Rachel Berry wasn't one to get nervous. She had been on stage plenty of times, for crazy audiences. She had even done a mini tour, mainly for New York, California and Ohio; specifically Lima.
However, being famous had its downfalls. The major being paparazzi and photoshoots. She hated the flashing lights, the bizzare and totally unnecessary questions being fired her way, the way some of the photographers would leer at her and her anxiety would definitely act up when she also would subconsciously remember that they get to keep those pictures.
Her management had said she needed to do this shoot, to promote her next Broadway show. And she really didn't want to.
Apparently according to her manager, Kate, it was a very well known photographer in the industry and had actually requested Rachel. So with a small fight of irritation she had agreed with Kate and gone ahead with it. Suddenly now, she was regretting ever saying yes.
It was a cold and bitter morning, Rachel had cursed when she had stepped out from her apartment block and pulled her coat a little tighter. Her driver was already waiting for her, in a nice top of the range Mercedes. Brian, her driver, was a sweet guy. He had a lovely family and totally adored Rachel, which Rachel always returned.
Brian, had noticed Rachel being rather quiet, he also knew she didn't like photoshoots particularly, so his fatherly instincts kicked in, and he kept making sure she was okay.
They had parked up along some gorgeous rows of apartment looking buildings. Well, Rachel could only assume they were apartments, yet at the same time this is where she would be having her shoot.
"Kate told me I wasn't allowed to let you turn this down, so unfortunately you do have go get out of the car," Brian smiled softly at her through the rear view mirror.
"Sometimes, Bri, you don't have to listen to her you know? I am the one paying her, you should listen to me," she said slightly chuckling, but nonetheless feeling anxious looking up towards the buildings.
"Come on doll, let's get moving shall we?" She took one final breath and stepped out of the car.
They stepped into the building, which was warm. The interior colors were light green, with white accents. A brilliant curved oak desk stood before them, where Brian had gone to speak to the assistant. As soon as the assistant had recognised the name, her smile was instantaneous.
"Hello Miss Berry, my name is Beth, I'm the apprentice that currently works for F. Photography Limited. She was so excited to be working with you today and told us to give you the best experience!" the girl, Beth, had pretty much exclaimed. Rachel had just politely nodded and given her thanks.
A part of her was relieved to find out it was a woman photographing her. They tended to be less...shamless.
Rachel climbed the stairs with so much apprehension, she really did hate these promotions. The girl, who was so young, in fact now that Rachel had thought about it, entirely too young to be an apprentice. She had striking blonde hair, deep brown slightly hazel eyes, with such a charming and down to earth character about her. Beth, well that's her name, she should use it, was rather knowledgeable, she hadn't stopped talking until they had reached the room.
Beth gave her a small smile and opened the door for her. She gave one nod and left. Rachel looked back and the girl was gone, so she took one step in and her breath was immediately taken away...
The room was large, not overly huge but not too cramped either. It was perfect. Although her eyes remained locked with the photographers. Her hand was still on the door which seemed to be the only thing weighing her down right now. She swallowed down a laugh that was about to escape, because this wasn't funny at all.
Stood before her, in black jeans, a white t-shirt with some trainers on, was the one and only Quinn Fabray, who had a small smile playing at her lips.
"Hello Rachel. Its okay if I call you Rachel right? It's and honour to work with you today," Quinn had proudly spoke first stepping forward offering out her hand.
"Quinn, I didn't know y-you were in New York. I-I mean this place is absolutely magnificent," the Brodway star said as she shook Quinns hand, which was warm but firm in hers. And to add to dramatic effects, she spun around gesturing to the place.
Quinn laughed softly ducking her head, nodding."Yes, after Yale I came here, I dropped my minor in drama and started majoring in Photography as well as English Literature," the blonde said still taking in Rachel's features. The little diva was still so entranced with the room.
On one side of the room was a wall, dedicated to the life of one Quinn Fabray, her daughter which looked exactly like the girl, Beth, and another woman.
Rachel spun, "the girl, she's..."
"My daughter, yes. My wife and I welcomed her into the world 15 years ago. Luckily for me, she saw the passion in photography and business which is why she's my apprentice...on the weekends," Quinn had said with an in-love smile also looking at the wall, camera in hand.
"You have a wife?" Rachel asked.
"Yes. Oh lord, we've been married...eighteen years now I believe...she'll kill me for not knowing."
"Are you happy?" Rachel asked again, her insides feeling funny.
"Extremely. Now shall we begin?" Quinn asked already pointing a camera.
The shoot was going rather well Rachel would say. Nothing out of the ordinary, pretty mundane questions being asked. It was weird watching Quinn behind the camera, she looked so comfortable, so at home. She looked happy. Rachel had a sense of contentment fall over her heart that finally, Quinn was happy.
"What are you thinking about?" Quinn asked, looking through the lens. The question immediately broke Rachel from her thoughts.
"That you look happy," Rachel smiled. Snap. Another picture.
"I mean, I was happy when I was with my wife, or when my child was born. I was happy at college," Quinn mused changing some settings on her camera looking for more angles and getting Rachel in different poses.
"Don't be silly Quinn, you knew what I meant," Rachel huffed.
"I always know Rachel," Quinn lowered her camera, to look at Rachel directly into her gorgeous brown eyes. Quinn always had such an intense look when she met Rachel's eyes. No one else ever received that look. That's what made Rachel fall in love she thinks. How intense Quinns eyes could become.
Their staring match had come to a stop when Beth came barrelling through the door.
"Did I do it? I did it right? I practiced so hard and kept trying not to laugh!" She was exuberant. Stumbling over her words and looking at her mother with such excitement.
"You did wonderful baby," Rachel walked over, "Are you sure you don't want to take up acting, you're very good at it," she said kissing her daughters head and squeezing her tight.
"Noooo Mama!" Beth shouted, laughing and trying to squirm away from her mothers hold. Quinn looked over at the pair, putting her camera away. She had a wistful smile on her face, yeah she was happy, and absolutely loved her little family.
She loved Rachel, and the fact she came today to ease Quinn into the photoshoot business. And Rachel thought she did a spectacular job. Their eyes met once again, and that's all they could see, was love.
"First one home, gets extra bacon!" Rachel shouted as she untangled herself from Beth. Both blondes looked at each other, and bolted for the door. They were too much alike.
God she loved them both so much.
Hope you enjoyed! :)
