Sorry for the delay, I picked the worst time to start a fanfic, I'm in the middle of moving house, so…. Yeah, im dumb.

To answer the questions in the comments last chapter;

Rather than police it's more of a military type deal, but that will become more evident as we get into the actual story and not just the prologues.

As for Raven, the shadow war wasn't the sole reason she left, and some of the other reasons are still at play.

I don't want to reveal too much because, well i don't want to spoil my own story xD

Prologue: White

Leaning over the sink, the white haired girl slowly lifted her head to see the damage. Over her left eye was a large cut, she gingerly raised her hand and winced as her fingertips caused the fresh wound to smart. This wasn't the first injury Weiss Schnee had received during training, and she highly doubted it would be the last, it was however the first to be in such a visible location.

"I am sorry you know." Winter, Weiss's elder sister was leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed, her face expressionless as she watched her sister treat the wound. "But you need to be ready, the world is not kind, and you are not ready."

Weiss thought she saw a hint of worry in her sister's face for a moment, but quickly brushed the idea off as her own imagination.

"I know the world isn't kind, but I need to go. I need to prove myself." Weiss almost snapped at her sister, tears welling in her eyes. "You don't get it, everything has always come easily to you, you graduated top of your class at Atlas, you were recruited straight into the Special Operatives by Ironwood himself, even mother…'' Weiss choked on the last word, unable to finish the sentence.

Winter sighed, her face softening slightly as she reached out and placed a comforting hand on Weiss's shoulder. "You know, you have so much more potential than you realize. It may have looked easy to you but I trained more than anyone else in my class, I worked hard to get to where I am. I wish it was enough to protect you, so you didn't have to fight too."

"That's just it, I don't want you to protect me Winter! I want to protect myself, forge my own path, and for that I need to be out of the shadow of the Schnee family name, out of your shadow." Weiss stared into her reflection, a fire burning behind her ice blue eyes.

"I know, I just, I just worry." On the last word Winter jumped ever so slightly as Weiss launched herself at her sister, pulling Winter into an impromptu hug. Winter tensed up and stood awkwardly, clumsily patting Weiss on the back in return.

"I love you too." Weiss mumbled into her sister's shoulder.

2 Weeks Later

Weiss closed her suitcase, and taking a deep breath looked around her room. She didn't know when she would be back, after all it wasn't exactly a short trip between her home in Atlas and Beacon in Vale, which is where she had decided to study. Her father was against the move, which wasn't surprising to Weiss, he wasn't a massive fan of Winter joining the military, and Weiss was joining the academy of a different country. She became frustrated thinking of her father, his controlling nature and coldness hidden behind closed doors, away from the eyes of the public.

Weiss walked down the hallway, passing by Winter's empty room, quickening her step as she passed her parents, then she reached the last door before the stairs. She paused, conflicted. She reached out to knock on the door, but pulled her hand away. She and her little brother, Whitley, had never gotten on very well, but the past couple of months, since she had revealed her plans to attend Beacon Academy, he had frozen her out completely. She muttered her goodbyes to him through the door, knowing it was highly unlikely he could hear her.

Finally after hugging the family butler, Klein, goodbye, Weiss boarded an airship with her luggage (all 5 cases of it). She watched as her home, then the city she had grown up in, became smaller, and, as it became nothing more than a shadow on the horizon, Weiss looked forward instead, towards the future.
