Lucius Malfoy pulls out of the driveway at Hogwarts in his new, bright, beige Prius, which Harry believes to be almost comical. It's the most boring car Harry has ever seen, but Lucius has an entire closet full of bright, flashy cars and seems just as happy to drive one as he would a really nice Aston Martin. He's also planning on buying them a Mini, which Draco is delighted about.
Lucius rams it into a tiny wall of dirt and Harry and Draco follow in their car, which has a brand new bumper, but is in the shape of a gun turret, and is powered by a series of explosive rockets. Draco drives it, and he's sort of hopeless at the whole driving thing, but Lucius' driving seems to come from some weird other-dimensional place. Harry doesn't quite understand how it works, but he sees how much they like it, so he'll humor them.
"I'm pleased you like it," Lucius tells him. He offers Draco a lopsided grin, and Draco smiles back, then goes to turn off the car. "I've been holed up in my office, trying to work out a few things," he tells them, the slightest hint of pride in his voice. "I've been trying to put your world into perspective, and figure out how we should approach it."
Harry is impressed at how he's managed to keep it a secret from them. Then he feels guilty for thinking that, and dismisses it. He hasn't been exactly in the mood for Lucius' shenanigans, but after his day at St. Mungo's he's been extremely eager to escape. "Sounds like you've been doing a lot of thinking," he tells him, as Draco unlocks the car doors for him.
"You have no idea," Lucius tells him. "I haven't really been up to much, but I should be able to solve some of the issues I've been having in a couple of days. If I don't I'll have to hire someone."
Harry watches Draco, who is leaning against the car, rolling up his sleeve and shrugging. "Any last words before you go away?" he asks, and Lucius' mouth tightens into a line. "Harry," Lucius says to him, with a little warning in his voice. "Keep your room tidy, and don't get into any trouble. I'll be back at the end of the week. I want to find out why you want to go away so badly."
Harry isn't sure how to respond, but he nods in understanding, since it's probably the same thing Lucius wants. "I will, sir."
Lucius smiles at him, looking like he wants to kiss him, then leans in and kisses him. The kiss is slow and restrained and bloody hot, and Harry can barely breathe through his lips.
