marcy not letting go of Ashla's hand. What's going on!? Ash thought, Why am I feeling this way about a cartoon character!? Besides, I ship Marcanne- HARD! "You okay?" asked Marcy, a look of pure concern in her eyes. "I'm f-fine," stuttered Ashla. "Okay," said Marcy with a smile, realizing she was still holding her hand, "Oh I'm so sorry if I was making you uncomfortable!" "I-It's okay," said Ashla, moving her hand away from Marcy's, "Now be quiet, the show is starting."
"Hmmm," Yunnan muttered, "This girl doesn't seem suspicious… she does get awful red around Marcy though. I still had better keep the king's orders." She watched the pair of humans as they watched the beauty of the stingrays. Yunnan smiled for a brief moment as a stingray leaped over the water, the beautiful sunset behind it. "General Yunnan," said a guard, snapping her out of her trance, "The king has summoned you." Yunnan nodded and followed the guard back to the palace.
"That was totally worth staying for!" said Ash, "Thank you… Marcy." "Hey it's no big deal," said Marcy, "I think we should head back to the palace now. It's getting dark." "Okay," said Ash, smiling brightly. Marcy blushed a bit before taking the girl's hand and leading her back to the palace. Ash started to shiver slightly. Marcy noticed this and took off her cape. She then wrapped the cape around Ash's shoulders. "You looked cold," said Marcy. Ash blushed and smiled. Maybe I can switch to Sashanne, she thought. Ash rested her head on Marcy's shoulder as they walked back to the palace, both girls feeling an instant connection, despite having just met a few hours before. "Thanks Mar Mar," said Ash, "I can call you that, right?" "Of course, Ash," said Marcy, "Of course."
