Skyler opened her eyes and blinked in confusion at the white tiled ceiling that was unfamiliar to her. As she looked around the room, she recognized that she was in a medical facility.

And, because she'd been there often enough with Elisa and a brief stint herself, she recognized the clinic at the Eyrie building.

She tried to shift, to lift her hands, but there was a weight on her right hand holding it down.

She looked down the length of the bed, spotting Elisa in the corner asleep upright in a chair and Nayeli sitting next to the bed with her head down and using Skyler's arm as a pillow.

Both were softly snoring.

Skyler shook her head at the two of them. Like mother, like daughter.

Skyler moved slowly, removing her arm from under Nayeli without waking her, and managed to slip out of the bed without waking either one up. She moved to the bathroom to relieve her protesting bladder before hunting up her clothes.

In the small wardrobe style closet, she found the comfortable jeans and tee she'd been wearing while she'd been at the condo and waiting for Elisa to come home. Slipping the clothing on, she gathered her shoes in one hand and tiptoed out of the room.

"Trying to escape?" Doctor James asked, leaning against a wall with his arms crossed.

"Yeah," Skyler quipped with a grin. "Sorry to have worried everyone. How long have I been here?"

"A few hours," Doctor James said, pushing off the wall. "You got here with a significantly high fever, but no injuries and no physical cause for it."

Skyler grimaced. "Sorry about that."

Doctor James shook his head. "Come on. Let's get you something to eat, some water to drink, and give you another once over to make sure you're really alright."

Skyler felt her shoulder drop. "Alright," she said sullenly, feeling like a kid being called to the principal's office.

"Hey, it won't be so bad," Doctor James laughed. "I'll even give you a lollipop after."

Skyler rolled her eyes and Doctor James sighed. "You have been spending too much time around Elisa. You're beginning to act like her."

"I'll take that as a compliment," Skyler said with a laugh.

"Somehow," Doctor James said, opening the door to an exam room and holding it open for Skyler, "I thought you would."
