Hi! I hope you are enjoying this so far. Feel free to review and give prompts.
With all the time that had passed since they'd been to Stark tower last, Shuri thought T'challa would be over what happened last time, but nope.
"You will behave." he growled at her as they climbed the stairs to the jet. "I am only taking you because everyone wanted you out if the palace, for something about a food fight."
He scowled again, and she sheepishly grinned at him. "Hey, it was fun."
He rolled his eyes at her. "Just get in."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Peter sat with Tony on the couch, staring at him. He had told him to come to the living room.
"Peter," Tony said slowly. "Shuri and T'challa are coming again-" he was interrupted by a gasp from Peter, but before he could finish Tony cut him off. "You remember last time, don't you? That is not going to happen again, especially since May is on a "business trip" with her friends and can't deal with you if you get hurt. Got it?"
Peter nodded, silently crossing his fingers behind his back. "I won't get into trouble."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
They touched down on the familiar landing pad, Shuri careful not to jump out this time. She would make up for it later.
Tony and Peter came in, this time Tony looking stern and Peter looking as excited as ever.
"Hello." Tony said flatly. T'challa nodded back. "This time, we will be keeping a close watch on those two." Tony nodded to Peter and Shuri, and they rolled their eyes at the exact same time.
"We don't need to be watched!" Shuri said. "We are grown teenagers!" T'challa looked skeptically at them. "Your actions from last time say you do."
Peter huffed and Shuri scowled. They followed Tony and T'challa down the hall to the conference room as Tony began to explain his designs.
For 20 minutes, they sat and stared at the ground as Tony and T'challa got into a heated argument about sonic blasters around the bases. As they turned to the model, Peter caught Shuri's eye. He jerked his head towards the door, and she raised her eyebrows and smiled.
Peter slid out of his chair and started to slink along the ground, Shuri following suit. They army-crawled along the tiles and were 10 feet from the door when Tony started to turn around.
Peter and Shuri froze, their eyes wide. But Tony just pointed at something on the wall which T'challa glanced at then turned back to the table. Peter let out the breath he was holding as silently as possible.
They made it to the door which was slightly open and slipped through the crack.
Once they were in the hallway a few doors down, they started laughing in relief. "We have to hide, or they are going to find us when they notice we're gone." Peter said.
Shuri grinned. "I have a better idea."
She led him to a window. "See that drop?" she asked. Peter nodded. "Wouldn't it be awesome to rappel down it?"
His eyes widened. "That is an even better idea than skydiving! I'll get my web shooters. We can use them as ropes!" Peter said.
Shuri snickered. "We should totally scare the crap out of Mr. Stark and my brother by going past their window." Peter started to giggle too. "I my gosh, yes."
He ran to the elevator, pushing the up button over and over. "Wait here," he said as the doors closed. "I'm getting my web shooters."
When he got to his room, he frantically rummaged through his stuff, finding them under some notebooks on his desk. Putting one on his wrist, he went back down to the level Shuri was on.
"Here," he said. "Put this one on."
"Where should we start?" Shuri asked as she slid the web shooter on. Peter smirked. "At the very top of the building."
They ran up the stairway together, talking about last time as they looked down the spiral. When they got to the top, fresh air hit them like a waterfall.
"Ah," Peter sighed as the wind washed over him, tousling his hair. "This is a wonderful day for rappelling."
Shuri giggled. "Come on, let's go." They walked to the very edge of the building and looked down at the cars driving below. They looked like ants.
Peter shot a web onto the concrete roof, backing up and disappearing over the side. When Shuri looked over, he was dangling by the web/rope with his feet on the side of the building, slowly lowering himself down.
As a strong gust of wind blew through the air, Peter jumped off the side of the building, travelling in a wide arc before landing back on his feet.
"Woo hoo!" he yelled. "This is the life! Come on Shuri!" She giggled and leapt off the roof, swinging and landing beside him. They walked backwards down the side of the building, laughing, and pausing to jump when huge gusts of wind came.
There was a crowd of people gathering at the bottom, pointing, and looking up at them.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tony was trying to keep his temper under control. "We need them. We really do!" T'challa looked calmly back at him. "I do not see the convenience of having unnecessary weapons around the bases." he said.
Tony growled, pulled at his hair.
Suddenly, they heard shouting coming from outside. "What's going on?" T'challa asked. Tony shrugged. "I'll look."
He walked over to the window, opening it, and looking down. People were pointing up, and he followed their fingers. When Tony put his hand up to block the sun, he saw two figures on the side of the building, using webs to rappel down it.
"Peter!" he shrieked, and slammed the window closed, running down the hall. "What is it?" T'challa asked panicking.
"Peter and Shuri are using Peter's web shooters to rappel down the building, which is 250 stories tall!"
T'challa gasped, fear and anger swirling around in him. He and Tony ran up the stairs, Tony's ironman suit encasing him. When they burst through the trap door to the roof, Tony put his hand out.
"Wait here." he said. "I'll get them."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Peter laughed aloud, leaning his head back into the breeze. Huh? What was that? He tilted his head back farther, seeing Mr. Stark's bright red ironman suit descending towards him.
Oh no, oh no! He panicked. They weren't even close to the ground, so he couldn't jump. He had an idea. Probably a bad idea, but it was his only chance of escaping.
He started to swing, back and forth, back, and forth, picking up momentum. Mr. Stark was getting closer, closer. He swung faster, pushing his legs against the side of the building with more force.
Shuri stared at him, confused. "What are you doing?" she said. He didn't reply.
When he thought he had enough momentum, he let go at the top of the arc, flying through the air to the top of the building. He reached out, closer, closer...
His fingers had a hold of the edge for a second, but then he slipped, free falling through the air. Everyone on the ground started to scream and shout. It's okay, it's okay, he thought. I have everything under control.
Pressed the button on his web shooter, but only a thin wet line of web came out, falling to the ground. Okay, now he could panic.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!" he screamed at the top of his lungs as he fell to his death. The ground was getting closer, closer, father... wait, what? He looked up at Mr. Stark, who was holding him under his arms, flying to the roof of the building.
Everyone watching started to cheer, relieved that they weren't going to watch someone die today.
"Mr. Stark?"
Peter was met with silence.
As they got farther up, Tony grabbed Shuri and kept going. When they got to the top, T-Challa was practically on fire, he was so angry. Every time he tried to talk to Shuri, he stopped himself and pulled at his hair before trying again.
Tony left them on the roof and descended the stairs, dragging Peter behind him. He still hadn't said anything.
"Mr. Stark?" Peter tried again.
"Just- I don't want to hear another word from you." Tony said. They continued down the stairs until they reached the private floor. "Go to your room and wait for me." Tony said flatly. Peter solemnly complied.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The jet ride was silent, and very awkward. Shuri wanted to talk but couldn't. She didn't know why, she just couldn't.
T'challa was the one to break the silence. "You are a teenager, Shuri. You need to start acting like one."
She stared at the floor for a few moments, mustering the courage to speak. "I know."
"Apparently, you don't, because I just saw you deliberately disobey me, and your antics almost killed Peter. If Tony wasn't there..." he sighed. "I just don't want you to get hurt." He finished quietly.
Shuri was surprised. Was that all this was? Fear? Her anger turned to guilt.
"I'm really, really sorry. And I mean it this time." she glanced up.
T'challa was smiling sadly at her. "I know you never meant to hurt anyone." Suddenly, they were in an embrace, Shuri shaking with tears and guilt.
He pulled back and ran a hand along her face, wiping away the tears. "It's alright." he said.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Peter sat on his new mattress, a mixture of emotions swirling inside him.
He had disobeyed Mr. Stark, but did he really deserve this? He got that Mr. Stark was angry, and he was trying to calm down so he could talk to Peter, but why? Why was he so angry about something Peter thought wasn't that big of a deal?
The door opened, and he snapped out of his thoughts. Tony walked in, a stern look on his face.
"What were you thinking? You could have gotten yourself killed!" he started. "I told you, face to face, that you were no to do anything remotely similar to last time, yet you still threw my words down the drain and did something stupid again. Why?"
Peter hid his face. "I crossed my fingers behind my back. I really, really wanted to do something fun with Shuri."
Tony tried to keep his face straight, but he was having a hard time. "You and I have very different ideas of what "fun" is."
Peter glanced up and grinned at him. "Just a little adventure. I mean, you got some new "think quick" skills from that, did you not?"
Now Tony couldn't hide it anymore. He was laughing. "I know I can't keep you from doing stupid things, but at least tell me when you are going to so I can keep watch. And preferably, don't do them when we have guests."
Now they were both laughing. Peter sighed and pretended to be annoyed. "Aw man, I like doing stupid things with guests!"
Tony chuckled and gave him a side hug. "You know I love you bud, right? And nothing can ever change that.
Peter smiled at him. "I know."
