A cold, uneasy feeling arose over all those who stood there that day. The frightening visual of the reason they were caged. The reason they couldn't live their lives peacefully.

That day, served as a fierce reminder of Humankind's current situation.

"What a pain..." Burhan looked over his rations for the week and groaned "I'm not going to be able to live off these for an entire week." He got up, his stomach growled but he ignored it.

"Hey! Where are you going?" Volkan caught up to him before he managed to get anywhere.

"Away from you." He scowled

Volkan socked him in the chest, cracking his knuckles as Burhan fell "Rude."

Burhan rubbed his stomach in pain a bit, before getting back up and grabbing his basket of food "Whatever, I'm going out. The Scout Regiment is returning."

"Do what you want, but don't come crying back to me when you see the sorry state they're in." Volkan sat down on an old wooden stool

Burhan scoffed and left the house, he walked for a bit before finding a crowd of people. Energetically, he ran towards them. However, his face drooped when he saw a small group of people, two of them were pulling a cart covered with a white blanket. While the other 10 were each either injured or seemingly mentally broken.

"Is this really all the Scouts amount too?"

"We're wasting our tax money on these frauds!"

"Why are we putting our lives in their hands?"

Countless murmurs began to spread throughout the crowd, each dissing the Scout Regiment.

An old woman ran up to them "I-Is my son okay? Where's John?" She nervously asked a man who stood in the front of the rest of the group.

The man looked at her with guilt, before signaling for the two who were pulling the cart to bring something over. It was a small object wrapped up in some cloth. The man handed it to the old woman, who opened it up, revealing a severed hand.

The old woman fell to her knees in grief, she glanced up at the man and asked in a wobbly voice "P-Please, tell me, d-did my son help humanity...at all?"

"No..." The man looked at the ground in shame, before continuing to walk forward past the woman.

The crowd disbanded, finding this expedition disappointing. Burhan scowled at those who had belittled the same people who went out to protect them. However, before he could say a word, a rumbling was heard.

A boy ran up to the man "Commander Smith! Titan Sighting approximately 4 meters away from the wall! It's an Abnormal and its speed is getting quicker by the second!"

Commander Smith looked at him shocked "H-How? We just fought for our lives out there, there was no titan in the area-" before he could continue, a loud crash could be heard at the wall. Everyone who wasn't in their homes turned to look. Meeting face to face with a large humanoid being standing in the middle of a large hole in the wall. Its chin was pointed, its eyes slanted, it's mouth was simply a line that went from its face to its ear and black hair that reached its shoulders. This was a Titan, the same beings who had forced humankind into these walls over 100 years ago.

Before anyone could react, the titan began to run, although abnormally slow, similar to the speed of a person walking. However, its speed quickly began to increase as it continued running.

"Everyone evacuate the area at once!" Commander Smith shouted "All Soldiers! Leave the bodies at once and focus on finding and helping anyone who needs it!"

Burhan stood in fear, as the titan soon began to reach the speed of a horse. As its foot was only seconds away from stomping on him, Volkan pushed him out of the way.

"Volkan!" The titan's foot crushed Volkan immediately, Burhan tried to grab him, but a soldier picked him up and dashed towards a boat which was headed to the next wall.

The only thing he saw next was a yellow flash, before both him and the soldier got on the boat.

A loud screech was heard, as titans poured in from the hole. A small titan with short black hair in particular was jumping on top of roofs, still screeching, Burhan realized this screech was what was attracting the titans.

Soon, the boat entered a gate to the next wall. Soldiers, still on land tried to close up the land gate. But, the same titan who had broken the wall had dashed straight into the gate, causing it to collapse.

"It seems like, after all these years. Humanity...has once again lost to the Titans." The soldier who had brought Burhan said solemnly.

Burhan hit the ground in anger "If only...If only I could've been stronger...none of this would've happened!"

This day, Humanity would once again know what they were. What they have been for years.

Prey.
