The next week saw her alone in the Tower for the first time since her arrival. The team had gotten called on a mission. She was given a timeline of about a week give or take a few days. It was strange to say the least.
A sigh escaped her lips as she turned off her alarm that was blaring. Running a hand over her face as she rose from the bed, she blearily made her way to her bathroom. After brushing her hair out and her teeth, she grabbed her glasses from the nightstand and went out of her room.
The only person that she knew that was still in the tower was Pepper, but she was busy the next few days with work things. Lia would never understand how she did all that she did.
Pepper was a badass.
Lia brewed a pot of coffee and grabbed a pop tart from the pantry.
What would she do with all this time alone?
She could always shop online, add more things to her collection and spruce up her , she could do that. And some homework. With a cup of coffee in hand, she sat at the table after grabbing her laptop, firing it up.
A sigh escaped her lips.
After getting more plants for the living area and more books, she turned her focus to homework. The back of her mind, the last few days, she had been thinking about changing her major. She did change it back in her old world about four times before she settled on journalism.
A sip of coffee.
Perhaps she was trying to retain her old self from her old world.
No, no more of that.
It was time to be someone new. It was time to be the person that she was brought here to be. Time to let go of her past, she knew that she wouldn't be able to go back to her old world, there was no possible way.
Time to embrace who she would be.
First step?
Changing her major to astrogeology.
A day later found her classes changed and major officially changed.
Rain beat down on the window as she submitted her last assignment due for that week. It was only thursday, two days before the rest got home. She hadn't had any contact with them and she wouldn't lie when she said she was anxious about them.
The night was cold as she placed all of her things away, pulling her glasses back on. It was only around ten or so, but she found it hard to keep her eyes open any longer.
The door slammed open.
At least that's what it seemed like.
Her hand reached for the knife she started keeping on her.
"JARVIS who's there- '' She was caught off as she turned the corner, seeing the team. Albeit, they looked tired but seemed to be okay.
"You're back early." She spoke as she folded her knife up and placed it back into her pocket.
"Good to see you too, kid." Tony said as he pulled her into a quick hug.
"Everyone's okay, nothing major. Threat was taken care of easily." Steve told her as he made his way past her to go to his room.
She was glad to see them again, and could finally stop being anxious about it. Clint and Nat reappeared, changed into more comfortable clothes.
"Something tells me that you can't tell me about the mission? SHIELD top secret?" She joked with a laugh. God, what she would give if she could tell them that SHIELD was practically hijacked by HYDRA.
But she couldn't. Though she could try to find more about where Bucky was.
"Lips sealed," Clint spoke as he said his good night to Lia and Nat.
"I, uh missed you while you were gone." Natasha spoke softly.
"Same, it was lonely here. Pepper came back every night and we had dinner and it was cool to connect with her. But it's just not the same without you all here. Too quiet." Was her response as she looked at Nat.
"Anything interesting happen?"
"I changed my major to astrogeology."
"That's amazing! Just wait til Tony hears about that!."
A yawn escaped Lia's mouth as she hid it behind her hand.
"Imma head to bed, we all need some sleep."
"I'll see you in the morning Lia, sleep well."
