"So what are you planning to do while you're here?" Steph asked. "So far we've only had a beach day, which Olive enjoyed almost as much as Bobby and Cal did."

"We are going to have a little beach time ourselves," Harper answered. "Definitely shopping and a lot of picture taking for everyone back home. I'd like to do some hiking and maybe try snorkeling, along with exploring some caves, but someone worries that our baby will come out with three heads if I do anything more strenuous than open my eyes in the morning."

"Am I wrong to care?" Kane asked me.

"No ..."

"I admit," Steph interrupted, "I was the one worried that breathing wrong would somehow hurt Olivia. My guy had to talk me down a lot. He still does, but for different concerns."

"It worked out okay for you," Kane said. "That baby girl of yours is something special."

"You looking to babysit next?" I asked.

"Fuck no. She'd have me wrapped around that tiny finger of hers and then hog-tied minutes after. I'm a sucker for beautiful females with dark eyes."

That he said while looking sideways at Harper. If anyone has to worry, it's her. I know how thoroughly I love and take care of my wife ... and that kind of devotion isn't for the faint of heart.

"See ... just when I think I'm about to scream, he says something like that to me and I melt all over again," Harper said to us.

"I don't have any proof of this," my wife answered back, "but I swear sweet talking their way into or out of something was part of their training."

"Nah, it comes natural ... for me anyway. Ranger may have needed a lesson or two drilled in."

Steph snorted. "Not likely. Charm, confidence, and sex appeal, flow through his body right along with his blood. If anything, he was giving you lessons on how to behave."

"Only some have stuck," I pointed out.

"You have Harper and Baby-Cole now to reinforce what you've taught him. He'll be okay ... his family may need my help, though."

"We can handle him, but I will be calling you to have lunch or just to visit and say hi," Harper told Stephanie.

"I'm holding you to that. Our Rangeman group is an incredible one and we're always happy to include a new family member ... or two when your baby is born. I would say three, but Kane was already a long-distance member."

"Thanks. I never thought I'd have kids ... and I still wake up some mornings surprised that I'm actually pregnant, so I'll need all the advice and help I can get from someone who's been through it."

"I remember that feeling, but once we got Olive home, Ranger convinced me that she's in the best hands. Speaking of ... would you mind if I checked to see how she's taking care of her Uncles before our food comes? Then I'll be set for the night, I promise."

"Hell, I've been waiting for another round of Sneak-A-Peek," Kane added. "The sooner the better."

"Careful ... or you'll be put on Olive's watch list," I warned.

"She doesn't scare me."

"Liar," I fired back.

"I am lying my ass off," he said, waving his cloth napkin in surrender. "She scares the shit out of me, but in a good way. Something that small and beautiful should come with bodyguards."

Steph grinned. "Olive did. A whole building full of them ... in three different states."

She took my phone and Olivia and her Uncles joined us at dinner.

"Uh-oh," Steph said, analyzing the way Olive's four limbs were waving as she was lying on the couch between her Uncles, each holding a toy or shaking a rattle trying to amuse her. "I recognize that smile and full-body movement. That's our baby's wind-up right before she conks out. I'm not sure the guys will make it. Their faces already look exhausted and their expressions scream stressed. I may be mistaken, but I'm not, that Asia-shaped splotch on Bobby's t-shirt was caused by her."

"How much more do you want to pay Brown back?" I asked her.

"Are you thinking sneaky or mean? Because I really don't want to torture them."

"More sneaky. We can do some sightseeing on the way home."

"Sounds good to me."

I called Cal using Steph's cell and could hear Olivia mangle-squealing the alphabet in the background as we watched her play on my phone.

"Change of plans," I informed him. "Steph and I will be a little later than expected. Olivia had better be asleep at her usual time. If she's not ... I'll know."

The line went silent as he repeated their predicament to Bobby. Their first Olive-watching job was summed up with two words I heard and saw Brown clearly say.

"Oh shit."
