The Spectacular Liz edition
Prologue
For Peter Parker, his life currently is not the best that it could be. He had finally confessed his true feelings to Gwen, who told him she felt the same way and that for them to be together, they would have to break their current relationships. Little did they know Harry found out about their plan and became Green Goblin again. Peter later meets up with Liz, his girlfriend, to break things off with her. He felt guilty because he did have feelings for her, but his love for Gwen was more substantial, or so he thought. It would only hurt Liz if they continued to date while still loving Gwen. Later, Peter defeats Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, who dies in an explosion leading to a funeral for Harry's dad. Before Gwen broke up with him at the funeral right, Harry guilt trips her knowing what she was trying to do. Gwen decides to stay with Harry leaving Peter alone with nobody.
*During summer vacation*
"Yeah, this is totally not how I want to spend my summer vacation," Peter states as he takes off his Spider-man costume in his room. Finish with another night of patrol, he thinks back on what had transpired since the funeral.
"To think going out as Spider-man would take my mind off of Gwen and Harry still being together. Nope, it didn't help at all. At this point, I rather not reach out to Gwen because even with her still being with Harry to avoid causing him to go green again, she left me alone. Maybe this is just the sign that we are not meant to be together; it's not like she bothers reaching out to me since the funeral. Also, trying to contact Black Cat is out of the question; she's probably still upset with me after letting her father rot in jail, but who could blame her. Besides, the only way we could patch anything between us would be to reveal my identity to her, yet that did not help if it meant not freeing her father." Peter groans as he lays back in his bed.
He almost decides to reach out to Mary Jane, even at one point he wouldn't have minded asking her out, but she was on vacation, and he didn't want to bother her. Not to mention M.J. at one point told him they were just friends and later was seeing Liz's brother Mark, so there's most likely no chance with her right now.
Peter snaps out of his thoughts when he hears the doorbell ring. Since Aunt May isn't back home yet, Peter goes to the door to answer the call, not expecting to see the person behind the corner. "Liz?"
"Hey Petey, is this a bad time?" Peter's former girlfriend, Liz shyly asks, standing outside the door.
Multiple thoughts pop into Peter's head, seeing the sight of Liz to where he stumbles on his response. "Oh no, I mean, I'm available right now. Aunt May isn't home, and I was settling in, but you can come in if you like?" He invites her, which Liz accepts gracefully. Peter escorts her to his room; thankfully, it wasn't messing, so they can have some privacy if his aunt comes back.
"So is everything okay? I will admit that I'm surprise that you are over here." Peter can't help the curiosity within him rising about what Liz wants to say though he knows how things have been, and he assumes that she's here about fixing her popularity from the breakup.
"Yes and no, like nothing life-threatening though I want to talk to you personally before it's too late," Liz states, still nervous.
"Too late for what?" Peter asks, feeling more concerned.
"I know the last time we talked was when you ended things, and of course, I snapped at you as a result in front of our peers. At that moment, my initial thought was to make it seem like I was dumping you so my reputation would be intact, but right afterward, I felt horrible because, despite the flaws in our relationship, I couldn't help the feelings I still have for you. During our time away from each other, I figured you broke up with me for Gwen, and while a part of me feels I shouldn't look back, the other side wants to at least fight for us. That's why I'm here to see if there is still a chance and if not, that's okay. I will accept that, but I want you to at least know sorry for how I did you that day, if nothing else." Liz expresses her desires for Peter and now waits in anticipation allowing him to soak up her confession.
Peter's eyes go wide, for the last thing he expects is Liz to come to him wanting to resume their relationship after the hurt he put her through. Like his former girlfriend, Peter feels a part of him doesn't deserve her and keeps her at a distance, but then a vital part of her can't help but still have those feelings and want for Liz.
"Liz, first off, you don't need to apologize about anything towards me. You had all right to react the way you did, for like I told you that day, I wasn't the best boyfriend to you, and you deserve better than how I treated you. Since you were honest, it's only fair that I do the same. Yes, one of the other reasons for ending the relationship was my feelings for Gwen; well, I used to feel until she decided to stay with Harry and not communicate with me." Peter mutters the last part catching Liz off guard over that revelation.
"I'm guessing after Harry's father's death, she felt guilty and didn't want to leave him." Liz puts the remaining pieces together, receiving a nod from Peter.
"That's the belief which I understood that part at first because one would want to have someone to comfort them during that type of grieving, but it's the not having anything to do with me after a while that got to me badly. Regardless I felt like I got what I deserve from hurting you, so I been pretty much to myself most of this summer, not even hitting up M.J. As far as me and you go with what I told you, I don't see why you would still want to try again with me now." Peter says sadly, knowing it's for the best that Liz finds someone better, even if that's not what he wants deep down.
However, despite his reasons, Liz still has some fights in her as she responds, "It's because I believe the positives made it worth being with you when you take away the negatives. After our rough start with you tutoring me, we have great chemistry, and you have been there for me at times, like with my brother. I know you are going through this, so you are not thinking highly of yourself, but you are a nice guy who deserves happiness, and happiness that I want to give you. However, even if we try again, I feel like there's something you are holding back from me, and I think it's connected to the random disappearance."
Peter tenses up, knowing that his role as Spider-man plays a massive role in why his relationship with Liz didn't work out. "Liz I..."
Liz instantly grabs his hands, attempting to make one final push with tears forming in her eyes. "Petey please let me, I want to be more understanding when it comes to you, but you have to give me the keys to help."
Seeing her facial expression and hearing Liz's last declaration breaks Peter and makes him realize that he wants Liz back in his life as that special someone. However, he knows he can't hold back the crucial part of his life from her at this point. Revealing his secret might be the straw that breaks things up between the two, but at this point, Peter believes now that Liz deserves the truth, especially if it makes things better for their potential relationship.
"I need to show you something before we can go forward with us. It's going to freak you out at first; therefore, I ask that you please give me a chance to explain myself." Peter expresses preparing himself to reveal the truth.
Liz gives a worried expression but braces herself for whatever Peter has in store for her. "Okay, I'm ready."
Taking a deep breath, Peter gets up and walks over to where he hides his web shooters to put them on. He then proceeds to jump up to the ceiling, landing on top and shooting a web line to allow himself to hang upside down, leaving Liz in a state of shock. "Peter... your Spider-man?" Liz manages to ask, still trying to process what she sees right now.
"Yes. I am and have been a while now." Peter answers nervously, feeling unsure about his decision due to Liz's reaction.
"But how?" Liz questions more in disbelief, trying to fill in the blanks of this big reveal about her former boyfriend.
Peter jumps back down to her level and places a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. "Well, this is where I tell you my backstory and why I didn't tell you before." Peter begins to explain his backstory, or in this case, superhero origin about how a radioactive spider bit him and gifted him his abilities the night his uncle died, causing him to become Spider-man to why he kept this secret up to now.
"And that's my story up to this point. I can understand now if you are upset at me for keeping this from you, and I understand if you regret considering us again now that you know the truth. If possible, I ask that you please don't reveal my secret to the public for the safety of not just you but my aunt and friends if we go our separate ways." Peter states as he glances away and braces himself for Liz's decision concerning if they could patch things up or not.
After hearing Peter's explanation, Liz finally puts all the pieces together regarding her interactions with him in the past, making everything clear that she was blind to notice. "So all this time when you skipped out on dates, and I assume you were just going to take pictures for the Bugle, you were out saving lives."
Peter nods in silence to acknowledge her answer, not registering the positive from her statement.
"How can I not love you more than I do now!?" Before Peter can react at all, he's sudden pounce on by Liz, following her kissing him hard and passionate on the lips. Peter's brain finally reboots itself after freezing up from the taste of Liz's lips, for he finally kisses her back, wrapping his arms around her waist. Liz follows this up by bringing her body closer to his deepening the kiss until they have to pull away to catch their breath.
"Does this mean you are not upset at me for keeping my secret from you?" Peter asks while still in a daze from that kiss session.
Liz giggles at his expression before answering him. "No Petey, sure, it sucks not knowing, but after giving it some thought, I understand you were trying to protect me and save innocent lives. Though I am curious how many girls you recuse that try to shoot their shot with you?" She raises an eyebrow at him in a playful matter.
"It wouldn't matter who because Spidey has his eyes set on a certain cheerleader with whom I happen to go to school," Peter assures, matching her energy.
"He better because I lost you once. I'm not letting you go again." Liz states sincerely, causing Peter's heart to skip a beat.
"Liz, you sure you want to try us again? Now that you know that I'm Spider-man, will you be able to handle both sides of me and deal with what comes with my responsibilities as such?" Peter asks as his fears of having someone like Liz come into this part of his life rise.
"Now that I know the whole story, I for sure want to be with you by your side, not just as your girlfriend but in any way to help you when going out fighting the good fight," Liz answers confidently. The two gaze into each other's eyes with Peter, igniting their kiss. There are a few things that Peter wants to address, like her role when it comes to Spider-man and the small part where Liz mentions love, but for right now, he instead sticks to the moment with his girlfriend.

Author's note: With the surprising success of my Spectacular Spiderman: The Spectacular Life of Peter and Felicia story, I figure why not do an alternative version where this time Peter gets back with Liz during the summer break. A few reasons I decided to do this is that I also was a fan of Peter x Liz despite how Peter has done her in the show, and I know some prefer Liz over Gwen, so this would be for those fans.
As I will announce in the next update of Peter and Felicia, I won't do harem as of right now, and this won't be major like the original but more causal as of right now. However, I am thinking of bringing a character to pair M.J (with ideas being either Ron, Johnny storm, or Deku as of now) up with since Felicia won't be interested in Peter due to the events in the show. Feel free to fav, follow, and review, and thank you all for the support and patience!
