The Golden Crowns
Chapter 2: Unraveling Secrets
Upon getting her replay, Hachiman took the time to getting dressed in a more proper change of clothes for his outing. Dark navy blue jeans, dark brown leather steel toe shoes and a dark grey button shirt underneath his dark brown jacket with pockets on the inside and outside.
He even put on black fingerless gloves and took to hiding a knife within the inside of his jacket.
While his choice of clothing might seem nothing special, just clothes suited for the cold climate. But unless you were him and Minami, to the train eye you would see the numerous amounts of spells written over their clothing in an invisible form of magic writing.
This spells were simply there to add protection to him, protection from extreme heat and cold, bullets, blasts, 20,000 pounds of sudden pressure, fire resistance and even acid and magic penetration and intense durability enhancement.
Their was more to be listed but that would take a bit to long to name them all, and while it might sound a bit overkill and even perhaps a bit unnecessary to have so many protection spells on himself.
But you be surprise that even with so many spells, and how high caliber they were. It would be just 'barely enough' to protect him when out on duty.
Going into reach inside his closet, at first sight their was his and Izanami's set of clothes all but organized with hers on the left and his on the right. He looked behind him towards the door to make sure nobody was watching him before he reached to touch the wall of the closet before pushing his hand on the wall.
This caused the wall to open inwards, to which reveal an entire new room that didn't exist in the house.
He walked in rather quick to make sure none of the girls would walk in on him using magic before he looked to the left of the room filed with all kinds of relics and artifacts, lost items, weapons of high caliber and armor plating and on the wall ahead of him was a large collection of potions and spell books he keep for himself.
Going to his eight shelf he reached to grab a black Katana with the blade being a dark black color that when hold you couldn't even see the reflection of light on it, and it weighted quite a bit but it was light compare to him for he had used much heavier weapons on the past.
And as he held the blade in his hand, he pointed the tip of his blade inside his jacket to which he simply made it vanish as he closed his jacket, he open the first set of drawers to pull out some small black knives that had a red glow on the edges of the sharp black blade, this went into the insides of his sleeves before pulling out two small black cubes that were no bigger than two inches on all sides.
And lastly he brought out a pair of black bracelets that had a glow of violet color in the middle. This were meant to help concentrate his flow of magic a bit better and help him keep his magic under control when using a bit to much of his magic.
They were mainly built to help protect others from himself, last thing you want is him at his worst possible state of rage where a storm of purple lighting is raining around you and each strike is powerful enough and hot to the point that it can ignite a living being to a burning crisp.
He didn't needed to be reminded of the smell of burning flesh in the air and smoke that engulfed the atmosphere.
Stepping out the room he closed the door behind him as it closed without a single trace that it was even there, making sure everything he took with him was hidden away. He stepped out of the room while sending a text to Minami as he stepped down the flight of stairs.
"Got myself geared up, I'll meet you at the train station in 15 minutes"
"Same here, already at the station just enjoying a drink for myself right now. I'll be waiting"
Putting his phone away in his pocket he reached the living room in which his family and his eight girls were watching the TV in the living room, the first to notice him come down was Kurumi.
"Dad are you leaving now?", the others turn to look at him as he was standing in the middle of the hallway to which he gave a quick nod before replaying.
"I am, me and Minami have something to do that's quite important. Every weekend we head out north to handle some business that has us busy for a few hours. If everything goes smoothly which is a rare occasion I should be back home in eight to nine hours from now. Katsumi you are in charge of looking after your sisters, and mother if you plan on taking the girls out to the mall or somewhere that's fine but please if by chance you see any of the seven girls that are there mothers. Avoid them for the day as much as possible, I don't want to be rushing things as it is right now. So until then please be careful, I'll be back soon alright".
But before he could even make on step forward, Sora the dark pink haired girl came out of nowhere flying thru the air before bear hugging him with such sheer force that even his spells on his jacket had endure most of the force she was applying on him.
"Promise me to come back safe ok dad, I want to spend some time with you once you get back ok", she said with a sad smile as she had tears at the corners of her eyes that were just moments away from spilling down her face.
"I will Sora, I promise I won't be leaving your girls behind like I did in your worlds alright. This time I'll be here to stay with you guys for the long run", hugging her back in order to comfort the girl.
Honestly he felt bad for lying to her, but he needed to in order to not worried them to much considering if they knew what he did with Minami. They would be extremely fearful over his safety and wouldn't dare let him get away from their sight.
Especially for Sora at the moment, only now did he recall her memories of the day that he left home when WW3 had begun in which he was a Pilot for the military, a top Elite Ace Pilot who after the first bombs were drop on their neighboring allied nation in Korea by the Chinese and North Korea.
He was called into action as their allied nations as well as the enemy allied nations started their attacks into South Korea and advancing their military force to Taiwan and Japan.
He fought in the war for a whole 2 years before he was shoot down after doing a bomb run at the enemy's base before he crashed, for Sora who was waiting for his return back home from the war, she woke up that morning ready to head off to school.
When she open up that front door, she was greeted by two men dressed in military uniform who greeted her before delivering her a letter before giving her the heart breaking news that her father Hikigaya Hachiman had been killed in the line of duty serving his nation in their darkest hours.
This left her hating the idea of ever flying or seeing a military plane as it gave her nightmares and reminded her of her father's death.
It took him a few more words of comforting the dark pink hair girl, and receiving a few quick hugs from his girls before he left the house after saying his goodbyes.
Now that he was out of the house, he made his way to the train station that he and Minami had agreed in meeting. He was able to run at a fast pace without breaking a sweet and avoiding some obstacles on the way.
Once he did arrive at the train station, he spotted Minami leaning up against a wall as she had a book in hand while holding a drink in her hand. Dressed in black jeans, red runner shoes with black laces, a black t-shirt underneath her red jacket with a black scar around her neck.
Her red crimson hair flowed down to her waist to which complimented her stunning beauty along with her crimson red eyes that really stood out in the open.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, had some things to do before leaving the house" he said as he let out a tried sigh while stepping a bit closer to Minami.
"Hmm sounds like it was rough, what did Alice or Hatsume tried to follow you out again?". She expressed a playful smile having to remember the countless times Alice or Hatsume had tried to persuade him in allowing them to come with him on the weekends or their failed attempts in following him without being caught by him.
"No... it's something else, I'll explain it to you later on once we are done for the day. It's a bit over complicated and I rather not talk about it right now, I'll tell you once we are done with today".
"Huh that bad huh?, well alright then I'll hear you out later. Well let's get going shall we, at this point I am not sure just how bad things might be on the other 'side', last week was a mess".
"Yeah don't reminded me about it, we both almost ended up blowing ourselves to ashes. Alright let's go already", with that being said the two started walking towards the line that awaited for the train to arrive, once it did they hopped on board before entering one of the cabins that had a close door that lead into a smaller compartment with no visible windows.
Once inside, the two used a spell in which instantly transported them both to their next destination without leaving a trace of their presence behind.
Meanwhile in another world
"Keep firing!"
"Don't let this things get any closer, we have to hold them off until help arrives"
"Jesus christ this things just keep fucking coming"
"In the name of the lord I'll shall eradicate you demons back to HELL!"
A line of men dress in military uniforms shouted as they held the front lines as they defended the outer perimeter of the city from demonic creatures that had a black violet body mass that seem to shift and change while having disfigured legs and a head that looked to be a mix of different creatures with a large jaw and razor sharp teethes that were a gold color.
This monstrosities let out howls of screams and roars that sounded deep and harrowing in nature as they ran in their direction towards the city.
The line of military men open fire on the monsters using their assault rifles as they fire shots after shots before the clip ran dry and having to switch to a new clip and pulling the lever back before continuing fire.
As far as anyone could see, the entire world was in a state of chaos over the past month, ever since this terrifying horde of demonic entities came about reeking hell on the other side of the world from which they came crawling out from some sort of black gateway from the ground.
As they spread across the world, with each mangle corpse they left behind in their slaughter. The land around them would start to decay and rot, waters begun to boil and turn hot, the land would wither away all vegetation and wild life that took to the skies and the lands and seas weren't spare either by their blood lust and their craving for a kill.
The skies above them were becoming dark and little by little the entire world was being engulfed into darkness.
This world wasn't as advance in terms of technology like the world in which we lived in. This world could be said to be close to the 1930s perhaps with the way things seem old fashion and the soldiers using guns that looked a bit outdated compare to ours.
The soldiers fighting at the front lines were trying their best to hold the demonic creatures back from reaching the perimeter of the city while citizens and injured soldiers were being held in the center of the city while their generals and leaders were trying to figure something out.
When you are told that this city is the last still standing human city in the entire world with every other nation having to already fall to ruins as thousands of mangled and bloody bodies litter the lands in all directions.
And with even bigger creatures coming into view in the far horizons, with limited supplies that were being depleted faster than they could spare it.
Things didn't look all too well, planes from above were making trips around the city and dropped bombs on the hordes that came in large groups towards the city.
Their bombing runs sent powerful earth shattering earthquakes across the city that could be heard for miles.
For two particular individuals, a boy with short golden hair and green emerald eyes along with his younger sister who also had golden hair and green emerald eyes found themselves fleeing among other people as they each carried a bag over their shoulders as they headed towards the main center of the city hoping to find shelter and safety within.
The two had made a run for this city over the past two weeks when they witness the approaching hordes of demons coming up from over the horizon in that morning when they heard the screams and the struggles of others as they were violently attacked and slaughter and eaten away by those demons.
What was worse was the fact that in their escape, they wanted to save their friends and call out to them so that they could flee the scene of the massacre that was occurring before them in their home town, but that was far to late of a decision as they were about to head in their direction to warn them about the approaching danger.
Their came in their way the hordes of demons with blood dripping down from their mouths like a fountain as their claws were drench in human blood with bits of flesh caught in between their claws and teeth.
By some miracle the two managed to escape their home town and managed to avoid being eaten by the demons when they crossed over a cliff and managed to take the great leap forward and reach the other side by grabbing onto the edge of that cliff before pulling themselves up and continuing to run forth without stopping to turn around for they might fear that a demon could be just right behind them.
"Everyone get inside now!, if you have multiple bags please leave them outside we don't have much space to fit anymore personal belongings", a soldier who appear to be in mid twenties said as he was covered in grim and blood as he had bandages covering his right arm.
Those who heard him threw their extra luggage to the side before entering inside. From here you could see the thousands of people filling up the upper floors as they could be seen looking down on them and others looking out into the distance were the fighting was being carried out by the military forces.
Luckily for the two of them, he only carried one large bag that contains their most essential items and a bit of food and water as well as some personal items and changes of clothes within.
They passed thru the soldier and begun making their way towards the stone stairs up to the second floor.
They could hear the panic voices of families, friends and single individuals as they spoke out their concerns and parents trying their best to comfort their crying children while trying their best as to not panic as well.
Others couldn't help but sit in silence while others cried to themselves as they spoke out on how they wish they could have lived a different life from the start for they were disappointed in themselves for having to live such a dull and unyielding life that gave them no happiness.
The boy and his sister took to going up to the sixth floor after walking up the long flight of stairs the occupy others who made due with the stairs to hide and rest in.
Once on the sixth floor, the two made their way into a office room that thankfully was clear of anyone, he lead his sister inside and closed the door behind them before locking it tight.
It might seem selfish to take up a small office room for themselves like that, but as it was he was doing this out of survival and to protect his sister.
They knew things were bad right now and to be quite honest he wasn't confident that the army and the soldiers could hold out against the demons that were approaching the city in larger numbers.
If they reach this building, and started to devour every last person one by one. Then at least they could hope and pray that they could hide out in this room for as long as possible in order to avoid such a painful death.
His sister took a seat on the chair behind the desk in order to rest and ease her sore legs and to catch a few deep breaths after having to run for so long without rest.
Her chest felt like it was on fire and so did her legs, her brother took to moving the large bookshelf to where the door was in order to barricade it and keep themselves safe from the outside.
With that done, the young man begun to take in several deep breaths as he slowly made his way to take a seat next to his sister.
None of them said anything as the sounds of shouting, arguing, fearful cries and panicking voices of people could be heard from outside the office.
Even with the small window in this office, it did little to keep sound away as they could hear the gun fires out in the distance as well as the constant bombardment that were being fired outside the city.
He placed his hands on the desk while leaning forward with his forehead resting on the desk to put his mind at ease, it was only a few short seconds later that he felt the hand of his sister grab his.
He didn't look up for he knew that she had nothing to say at the moment, she just needed his hand to help her ease her growing anxiety and the fear that shook her body like a shaking leaf.
She held her brother's hand tightly as she tried to not cry anymore but with the sounds of distress from the other side of this walls and the sounds of continuing fight in the distance did little to help her.
"Oz... h-how did this all happen?, w-what did we do in order to deserve any of this happing to us", his sister said with such a week tone that carry confusion but sadness as she rested her head on his left shoulder while muttering this words to him.
"I... I don't know Ada, I just don't know. After what happen 6 years ago with those 'Chains' being locked away back into the abyss that should have been the end of it. But those things... they aren't like what we once saw before. They aren't like anything we have ever seen before".
"...what do we do once those things making it inside?. The army won't be able to hold them back much longer, are w-we going to die in here?".
This time she turn around to face him with tears clearly visible on her eyes as her hands were shaking with fear in her eyes.
He embraced her in a hug doing his best to comfort her in the best way possible. He looked out to the window to see rising fire in the distance and the fighter planes that came in different designs and color, all of those pilots within those planes came from multiple nations that had came together under the one duty to protect this city at all costs.
To protect what remain of humanity at all costs possible, if they run out ammunition or bombs then they would use their own planes as a missile to take down those demons down with them.
But as far as he could see, as hopeless as it was. Their was no sign of victory anywhere, in the distance they could see an even bigger wave of demons approaching the city and the skies above were beginning to turn dark and the air seem to get even colder by the minute.
Things were getting bad, and this time he feared he couldn't do anything to save this people or themselves. Oz here was a blood mage, one who could use his very own blood or that of others and use it as weapon or tool to his advantage in combat.
But no amount of skills he had or the sea of blood in the world could help him put a stop to this invasion, he could join the fight down with the soldiers but even so with each demon he killed on his way here, another 5 more came chasing after them.
For each demon that was slayed, more would just keep coming for them without a moment to stop.
"I wish it were not for it Ada, but I don't think there is anything capable of stopping this invasion. But if it comes to it, I'll protect you for as long as possible you hear me, I won't let them get to you".
He held her close as she buried her face into her brother's chest, while the words weren't anything comforting and perhaps harsh to hear that their could be nothing to stop such a nightmare.
It brought out a new sense of fear knowing her brother would put himself in danger in order to protect her, she knew her brother was the best Blood Mage out there to exist, but even his skills and talent alone could only ever do so much in a fight like this.
What could he do alone up against a million or more demons that were on their way to slaughter every living being that was caught in their sights.
"No... please don't, their isn't much you can do now Oz. Please if we are going to die... I rather we die together then to die alone, so please just stay by me".
This time she reached for him to hug him even tighter, hoping that he would hear her request and not leave her sight, if this was the end of their world and to die in just a few more moments.
Then she rather face their death and be swallow into darkness with him by her side, dying alone was the last thing she wanted to experience and so she would hold him tight as to avoid him leaving her.
"Ada... I ha-"
But before he could say anything, their was a bright flash of light far out in the distance that had such a bright and dangerous glow that it's sheer light managed to illuminate the entire city in a bright golden glow.
Then came the after shock, with bright glow of light in the distance with a rising plume of grey clouds rising up to the skies above.
It didn't take long before the stun silence inside this building and outside was soon shaken with a tremendous and violent powerful shock wave the rattle the entire city.
All windows and anything fragile enough to be broken with just bare hands were destroyed in the shockwave, buildings that were to week or damaged already by previous fights begun to fall apart and collapse.
For them this building in general shook with such force that dust and small pieces of sheetrock and wooden pieces of wood that came from expose beams fell from above, the building stood strong but it took a great deal of damage from that shockwave that came from that nuclear weapon that the military had resorted to using to push the demons back.
Dust was in the air in which Oz and Ada begun to cough from the dirty air, thankfully thou with the window already broken. It meant that the dust in the room had a place to leave the room.
"T-they actually used it... I was beginning to wonder when they would do so, I just wonder if it help us or not to buy some more time"
Looking outside he could see the large ball of fire in the far distance and see the rising dark clouds of smoke in the air.
Fighting had stop at the front lines as he didn't hear the sounds of guns firing, looking down he saw that their were no more people fleeing into the inside of this building. Meaning that they had set off the bomb as soon as they got civilians inside the building or deep underground within the metro system.
Honestly why didn't they head down to the metro?, could be safer than being in this building.
Next thing he saw was the sight of tanks from different countries emerging from left and right as they made their way forward to the front lines of the battle.
That nuke might have been enough to wipe a great number of them down to ashes but who knows just how many more might be on their way.
"Looks like reinforcements have arrive, that bomb might be enough to hold them back but I am not sure just much time we were given Ada."
Oz took to leaning up against the wall as he let out a sigh of relief knowing that they could rest easy for now.
Ada sat in her seat as she started out into the broken window seeing the aftermath of the nuke being used just a few miles away from them.
Unlike her brother who had done his service within the military and had fought in battle, she had never seen such things nor has she experience such show of violence.
She was left stun at the sight of a bomb be used right before her very own eyes, and the violent force that sweep thru the land and carried enough force to shake her very being.
She sat quietly as her eyes were fixed on the sight of the bomb, while her brother lean back on the wall trying to figure what would happen next after they dropped that bomb.
Meanwhile as the two siblings sat within the office room, down below as the tanks that were a combine effort of 4 different nations, all men dressed in different uniforms and spoke different languages.
The tanks moved forward while behind them soldiers matching each of the tanks color scheme and flag on their shoulder's patch, they carried their guns in their hands while taking to marching forward towards the front lines.
Far behind them just behind the large building in which the two siblings and the tens of thousands of people that were inside seeking shelter from the chaos outside.
Their in the open space in the middle of the city, their behind the tents that had been erected to keep supplies and important men and injured soldiers from the falling dust and ashes that came falling down from the skies after that bomb had been drop.
Four Generals and a few Commanding Officers, stood around a large table contain a large map of the entire city, stress and the look of great concern could be see plain as day on their faces as they spoke to one another on the urgency on what to do in order to hold their last remaining territory on the city that to their knowledge.
Might as well be the last standing city for humanity as all other nations and cities even the small towns across the worlds had been overwhelm and destroyed at the hands of those demons.
They have thought on many things in order to stop this war or how to push t he demons back to where ever they came from, but they had seen with their own eyes that no matter how much firepower they had, for one hundred demons they killed, five hundred more demons would replace them as they continue to crawl out from the cracks of the surface and out from the very thin air as if they were given life from the very darkness that they came crawling out of.
And just moments ago they had resorted to using one of seven nuclear bombs to keep that approaching horde of demons from overwhelming their combine forces at the front lines on the outer perimeter of the city.
Using one right now was a dangerous decision considering the powerful after shock that was felt after the bomb exploded several miles away, even now the air that was once cool had gotten a bit warmer from the explosive nuke that exploded more than a few miles away.
"At this point we might as well just use a nuke every 10 to 15 minutes once those demons start gathering their numbers in another wave like that. Ammo is already down at the barrel and all of our tanks are running on their last bit of reserve ammo we could preserve until now. Not to mention that our pilots are running on what fuel we could spare to our bombers, some of those pilots have even suggested to using their own planes as a weapon if they had too".
"They are desperate to end this hell, but if I were to pick from either getting devour by those things or take my own life. I rather take my own life while putting it to use, at this rate it's just a matter of prolonging our death". Two men dressed in military uniforms from different nations said as they and five other men in uniform talked while being surrounded by 20 soldiers keeping a close eye on the perimeter.
"That's our first bomb, we only have two more remaining in the air ready to drop, the first one already did damage to the city and if we drop another then we risk the chances of leaking radioactive poison more potent enough to kill us in the days to come, not to mention that it might as well just kill us if the buildings can't hold out more than they can".
"Might as well use it on ourselves, we already lost contact with every other station around the world. Everyone in the world is as good as dead and it might just be a matter of time we all are as well".
"We have fucking people in that building depending on us, men and woman with kids and infants who were born just days ago. I am ok with taking the life of people who had lived long enough to know what it means to live but to take the lives of children who have yet to even say a fucking word to their parents isn't ok with me. I lost my own god damn family to those things and I am not about to be the one to give the order to kill the very people we swore and oath to protect because we choose the easy way alright. We have to at least try and figure out something".
A woman with short grey hair and dark eyes said as she slammed her fist onto the table, the other men went silent as they couldn't find a proper response to her harsh words.
"Things are bad yes and our chances of surviving this invasion are close to zero but it's still not completely out of our reach", the old woman looked down at the palm of her hand to see the golden necklace with a red gem in the middle.
While it might just seem like a piece of jewelry to everyone, this was but a gift from someone she had meet long ago in her youth. The man she had meet long ago who's face was nothing more than a faded memory at this point once told her that if she ever face such a problem so big and so opposing to where their efforts seem tragic at most and when she or anyone else no longer had the will to fight a battle that seem impossible to over come no matter what.
Then she would crush the gem within the necklace and he would come to their rescue, but this was something that happen long ago. To anyone this might just be words meant to be a playful remark, a joke or some rambling words from a drunken men who just handed it to her before fading away into the crowd.
But their had been times when at moments of silence or in moments where she felt into deep pits of despairs through her years when she doubted herself she would hear words of encouragements in moments like this, and right now the words she was hearing were.
"shatter it, shatter it"
Like a faint whisper words that came from deep within the corners of her head she heard the same phrase over and over beckoning her to do as it told her.
Two things could happen she thought, either she breaks it hear and now and nothing occurs which would result in the others looking down on her thinking she was losing her mind.
Or if the promise that was made long ago comes true and the same men from 60 years ago comes to fulfill his promise and arrives to their world to save them from this nightmare.
But at this moment, they were all out of options now. Doing this might as well be worth the try.
"Gentlemen... I think it's time I called for a friend, perhaps this would be the time we seek help from someone outside of this realm to combat an evil that rightfully so doesn't belong within our own world, we shall fight this war with an even bigger overwhelming force"
Tossing the necklace to the floor, she raised her right foot up before smashing the gem with the heel of her shoe.
Before any of the men could ask what she was doing, from the shatter gem a puff of black smoke erupted outwards from the gem before the cloud of smoke begun to collect itself before heading towards the open area in which debris of fallen concrete chunks and broken pieces of metal begun to pile up to form a structure.
In no less than 30 seconds they watch as the materials along with the black smoke ended up constructing a large round gate before the black smoke went towards the middle before it begun to swirl in a circle before a glow of white light appear from the middle as it expanded inside the makeshift gate.
Soldiers all around took aim at the gate not knowing what it was that would come out from the other side, they already had a pretty bad experience with demons coming out of black gates and now they didn't need anymore coming out from this one.
"Madam Kayle what are you doing!, are you planning on bringing more of those damn things closer to us?", one of the generals said as he felt angry at the sight that was playing out before them. The black smoke that emerged from under her foot was almost the same as the mist that surrounded the demons.
"Bringing the help we need General, we obviously can't fight this war on our own at least not with the way we are. Long ago back when I was still in my youth in my time as new recruit, their came a night in which a man who's name and face have all but faded away from my memories however. His words were something that I would never forgot, he handed me this necklace with a crimson gem within the middle of the night and instructed me that if their ever came a point in my life that we ever faced such a situation as this. That I should crush the gem and with it he would come to assist us in our efforts to combat this evil"
With the gate complete, the glow of light dissipated before revealing an opening to a different world.
They could see what looked like a forest all around with a dirt path that lead into the inside. The skies above were blue and they could hear the sounds of birds chirping and singing within the tree tops.
But what stood out more was the sight of a man dressed in black walking out from the gate. Wearing all black jeans, black shoes and a black trench coat. The man looked to be in his twenties given his young but mature appearance, his black hair fixed back and his eyes that looked sharp and a bit overwhelming as if his very gaze could peer deep into your very soul.
The man turn his gaze to the one who called for him, the woman couldn't help but smile in joy at seeing the man. Her faint memories of the men she meet long ago was slowly coming to piece as she begun to recall those signature eyes of his.
The man gave a small smile before speaking to her, "It's been a long time, last I recall you just finish graduating from the Academy and now look at you now, you did just fine on your own it seems, alright so let's see what we are dealing with".
Turing to look in the direction in which the nuke had been dropped, he watch as the airplanes and military tanks made way to the front lines to help the already thin line of defense they had against the demonic forces.
Taking a leap upwards, a gust of wind was felt as he flew up into the sky above as his dark figure turn to be nothing more than spec of dust as he reach such heights to get a better view of the terrain.
Looking down on the land around him, he could see with his own eyes the terrible state that the world was in. And to his not oh surprise look on his face, he knew very well what those demonic creatures were in the far distance that seem to cover the land mass in rot and decaying black matter as more of those demonic beings came crawling out of the black mass.
"She called me far to late, their is nothing I can do now to stop the contamination from the Void. The only thing I can do now is slow the Mimics down and let them escape inside the Gate, after that I'll just nuke this entire world to stop the Void from growing any bigger as it is"
Seeing that their wasn't anything he couldn't do anymore as he was called far to late to provided assistance, the only thing he could do was to allow the people in this world a place of refuge inside their world thru the gate.
The Void had found a way of planting a seed within this world some time ago, and considering just how bad it was that the entire world was being tainted by darkness and everything in sight looked to be rotting away.
This planet was as good as dead.
Coming back down he landed rather quick as he appear in an instance as if he was standing in place. He turn back to the woman who summon him and the other men in uniform before giving them the bad and good news.
"Alright well I got bad news and good news, bad news is that their isn't much I can do now to save your world from falling into a deeper state of contagion now that that Void has spread out this much, the infection has spread far to wide and to quick for me to cleanse it. The good news however is that you guys won't have to die here, you see that Gate right here".
The man said as he pointed to his right as he gesture to the open Gate with the forest behind it and dirt path that lead inside.
"I can see that you guys have your people inside that building right there and in some of the other buildings, if you have other people in hiding that are located anywhere underneath. I need your help to start leading them inside the Gate so that they can escape first, Generals I need your men to hold out for a little bit longer, call your pilots to land now so that they can escape in time before it's to late. We need to hurry as well that nuke you just set off help buy you some time but you also pissed off the swarm and I can see a whole horde of them coming this way, we have 40 minutes before they get here so we need to move now".
While the Generals were conflicted on listening to the men that came from the Gate in which General Kayle had brought forth with her necklace. The sound of them escaping with their people was promising but at the same time they weren't sure they could follow orders from a stranger who came from such a different world compare to theirs.
But Kayle who turn to look at her fellow Generals looked displease that they were taking their time to decided if they wanted his help or not.
"Encase you men haven't notice we are running out of time, we need to get our people inside now while we still have the time. You four head inside that building and let the others be inform to start leading the people inside that we have a means of escaping this place. Once you are done with that I need two of you to head into the metro system and start leading the people underneath to come on out so that they escape as well, you two will head out into the front lines and inform the other soldiers to hold out for a little longer until we have everyone inside. But stay there for a little longer until we signal the flare to retreat so that you and the rest of our soldiers have time retreat and escape as well, NOW MOVE IT".
The men she shouted orders at did as they were told with new found motivating as before they were all but clinging to nothing but despair thinking that they would be dead soon enough, but upon seeing the sight of the Gate and the view of a different world that was their escape into a new world away from this hellish nightmare that they were in.
They felt a great deal of motivation in them now as they saluted their General before dropping their weapons on the ground before making a mad dash to their targets to carry out their orders.
"That goes for the same for you all, make yourself useful and help save everyone that we can reach now", she turn to give orders to the other men that weren't under her command, regardless of who they were they did as she was told as they wanted to get out of this place as soon as possible, they knew that they couldn't fight in this impossible war anymore and so with the chance to escape this nightmare.
They wasted no time in doing the same as the four other soldiers as they dropped their weapons before heading off to where people were seeking shelter from this war.
Minutes passed as soon enough they had people in a large line heading towards the Gate with soldiers telling them to hurry and be careful to not push people out of the way or force their way in.
The look of relief and happiness expressed on the faces of the people as they walked thru the Gate and saw a different world that lead into a beautiful open green forest all around fill them with joy knowing that had escaped a terrible fate.
Parents held their children with tears rolling down their face knowing that they could spare their children such a horrible fate at the hands of those monsters that came from the Void, but their were a few others that expressed a bittersweet smile or a sad one.
They would walked forward only to turn back and take a glimpse of the world they grew up in knowing that this would be the very last time that they would see their home world.
The Generals watch from the sides as they waited for their people to be all within the other side of the Gate while their soldiers were slowly moving towards the gate with all the pilots who were up on the air had landed a few minutes prior and were already on the ground waiting until every last civilian were thru the gates.
Tanks as well as soldiers were already making their way behind the long line of people walking to the Gate, they keep their sights towards the opposite side in which the swarm of demons were coming from, right now they hadn't fire a shot so far due the fact that the same men that greeted them from within the portal had taken to the skies and begun firing large violet purple magical shots that decimated the swarm in large number.
From down here all you could see in the darken skies above was the storm of lighting that was raining down towards the outskirts of the city with thundering roars heard from the skies.
For the two siblings from before. they were in the middle of the line as they held their bags while walking hand in hand with their eyes fixed on the large magical Gate that lead to a different world.
While they were curious as to how such a thing was pulled off or who created such a powerful spell to give the people a way out of this hellish war must be a powerful one to be reckon with it.
Magic existed within this world but such powerful spells that had to do with teleportation or gateway spells were only ever heard in such top classified books held within the Royal Academy and perform by only high ranking mages.
Judging from the sight above, they could only guess that the person was saving them and created such a gateway was above them giving them more time to escape as they fired powerful shots that shook the ground from miles away from impact.
But they also took notice that as people went in, they saw what looked like individuals dressed in black dress uniforms with white skin, platinum blond hair and gold color eyes and pointy ears.
Both men and woman dressed in this uniform with badges on their left chests held what looked like a clipboard in their hands while they directed ahead and split them into different groups.
From what they could see, they were being split into three different groups, one for families with children another for single individuals that either had a partner or family member, and the last from what they could see where those who were injured as they walked with crutches or had bloody bandages wrapped in their limbs or head.
Once the two came thru, one of the individuals being a woman gave a quick look before writing something down before handing them both a sheet of paper and a pen.
"You two are family are you not?, if so please sign this papers and keep them with you at all times until transport arrives, they will be your new personal files and you will need them going forward when living here. For now please going Group B for the time being"
The woman said with a accent that sounded a bit mixed between military and royal tone while keeping a focus look on her face as she handed the two a sheet of paper that contain a few questions asking personal information.
Standard stuff such as Date of birth, name, age, relatives, blood type, known medical conditions and a few other lines of questions.
Looking towards where Group B was, a group of people that looked like they were either on their own, with their siblings or with friends.
"Thank you I'll do that, come on Ada let's go find a place to sit for now", walking together Ada simply nodded while holding his hand while reading the lines of texts on the form they were handed.
Walking thru the crowd of people, they found a fallen tree that provided a good place to sit as several other individuals did the same and took a seat on the large log.
Taking their time they started writing down their answers on the sheet using the pen they were given, once they were done writing everything that they could answer truthfully. The center of the sheet of paper had a small glow that outline a rectangle before forming a card with a small picture of their face with a barcode on the bottom and a few lines of numbers and their names present near the top and D.O.B in the middle.
"Wow that's cool, look Oz do I look good on this?" she picked up her card as she showed it to him, he was surprised on how this level of magic worked while looking at her card and seeing the amazing level of detail on her picture on the small hand size card.
"You look god Ada, I have to say this is rather amazing how their use of Magic works. I've only seen this level of magic back at the Royal Capital behind close doors within the Academy by the professors".
Taking a hold on his he turn the back of the smooth and hard texture card to see the symbols DRM24-C074.
Ada's had the same symbol being DRM24-C074. He wonder what it meant as it also had a black bar at the bottom end that ran the entire bottom piece of the card.
Suddenly the sound of fallen debris caught their attention, turning to where the sound came from, Ada and Oz saw that the large Gate in which they came from had collapse to the ground with boulders falling down to the ground.
And their standing where the collapse Gate previously was, there stood a man dressed in black with short black hair and sharp menacing eyes, he stepped forward as he dusted off his hands on his waist while having a few of those individuals come up to him and having a bit of his time to talk to him.
The man listen intently before talking back to the four that wore a black hat compare to the others that didn't, if he had to assume he would say that those four were the team captains of the other individuals that were still handing out the same forms to the others and answering questions that others had.
When they were the done the four captains went their sperate ways while the man turn his attention to the generals.
"Alright looks like everyone made it safe and sound, so it looks like we have over 103,743 people here in our hands, most of them families and others are on their owns and a few three hundred orphan children and eight hundred injured individuals that need medical attention. They will be the first to leave as we have trucks arriving here in just a few more moments from now".
The man who had yet to give his name to them said as he looked at the people he had managed to bring over from their now lost world.
One of the four Generals being an older men with black hair with streaks of grey hair and a short bear wearing a green and gold uniform took a step forward while clearing his throat to get his attention.
"Sir if you may, do you prey and tell us what you plan on doing now that our people have crossed over to this here world?, also I believe we should introduce ourselves and may I ask what title you might hold?".
The man before them turn to stare at him before giving the other three Generals and the few other commanding officers a long look before speaking, "If you want to know my name, it's Hikigaya Hachiman, my first name is Hachiman and last name is Hikigaya but you my refer to me a Commander Hikigaya. As for you question General Zalovar Kapech, with your people now in my world I simply plan on offering them a place to call home."
"This world is quite larger than you might think, it's at least 12 times far larger in both land mass and sea wise, the days here are 16 hours of daylight follow by 16 hours of night time, and this world holds many exotic and traditional wild life comparing to your world and many others. Also if you have notice, those who serve under me wearing those black uniforms are of a different race that came from a different world known as Elven Wanderers. And like you their world was being ravaged and destroyed by the swarm of the Void"
"They were the first race myself and my partner saved from facing extinction on their home world and offered their people a new life to begin with in our world, after them came 21 other worlds with a total of 60 plus races in total now that inhabit this world. So please don't be afraid at seeing humanoids with odd and exotic characteristics Generals, also I'll make it clear right now for it is a law without our world that we do NOT discriminate against other races, or show hate to others. Also I should remind you that you must keep this in mind that compare to them, you are the odd creatures in their eyes as much as they are to you, and not to mention that every region and those of a different races have a different culture and way of doing things and their own language but they all also took the time to learn the same language used by all other 22 regions to make life easier in terms of communication. But with that being said you and your people will be offered a place in which you can start building a town and a name for yourselves."
"And their will be a path that connects your region to the other 22 regions in this continent, as for temporary homes we have standard mobile homes in which small and large families and individuals can live in, my volunteer helpers as well as medics will provide food and medical attention to those who require it, and in the next week my people will deliver building materials and tools so that your people may start constructing a town and build the facilities that you will all required to live out your lives".
Taking a break from talking he looked towards Group C in which families with children were present being offered small bags of food and bottles of water to have for themselves.
"As for the young ones and those who might be interested, we do have a schools and universities in our capital that will educate them on the standard studies that all would require to better grow their education level and a few advance class for those that wish to have a career in different professions. But let it be known that the capital is a rather large city in which compare to the 22 other regions were those from the same world live in, the capital city is where you will meet all 60 other races living freely among others behind the large white walls that make the capital. Within a year after your people have settle down and built your town, those who wish to find a job or attend school will be offered the chance to be enroll within a few of the capital's schools".
The Generals as well as their commanding officers were quite surprise by the given information that Hachiman was giving them, it honestly sounded quite amazing and wonderful to hear that he was offering them all so much so that they could start a new life in his world.
But they were also interested in wondering just what the other 22 regions looked like and what one of the sixty plus races looked like, they understood now that they were quite late in joining this world from the sounds of it. If the capital was as big as he was making it and giving the details on how the capital had all kinds of mix races living together in peace really did impressed them.
"Now as for you Generals, and your commanding officers. I'll let it be known that as of right now your titles won't mean anything to you in this world, I understand that you spend years earning that title with service to your country but you most understand just as clear as day that this isn't your country or the world in which you name and title carry any power. To the people in this world you are all but late comers with no knowledge of the laws and customs that have been in place for the past 300 years since we establish this large kingdom. But I will also let it be known that you have the choice to live out your days in peace now that their isn't any wars to be fought or armies to lead under your command, we don't have wars here and we certainty don't plan on fighting against other regions for even they are all under one flag and hear by the same laws present onto by the other regions."
"But I will say that each Region has it's own Mayor that runs that Region, and that appointed Mayor will be someone from our capital that already knows the laws, however they will required your assistances Generals for he will required your help to better understand your people so that he can assist you and the people to the best of his capabilities. As for local law reinforcements to uphold the law, you can have your commanding officers or a few of your own soldiers if they wish too, to take up the role as an officer to help look after your people with a chief officer being from the capital as well".
While Hachiman meant to be clear and transparent with his words, the mention that their titles didn't mean anything and that any power they had over commanding their soldiers or having a word or say in how this new town of their own people wouldn't be done by them, a part of them understood that they were in a different world that clearly had been establish long ago and had their laws already in place.
But for two of the Generals who held a lot of pride on their titles, they didn't felt justified to be told that they wouldn't be capable of carrying over their title and keep it as it was.
"You must be mad to think that we would give up our titles so easily as so, I have served my nation for over 50 years and I still have much life within me to continue serving my own people". The man with dark hair and a black beard said with a slight arrogant tone, the other man nodded as he was on the same page as him while the female General and the other General understood their positions in this worlds and choose to do as Hachiman said.
However Hachiman didn't even as much as flinch or react to his words as he keep his passive and tired look on his face before speaking, "And you will still be there to help your people in the year that comes with building the town that you all will call home, and like I said you won't have an army to lead here in this world, the only army that exist in this world is located in the Capital and if you ask why we have an army, it's not to fight anyone within our world but those that would try to force their way into our world and when we require our own forces to help other worlds in dire need of our men and woman that stand shoulder to shoulder with other races from the other Regions to combat an even greater evil much like that of the Void that destroyed your world".
Hachiman took a step forward to the man who took a step back seeing as how opposing he seem to be with his stare and overwhelming presence that he asserted.
"Your people are safe here in my world, you should be focus on living a new life here instead of trying to hold onto the past because your world is now gone, and I am sorry that I wasn't there soon enough to help prevent that complete downfall of your world but know this that their are trillions of different worlds that exist beyond ours in the infinite of numbers that we assist and help. I can't be everywhere, anywhere all at the same time, you are no longer a General in this world Alec Jansen, so either take the opportunity to live in peace or you can have my partner but some sense to you. And trust me when I say this, between she and I, I am the much calmer person compare to her. She would break every single bone in your body, heal you back to health before breaking you again and repeating the process enough times until she has you on your knees begging you for her forgiveness".
This seem to help keep the man silent as he had sweat visibly forming on his brows after being intimated by the man in front of him.
"As for you Kayle Heather, you who summon me using the pendent that I have given you long ago. The one who will be the Mayor of your new town and home will require an Assistant who knows the people well, I shall have you be appointed as such as you were the one who after all those years, you held faith in that gift I gave you long ago. You would be surprise to know that you were one of fifty others that I handed a different gift with the same message, all others tossed my gift aside thinking it had no value, others lost it or died from health related issues or in the fields of combat, and as a reward I think you should earn a second chance in living out your youth with a future in mind instead of worry about troubles that no longer have any concerns".
With that being said, Hachiman placed his hand on her shoulder in which a rush of white energy engulfed her body with a soft glow that nobody besides him and the Ex-Generals and Ex-Officers saw before they saw the once elder woman turn younger by the second.
Her hair remain the same color but with a shine to it, the wrinkles that were once present on her face had all but vanished and she looked move lively than before. Now she looked to be in her late twenties, and while she didn't understand what just happen, one of her officers who was shocked at the whole process reached into his pocket to pull out a small mirror that he had in his pockets before handing it to her.
"Madam Kayle look!, this is a miracle I say you look wonderful!", the woman in her late thirties said as she let her General see her reflection.
"...t-this is me?, I-I can't say what just happen but... t-thank you Mr. Hikigaya, this... this is far more than what I could have ever even asked for. I am forever in debt to you good sir", with a wide smile the woman gave him a quick bow to the man who had perform such a miracle on her that it might as well be playing God.
But truth to the matter this spell her had perform was something only possible due to his large pool of magic he had and his vast knowledge when it came to magic, and all he really did was repair her body to such an extent that she now looked younger than what she really looked.
He didn't turn back time for her, simply repairing her body so such an extent that she looked younger and healthier than before.
"Ok let's get things going shall we, I have a few things to catch up with my Partner so I'll let my Team Captains carry things out for me and if you have any questions please ask them. I'll be back by next week to see how things are going, looks like the first line of trucks have arrived now".
Turing to their left they saw the line of large military size trucks that had enough space to fit up to 50 people in the back with room for luggage.
"Alright everyone listen up, we will have you board the trucks to head into the town you will be living and building for the next few years to come, right now we have simple mobile homes for you all to live temporarily until you get the chance to have your home built. Right now we will be boarding the injured and sick so that they can be treated first, after that we we will have Group C board the next few trucks and lastly it will be those of Group B understood, this four will the team captains that will be handling your stay in this new world, if you have any questions please feel free to ask them. Also I must mention this but those forms you all filed out are your citizenship papers and that makes you all official residents to my kingdom as new residents, also for that card that appear with you shortly after completing the form. Please keep it with you at all times, for that will be important for you in the future to help you with finding a job, moving, enrolling into a school or university, purchasing items once you have all earn income and much more, the form you have will be taken by my staff after you have settle into your mobile homes so that they can better understand you and your needs if you have any medical conditions, with that being said... welcome to the world known as Elysium and the Kingdom of Chiba... I hope you enjoy your new stay at our world"
"So this must be it, our new home", Oz said as he and his sister Ada stepped inside their new house using the key that was their card after swiping it on the lock which unlocked it and allowed them into their new temporary home as it was mention before.
In due time they would be allowed to move into a larger or smaller home of their choosing once they could built their home in a piece of property that best fitted them.
The mobile home that looked like a white rectangle building with white panels and a black roof was quite spacious to say the least, it had a large living room with a kitchen on the left, a hallway to the left with a restroom on the right, on the hallway their was a room to wash their clothing and do laundry with a storage room and large bedroom.
Having one bedroom seem alright with them considering they had lived together for the past 6 years together after they moved into the capital and they were quite close and saw no issues sharing one large room. Also it was quite clear that they had to squeeze people in this mobile homes as best as they could, they were quite lucky they got one of this size for themselves as others who came alone had a home a bit smaller than this while those with kids had a mobile home a bit bigger to fit their family.
But seeing the space they had inside their new home, Oz felt quite happy with what they had, especially with how happy his sister seem to be at looking at the rooms around the house and admiring some of the decoration they had and appliance they had in the kitchen and cooking materials as well as the fridge that already had food stored inside and in the pantry.
"It's already filled to the brim Oz!, look they even have some fresh eggs to make breakfast for tomorrow. Say what do you think about making something to eat now I am starving", her smile couldn't get any brighter as she continue to look at all the items of food that had been stored inside the fridge.
But besides the fridge he notice that their was a rather large thick cook book, reaching for it open the first page and the second page to see that it had a rather long list of dishes that they could make using the ingredients that they had in the fridge and in panty and cabinets over head.
"Look Ada there are some recipes inside here, say why don't we make some funnel cake and some sweat rolls. I know you enjoy those, so what do you say?".
"I am all down for it, let me wash my hands real quick then we can get started"
He couldn't help but smile seeing her excited face and gleam of light that seem to sparkled from her eyes as she was all but excited to get started in preparing the tools and ingredients that they would require to make the two baked goods.
While she did that, Oz couldn't help but be deep in his thoughts as he looked around the room and the front window of their new home.
It felt all to much like a dream to him, for the past weeks both him and his sister were out running for their lives and struggling to survive as they travel across the lands to reach the city in which they were seeking the last bit of refuge until suddenly they were being told that their was a way out of that hell only for them to travel thru a magical gate that transport them into a new found world and now here they were in their new home about to make food with a smile on their face as if everything that just happen to the two of them almost didn't existed.
He wasn't complaining but it sure did take a bit of processing in order for him to come into terms with their new state of living.
But if he knew that as of right now, he was just happy and content that his sister was safe and smiling like their was no tomorrow as she regain that warmth around her and the all but beautiful smile he was accustom to seeing each day back in the Royal Capital.
Hours have passed now, after making their deserts and enjoying it at to a high extent, the two took turns to shower and get change in a set of new clean clothes that had been already stored away in their shared closet.
It was already approaching sun down and while he wasn't as tired as Ada, who found herself sleeping by his side wit her resting her head on his legs covered with a blanket, he sat in silence as he stared out into the front window of their home and he looked out into the horizon where the sun could be seen resting just at the horizon of the valley.
He was happy overall with the state of their situation and now he sat in place at peace with himself as he begun to wonder on what would come next.
When they were finish with their meals, and her taking a shower first. He found a rather large book that contain information of the world and the Kingdom's Capital that contain both words and pictures of the 22 other Regions and the large massive Capital that he saw on the books with picture showing it's truly large scale that would but their Royal Capital to shame at just how small it looked like. If the Capital was as massive as it was shown on the pictures, then the Royal Capital in their world might as well be the size of a block.
Their he saw the images of the other races that lived within the capital and in the Regions, some looked like fairies, others like elves like before, mermaids, angels with large wings, harpies, beast man with animal like characteristics, others with four arms and insect like characteristics like those of moths and others who looked like dwarfs from folktales and others had either green, a light blue or red skin tone with eyes from all colors in the rainbow.
And many much more, he had continue to read page after page learning as much as he could about this new world and the many wonderful things it had to offer them.
But what really caught his attention was the Academy for Aeronautical Engineering and Pilot Academy. Oz always had a fascination for planes and flight but couldn't attend because he required a lot of money to attend such a school back in their world.
But from what he could read it was said that the Academy was open to allowing those who were interested in the subject and wanted to pursuit a career were all but welcome to join classes beginning every first quarter of the year.
Perhaps this might be the chance in which he could pursuit his dream in flight, but while it might have to wait 5 years or a bit more for it to come. He could use the time to learn as much as he could so that it would make his future in attending the Academy a bit more easier instead of going in blindly.
Plus he needed to look after his sister for the next few years as they still had a lot of work to do before they could go out chasing dreams.
So for now, putting the book down on the coffee table, turning off the table lamp and letting the dim light of the sun leak into the room of their house, he closed his eyes as to finally put his tired body to rest.
So this makes chapter 2, ok so this chapter had to do a bit with showing a small piece on what Hachiman and Minami do, here we learn that the two spend the weekends to travel to a different world in which they founded a long time ago, and we see Hachiman saving people from their doom planet that had been plague by the Void that infects and consumes worlds.
And we get to see that this people weren't the first to come thru a Gateway into the planet known as Elysium, a planet that Hachiman and Minami found years prior before the first world they save and were brought here with the first world and race to live in this world known as the Elven Wanderers.
Their is still much to learn about Minami's and Hachiman's main story on how they got here in which will be explored in future chapters, but also I wanted to introduce you guys to two new characters named Oz Vessalius and Ada Vessalius.
For now they are introduce in this chapter and you probably won't hear from them until a few more chapters but just know that they will play role in the future next to Hachiman and Minami and a few new ones.
Right now I took a simple path into showing you a fraction on what the two do as their far much that goes on in the life of Hachiman and Minami without giving out to much, next chapter will be a bit more on Hachiman and Minami in this world before returning back to Japan in which the story will be focus back on Hachiman and maybe just maybe Minami being introduced to the 8 girls and her daughter Akane.
And you will also understand what makes their work rather dangerous compare to this chapter, and some of the hardships they sometimes have to face alone or together as the threat of the Void corrupting worlds isn't the only danger that exists out there.
As for all the reviews, follows and favorites I got last week, i just want to show my gratitude to those who did and i am happy to see that you guys enjoyed it.
I also was aiming to upload the second chapter in less than 6 days after the first one, but the first two rough drafts that I had seem a bit messy or out of place and felt like they were rushed with to much information and I didn't like how it it would tie in with the story and I also had so many ideas on how to continue the story and how it would work out so it took me a bit longer to get the next chapter out for you guys.
I was happy how this one turn out and it gave me a good plan on what the future chapters would be like and keep a steady pace on the story instead of just rushing out chapters that feel like i was up late a night trying to submit an essay that was due last night LOL.
So with that being said I'll see you guys soon in the next chapter, peace.
