SomeDude xP chapter 8 . Dec 26, 2021

Man that was an awesome chapter and it was unexpected, sure I expected a human attack due to the unidentified vehicles in the previous chapter, but i totally forgot about that specific group.

Apart from the dumb kid, if I remember right, some of that group shooting the farm were the guys they were supposed to fight back in town at some bar right? Man talk about butterfly effect haha.

F for you know who, I guess not everyone can escape fate.

Anyways loved the chapter.

Also later im going to take a look at your other stories.

Oh and as other reader said, thanks for the gift and a Merry Christmas to you and all your readers.

Hey man im glad you enjoyed it and to be honest I forgot about them too but with each chapter I go and rewatch the episodes I change or delete so I felt I had to throw them in. yeah some of them I added in a few more bad guys to make them a real threat. Yeah I figured it was time for a secondary character to die since I had saved so many already it is a ZA after all. Oh yeah? Which were you thinking of looking at? I recommend either my SW rebels or maybe my Halo or BSG. Also hope your Christmas and new year's was acceptable.

Awesome and Dean Scott im glad you enjoyed the story so far and I hope you keep on reading

Sitting down grateful to finally be done it had been a long day. Thinking back over the last couple hours after the raiders had been taken care of. Then the issue of the barn full of Hershel's family and friends breached. I had used the radio to call back to base for some help That had been the easy part the hard part had been digging dozens of graves for Otis and every one of the walkers the Greene's had known. Followed by the burning of all the bodies they didn't know. Even with the old Church bus that had brought help.

I may be exhausted but I think that went well Shane, Dale and jimmy are all alive. and I think Hershel and the others have had their whole curable disease mentality cured so when we get ready to leave they will come with ….

"Hey dad" Carl had come up and sat next to me breaking my train of thought

"Hey kid, how are doing?" I asked looking at his dirty sweat streaked face. He had been right there with the rest of us helping with a smaller kid sized shovel working just as hard as the adults to bury the Greene family dead.

He chuckles "everything hurts im glad we are done though Mr. Hershel seemed to really appreciate everything we were doping to help his family find peace."

I laugh right along with him tussling his messy hair "you know why we bury the ones we lose right? so they can find peace"

"Yeah I know dad" he sighs falling asleep against the tree and my shoulder.

Poor kid his life has been hard but compared to what he would of dealt with by this time it's been a walk in the park.

Laying my jacket next to me I carefully maneuver Carl off of me and down so his head is resting on the jacket. As I finish moving around and he doesn't wake up I breathe a sigh of relief

"Hey rick?" I whirl bringing my finger to my lips indicating silence to see Hershel who takes a small step back and nods mouthing SORRY I wave it away and motion for him to follow me. we walk in silence for a minute to get out of earshot of carl.

"Hey Hershel what can I do for you?" I ask the old farmer

"Well" he started "the farm is a mess and our family was the only thing tying us here now that they have been slaugh…have found peace I wanted to ask" he looked over the farm seeing the two dozen graves of his wife, his children, friends and neighbors. Then off to the side away from anything that could accidently catch fire was the inferno that was a pile of burning walkers and the attempted raiders. "Could we go with you? We will all work hard and ern our…"

I interrupted him "Yes you can come with us its safer to travel or put down roots with numbers so the more the merrier I guess."

He shook his head looking grateful that he could still do his best to protect his remaining family.

later that day as we gathered around the dining room table after the dinner dishes had been removed I spread the county map I had found in the city hall building out "we need to find a safer place to lay our heads we have stripped every house and store in town while there is plenty of food its not safe here." I announce

Everyone nods leaning forward to look at a state work map that had been found in City hall street department that showed a yearly updated map of city and state as well as privately owned businesses and property I scrutinized looking for the prison it had to be within at least fifty miles of this town and the farm. Not wanting to throw it out first I let the others look it over first.

"So where are we heading?" Shane asked

Merle looking over the map "we need someplace with good fences and a secure place to rest."

Hershel looked down as well "we need someplace to plant and raise the animals were taking too."

Glenn took his arm from around Maggie's waist "We also need someplace safe to relax and store all the stuff we gather"

Dale moves away from the sisters Andrea and Amy who had become like his own daughters during their time on the farm "like Merle said we need fences to store our vehicles in and farm like Hershel said"

With enough talk out there I pointed to a place I had found earlier not to mention the best place the survivors took shelter in all five season I saw of the walking dead before I died unfortunately they had just announced season six a week before I had that very anime run in with Truck-kun I think as aloud I say "what about here?"

Everyone starts passing the information book that had more detailed information about every state owned location on the map looked excited

The West Georgia Correctional facility, a medium security home to almost a thousand prisoners with a staff of two hundred and fifty. fences twenty five feet high topped with barbed wire a gated entrance as the only way inside almost an acre of lawn space for the convicts to have yard time. backed up with another fifteen foot fence.

Smirking hopefully an extra two weeks will not be too bad on the place. knowing the prisoners are inside the cafeteria and how they openly tried to kill the real Rick, Daryl, and I forget who else I could care less if they survived to be found so to be sure let's make it an extra week or so see if they die.

"Looking at all the roads that lead from the farm here in Senoia looks like we can take this Fair Rd. All the way the"…my finger stops on a Georgia Army National Guard armory and a smile forms "since its on the way might as well check it out chances are its overrun or there might still be military hold outs somewhere. So we can stop there for some salvage and to look around." I finish

From the approving looks everyone like the idea of getting more ammo while we have a lot we will always need more… "But before we leave this area we need to make sure to grab every scrap of food and fuel we can find so I think one more week here just to finish checking over every last house and store…"before I even get the chance to say it the entire group laughs and finishes my line of thought "better to have plenty now then nothing later"

For the extra week half of us started vigorously stripping houses and buildings we hadn't touched yet. Grabbing food, working vehicles, and generally everything that wasn't nailed down and even then we pulled the nails up with it with a couple of solar panels that were on the roof of the small clinic in town and on top of city hall. We even found a pair of wind turbines some farmers had rigged up to generate power.

The other half of us drove all around town looking for any livestock that may have survived this long the greens had a few horses, a single milking cow, and a few dozen chickens they had managed to keep from being ate by walkers but it wasn't enough. With some luck there would be other animals out there we could make use of. It was hilarious the reason Hershel had given me when I asked about other farms and their animals he didn't want to steal them from their owners bwahahahahhahahaha god that man his humor would be almost as valuable as his medical knowledge.

Unfortunately not much was found: three cows, a bull, a horse, and five pigs most of them in sealed barns the owners had filled with feed most likely back when the epidemic had first happened. But other than that there was nothing but picked clean carcasses dotting the farms.

The end of the week came faster than expected but when your busy time flies. Anything that could be useful was loaded up and the massive convoy was readied to head out into the devastated country side. looking over the mass of vehicles I felt a surge of pride as I remember after the farm was overrun. They lost the RV most of their vehicles and several had died. And now as we leave the farm behind we have

5 Humvees (2 unarmed transports from the high school)

Dales RV V8 titan

2 pick-ups with machine guns mounted in the beds

Tow truck Burger food truck

Roadside service tool truck cattle truck (hauling all the livestock we had rescued)

Construction site water truck

Bank armored car Eighteen-wheeler with trailer

Oilmen gas truck Shane's jeep

With everyone and everything loaded and ready to go the doors were locked and the gates secured if nothing else it was a secured area free of walkers to fall back to. Getting on the radio I call out for the convoy to move out leaving our two story fortress behind.
