"Please!" Deidara begged in a whiny tone, "Why can't you just for once... come over for a sleepover!" He yelled, stomping his foot and fists shaking in frustration.

Sasori shook his head as he, yet again, vehemently refused his friend's bratty behavior, "Never."

"Hmmm!" Deidara whined further, "But I just got Smash Fighting Ultimate!" He then tried, hoping to entice his long-time friend.

A fellow classmate and new friend of this school year of Deidara's, Hidan, had his ears perked as he heard this fascinating bit of information. Actually, he had been hearing the blond whine and groan for a while now about having Sasori spend the night for a sleepover. If Deidara were to ask Hidan...

"That's so cool! I would sleep over in an instant!"

Deidara looked up at a cross Sasori and then back to Hidan, "I guess that'd be okay... but only if Sasori's still not coming...?"

Sasori scoffed loudly and turned his nose up higher than ever, "There is no way I am ever going to one of your stupid little baby slumber parties!"

Before Deidara could even get a word in to even persuade Sasori, Hidan shoved the small redhead aside and wrapped his arm around Deidara's shoulder, "Guess that means I'm in blondie! I'll fill in that seat!"

Deidara sighed in defeat, "Yeah I guess so... let's have our moms talk after school, un."

Sasori didn't know what to think when it hit him. It as he could hardly consider the thing a fellow boy and classmate. Hidan was some new strange and absolutely horrible creature that had entered his social circle. So it was him, he was hit by Hidan; and hard.

Having just come running to school, having just spent the weekend at Deidara', he was just too excited to let everyone know how much fun he had and that he had more fun than everyone else.
"The game was so much fun! And- and!" Hidan took a breath. "Deidara's mom letted us eat so many snacks and drink as much pop as we wanted!" He gushed, somehow still reeling in on his sugar high from the night. "Deidara has the best sleepovers ever!"

Sasori rolled his eyes. Yeah... He had heard that before many times. For a while now, ever since his eighth birthday when his mother would let him invite kids for sleepovers; classmates would come back talking about how fun Deidara's sleepovers were. Deidara came from a well-off family; his mother being lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom now, a former catalog model who was married to a wealthy lawyer. That meant Deidara got spoiled big time. Late curfew, great snacks, the latest toys; Deidara had it all. The only rival to what he had was Itachi Uchiha. Son to a woman who ran her own successful business and son to a police chief. In fact, everyone in that family had high-paying jobs. It was like success ran through their blood.

And that for some reason ticked Deidara off.

However, what Itachi didn't have though, and it really was the cherry on top, was that Deidara in general was a fun guy. Frankly, that was one of the few reasons Sasori was even friends with the boy. Deidara was fun. Irritating, but just a lot of fun. Maybe one day he would grow out of Deidara's antics, but right now at seven years old, Deidara was a hoot.

Sasori loved that he could have a deep meaningful talk with Deidara, and he would just listen. Most people liked to talk over him. However not Deidara. He would sit there and hear him out, devour each word and taste it. Only after consuming would then Deidara vomit out his stupid views. Well... more often than not they weren't that stupid. Just when it came to ideal beauty and true art. He could just imagine it though. Being up all night talking to Deidara, discussing things and just being together. Looking out at the stars- discussing their beauty and how they could reflect art. Not to mention Sasori did really like snacks and some of Deidara's lame jokes. That and he too really wanted to play Smash Fighting Ultimate, something he could never afford nor be allowed to own as his granny deemed everything to be 'too violent'.

Now he had been to Deidara's house many times. Like Hidan and every other child had ever said, it was great! However, there was just no way he could sleep at Deidara's house...and neither could Deidara sleep at his house. Never!

"I brought some games over! Which one you wanna play, hm?"

Sasori looked over the assortment of games in Deidara's bag. There shining like a beautiful sunset was Smash Fighting Ultimate tauntingly. It was just too bad that granny would look at the television, gasp in horror, and as she would send Deidara home, she would simultaneously ground Sasori for even approving of the game.

Sports games it is...

With the tennis game starting up, the phone rang sending Chiyo to the phone dock, not that either of the boys was interested in what was going on.
"Oh dear Sasori, what to do..." Chiyo hovered anxiously as she finished up the phone call, "I need to see the specialist a town over and I need someone to watch you overnight. Oh dear... and this is such a difficult appointment to make!"

"Huh? What about-"

"Your cousins can't take you in." She finished for him, knowing what he was going to say. "It would appear my brother has decided to take his family on a little vacation that weekend."

Deidara dropped his game controller and turned to the old woman wide-eyed, "Sasori could stay at my house! We can have a sleepover!"

Sasori looked over, horrified.

"Wonderful idea!" Chiyo said, clasping her hands together in delight. "Your parents won't mind?"

"Nuh-huh! I've been trying to have Sasori over for a sleepover party forever!"

"Then this is just the right time." She said with a warm smile, so happy her grandson had such a dear friend.

"I'll take good care of him!" Deidara placed his hand over his heart, "I promise!"

Sasori on the other hand began to sweat, 'Oh no.'

The fears Sasori had were quickly forgotten as he quickly got swept up in the fun of the evening. Deidara's father grilled them burgers, ate chips, and drank so much soda pop. They played on Deidara's trampoline, ate candy, and finally played Ultimate Smash Fighting for hours. The evening was so much fun, at times Sasori's little face would hurt from smiling as all his life's troubles seemed to vanish. At least, that is until it was time to wind down with their sketchbooks in bed for some late-night doodles. If Deidara having cooler pajamas than him wasn't bad enough...

"Wait..." Sasori stared horrified as Deidara jumped onto his bed. He looked around a moment before looking back at his friend crawling under the covers and drawing right away, "We... share a bed?"

Deidara rolled his eyes and sighed, "Sasori, please! I have a queen-sized bed. It's big enough to fit like... ten of yous and then plus me, hm!"

Sasori frowned as he didn't quite like being used as a form of measurement. Looking at the bed though, where was the lie? It could fit 10 of him and one Deidara. Sitting on the bed opposite of Deidara, Sasori drew up the bed and did some rough estimates. The bed was a lot bigger than his own. Probably more than twice the size! Writing down other ideas in his book, he looked at the floor. Wooden floor. He definitely did not want to sleep on that, and saying he would sleep on the couch downstairs was weird! Especially since Deidara's parents had one of those expensive couches that looked good but didn't feel good.

Deidara's mother poked her head through the door, "It's time to go to sleep now boys."

"Yes, mom!"

Sasori swallowed hard as he had run out of time. Guess there was only one hopeful option left!

As Deidara lowered the lights, Sasori turned his back, setting an alarm on his watch in hopes of waking himself up before Deidara did.

"What was that?"

"What was what."

"That beep, hm?"

"What beep?"

Deidara stared at Sasori who was staring over his shoulder all huddled together, "Uh, nothin'." Pulling his blankets up, Deidara sighed heavily, "Thanks for finally comin' over. I had a lot of fun!"

"Hmph... well yes," Sasori mumbled bitterly, even though he really did have a lot of fun. "So far has been...so good. You haven't messed up yet."

"Haha! Whatever! Night night Sasori."

"Goodnight..." Sasori grumbled, clinging to the edge of the bed, his back turned to Deidara.

Unfortunately for Sasori, Deidara still woke up first. Woke up warmer than ever. Smacking his lips, Deidara realized quickly he couldn't roll over onto his back. Carefully looking over, he spotted Sasori who had managed to pin HIM to the edge of the bed, face pressed against his back.

Deidara smiled. It was so funny to him that Sasori had worked so hard to keep his distance, yet still managed to be a cuddle bug in the end. Was this what he was so worried about? Being snuggly? Bah! No big deal. However... Deidara did want to change positions a bit and roll over. Pulling away from Sasori's clingy grasp, he gasped quietly, catching himself from being too loud. He was dumbstruck as he saw something that he probably wasn't supposed to see.
"He sucks his thumb..." Deidara marveled, staring at the peaceful little boy, all curled up with his thumb in his mouth and tummy showing.

Was this what Sasori was so paranoid about? Cuddling? Maybe. The thumb sucking? Yeah, he could see that being embarrassing to some. However what was so wrong with thumb sucking? Every kid did something weird. When Deidara was younger, he ate dirt on a few occasions!

Deidara was a little jealous. With those long dark curly lashes, Sasori's weird quirks that worried him so much were just so... so...
'He's so cute!' He screamed internally, placing an arm around his friend, snuggling back up to him in reciprocation.

It didn't last long however as he heard Sasori's alarm promptly go off. Quickly so as not to be caught, Deidara flopped down with his eye closed, pretending to be asleep. He couldn't have Sasori doesn't catch him being some sort of creep who watches people sleep!

Listening carefully to what his friend was up to as he faked his sleep, Deidara heard Sasori make a sigh in relief and then a scowl. He could even hear Sasori rub his hand against his clothes in disgust as he pulled away carefully out from his clinging grasp. Was this all really what he was so worried about that he refused to do sleepovers? It was nothing! Still, it would be best not to tease Sasori for it. Who knows- he may never sleepover again!

While Deidara faked it, Sasori smiled in victory and pumped a small fist as his secret wasn't outed. He would just die if people knew he sucked his thumb at nine years old. And it's not like he didn't try to stop it. He really did! Somehow that thumb just ended up in there and he couldn't stop!

If he could keep the thing up though, his secret wouldn't come out. Perhaps one day he would stop sucking his thumb. But now wasn't it.

Rolling over so his back was facing Deidara again, Sasori sighed in relief. Now he just had to wait a little while for Deidara to wake up and he'd be golden.

However, on the other side of the bed, Deidara smiled wide, nose scrunching as he now definitely knew Sasori's secret and reason to never go to a sleepover. What a cute secret to have... And what a secret to use as blackmail against the boy when they got older! Now they were going to be best friends forever. If Sasori liked it or not!
