Today was very sunny in our kingdom, which unfortunately meant that sales were also likely to be slow. However this posed no challenge to me, Kadomon Risch! I have been doing this for many years and will continue to do so to provide for my wife and my precious plum.

There was this weird kid in front of my stall wearing clothes I had never seen before and he didn't even seem to know what an appa was nor could he read the sign so I asked him if he wanted an appa pointing to the fruit and offering him one. He suddenly spaced out as if not present here in the mind so I repeated my question to him a few times.

He seemed to come back to reality and asked me if I knew who he was. What a useless question to ask. Who would forget a face as unique as his with his unruly black hair and scary eyes. I told him I had never seen him before in my life. The kid even had the audacity to act proud of being broke! I barely held back and shouted at him to scram. Honestly, kids these days.

A bit later into the day a silver haired girl walked to my stall and before I could ask her if she wanted any appas I saw she had my precious plum with her! She had gotten lost and the silver haired girl helped her find me for which I was grateful. She was a broke kid and was looking for something that had been stolen from her. I wished her luck in her search and she went on. I guess even broke people could be kind. I played with my cute daughter before starting to sell again.

Raksha, my wife took care of plum and after selling some more appas the broke boy from earlier came again asking some questions about thefts around the area. Even though he didn't buy anything I decided to help pay forward the kindness of the silver haired girl and answered the question telling him about the recent theft in which magic was thrown around the plaza. He seemed to be happy about something so he thanked me and ran away in enthusiasm promising to buy an appa. Good kid! He may become a good customer just yet.

After closing up shop and walking towards home the sky above the slum lit up in azure blue which was unsettling. But finally I could meet my family after a hard day at work.

A couple months went by without anything noteworthy happening and business was good, but that was obvious considering the high quality appas I sold. After a busy hour of business I saw a familiar face chatting it up with someone in front of my stall. It was the broke boy who dressed sharply like a butler now and a girl who looked familiar, but I could not seem to remember her. She seemed to be wearing a hood of sorts.

Nevertheless the boy seemed to have followed through on his promise and came to buy appas. I packed him a whole bag and happily sent them on their way. They seemed like good kids and I continued selling in a good mood that day.

The next day.

It looks like that kid went ahead and got himself into some serious trouble by insulting some people he shouldn't have. I only hoped that he wasn't hurt too badly by the beating the knights were surely going to give him. I sighed and continued my job wondering what compelled the kid to do what he did.

A few days later.

People were crowding around the signboard as apparently it announced the start of the royal selection. I requested the maid that was with the now not so broke boy to handle the stall for a bit and fortunately she agreed. It seemed the boy had the same idea.

5 pictures of the apparent candidates were posted on the board. I was confused and even a bit angry to see a silver haired half elf named "Emilia'' on the board. No way would they be crazy enough to let a relative of the witch lead the country. As I voiced these thoughts though the kid seemed to grow agitated and even defended the half elf saying that she was not related to the witch at all. Before I could calm him down he questioned in agitation about the reason why everyone saw half elves in a negative light, that being the evil witch.

This kid was going down a dangerous path so I had to explain calmly to him that indeed everyone was afraid, with it being common knowledge that satella was a public terror and as long as people saw Emilia that way she could never hope to win. I just had to tell the kid to not say witch loudly in the open again else he could find himself in some serious trouble.

After that I went back to the stall and handed the maid a basket of appas that she wanted to purchase. The kid came back walking towards the stall and when he stood next to the maid. The kid seemed to lose almost all his energy as his eyes glazed over and I could almost see the look of desperation in his eyes. The maid and the boy talked about something right before he took her hand and ran away in a hurry dropping the appas I just gave them. Something was not right and they quickly vanished out of my sight.

While something was clearly very wrong with the boy with how his demeanor changed I could only hope the maid helped him out with it.

A few days later.

Business was slow due to the fog on the Lifaus highway so I had some free time in the coming days. A couple days later my wife rushed to me and relayed to me what some would consider insanity.

I could not believe what my ears were hearing. If someone told me other than my wife that the kid from earlier had single handedly made an alliance between the Emilia, the Karsten and the Hoshin camps, while demolishing the Whale AND the Archbishop of Sloth in the same day I would have told them to scram and stop making up lies. I was shocked, but it was not long before the entire district erupted into celebration. It was not everyday that two plagues on the entire world were rid at once.

My wife and I hugged each other and I took the entire day off to celebrate with my family. Plum was also very happy about the festivities taking place.

It was announced that the Sin Archbishop of Sloth and the White Whale were defeated which was a momentous thing since Sloth was said to be the most prevalent force of the dreaded Witch Cult. I looked back on the day that I met the kid and never would I have thought that a broke boy would one day take down these walking disasters. Maybe the kid was destined to do great things in the coming future.

Hah I owed that kid a few extra appas next time he swung by it seems.
