Crash Landing

A landing module smoldering with heat hangs by the ropes of the parachute. The hull burned and damaged with exposed wires suspending out, releasing sparks and crackles of electricity that echo throughout the building; light shines through the hole, apparently where it crashed through. Inside the module rest, a young man who slowly opened his eyes to find himself in a mysterious yet familiar metal capsule he noticed he accidentally laid his hand on an inhaler, grabbing it and attempting to interpret the corroded description. "Xenon?" Confused, he unfastened the straps and got off the seat, but in doing so, a loud creak took place. He slowly moved towards the hatch carefully; he opened it and peeked outside to realize he is 30 meters suspended off the ground; suddenly, the cables snapped. Then, almost spontaneously, the module began to fall.

Clinging onto the entrance, he braced for impact, yelling in fear. But as quickly as it fell, it stopped instantly, ending in him slamming his head onto the bottom of the frame. He groaned in pain while cursing; He gazed above him to see the only thing that prevents his inevitable doom is a couple of threads of parachute lines. He had to get out of the capsule. He observed more of his area to see if he could climb on. He saw the building he's in resembles a mall with an abundance of overgrowth wherever he looked. He spotted a cross bridge, but it's too far away for him to reach; he began to ponder an idea. He had to swing the capsule to gain momentum and jump towards the ledge. Still, chances are the amount of stress will be too intense for the rope to handle, but he has no choice either way. He lamented. "Here goes nothing." He began by moving back and forth, generating momentum while doing so, the creaking intensifies. And with the final swing, he jumped, reaching his arms out for the railing. He managed to grab the bar, He quickly tried to pull himself up, but the barrier began to break, now hanging on by a screw. The young man laid still for a moment till finally, with his other hand, he slowly crept up but as shortly as he did, the bolt finally broke. Instants after falling, he clutched a vine and tried to slow his fall but ended up landing with a thud. The young man groaned with misery. He looked at his hand and saw it was severely rashed and cut. Still, before he could address his wounds, a blood-curdling shriek echoed all around the mall. Striving to figure out where it came from, he looked around in all directions to find nothing. Then, he heard a rumble behind him. He turned around to meet an 8-meter long and 3-meter wide centipede with huge mandibles and large black beady eyes.

Hastily he began to run, but he couldn't get far before tripping on a root; he twisted himself around, wriggling backward, keeping his eye on the nightmare of a creature. It got closer and closer, moving in a zig-zag pattern; it was so close he could see the saliva dribbling out of its mouth But wait, unexpectedly, the ropes to the parachute finally gave out, letting the module fall right on top of the centipede guts. All kinds of bug bits were splatter around. "Waking up, to near death and monstrous insects." He marked sarcastically. Disgusted, he began to wipe insect guts that were splattered all over his uniform. He heard more screeches from the direction where the centipede arrived. Hoards of insects were starting to spread out of the stores and windows of the mall. "Oh God, give me a break!"

Before running, he had a sudden need to check inside the module. He found a Rifle that was undoubtedly he thought was his, a flashlight, two flares, and a first aid kit. Not enough time to get the rest of the items, the insect hoard was already swarming towards him. He dashed down the hallway fixing his Rifle. He passed many stores and vaulted over tables and debris that laid about the mall. He turned around to notice some insects are starting to depart in different directions. He continued to run down the straight, only to meet a hoard of insects, stopping him right on his track. He turned to his left to only find another swarm of insects surrounding him. "Sly bastards!" Desperately he tried to find a way out. He spotted a fire exit right behind himself, and with no time to waste, he quickly dashed towards it, entering and closing the fire exit door behind him. The door had a glass window for him to peak through, and upon looking, the insects started to make their way towards the door. He started sprinting up the stairs. Halfway up, the door burst open, unleashing a sea of insects squirming their way up. He ran faster up the stairs, and finally, he found the roof exit and barged his way through. The sun's light stung his eyes; He squinted until he could regain his sight. "What!?" Confused, he saw a wrecked machine resembling a mechanized robot the size of the tallest structure at the time or at least in his, and the cities were huge, covering mountains and every piece of terrain. He couldn't believe it. It was all these things that he thought were only possible in science fiction.

But leaving him no time to contemplate. They have already swarmed out of the door. His run commenced again; the insects came out of the ventilation shaft and through all kinds of crevices. He shot across the glass roof of the mall. He jumped and ducked over multiple ventilation units. Finally, he came across a fire escape ladder. A padlock held the ladder; Therefore, he aimed at the lock with his Rifle and shot it. With sparks, the ladder dropped. He quickly mounted it and started to climb down. The hoard of Anthropods was still pursuing him, so he picked up his pace and began to slide down. Once down, he had no idea where he is; this city was foreign to him. He heard more screeching of the deadly swarm, so either way, he had to leave.
