Before Blaze met Sonic, sunny days only reminded Blaze about how her flame would never burn strong and beautiful enough. The light of the sun radiating all over the kingdom reminded her of the power she would never be able to obtain.
Then Sonic and his friends came to the kingdom. Sonic the fastest hedgehog alive that took the entire kingdom by storm. He became one of the fire kingdom's greatest heroes.
Sonic radiated sunlight more than she ever could with his green eyes and smile.
But Blaze wasn't really jealous of that. If anything, she was captivated.
When Sonic traveled to the fire kingdom, he never expected to run into the most beautiful princess he had ever seen. And that was saying a lot because as a hero, he met princesses from all sorts of worlds.
One day Sonic would be able to tell her about how her lavender fur shone in the sunlight. That her flames were powerful and beautiful like the sunlight that shined on everything.
But Sonic wasn't good at romantic compliments.
So the two of them would just spend the day together, enjoying each other's company.
"Come here Sonic, let's sit in the shade," Blaze said as she walked over to a shady palm tree. She sat by the palm tree and smiled as she closed her eyes.
Sonic was more than willing to join Blaze, but he was curious.
"Did you get too much sun Blaze?" Sonic asked.
"Hm?" Blaze opened her eyes. "No. I just want to enjoy the gentle wind more than harsh sunlight right now."
Sonic smiled and sat down next to Blaze.
"Y'know, there would be no wind if there was no sun," Sonic said.
"Oh?" Blaze turned to Sonic. "I wouldn't give the sun all the credit."
"You wouldn't?" Sonic asked.
Blaze curled herself up into a ball. "No."
Sonic was confused, but then Blaze gave him an explanation.
"Sometimes bright sunny days can be melancholy too. The sun burns brighter than our mystical flames, and the wind isn't there to comfort the kingdom," Blaze said.
Sonic was stunned, but then he looked at Blaze. She looked a bit distressed, and he gently placed his hand on her arm.
"I understand," Sonic said.
Sonic thought of sunny days that were too powerful, then as if Tails' big brain rubbed off of him, he thought of an idea.
Sonic got up, and Blaze quickly turned to Sonic with a confused expression on her face.
"I know a place where we could go," Sonic said as he held out his hand for her.
Blaze was still utterly confused, but she nodded and took Sonic's hand.
And once again, Sonic took Blaze away on small adventures like he always did. But this destination was different.
The destination they stopped at was a quaint farmland. But Blaze was in awe at the structure before her.
Sonic pointed. "Look Blaze! Windmills!"
Blaze kept hold of Sonic's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze as she watched the windmill move with the wind against the bright sunlight.
Sonic scratched behind his ear. "They're pretty cool, but they're also fun to play on."
"Huh?" Blaze asked.
Sonic lifted Blaze up bridal style without saying anything, and they speeded off again. But when Blaze blinked her eyes, she saw they were on top of a windmill blade. And it was like being part of a ferris wheel.
Blaze looked at the sunlight as if she and the sun were on equal footing now. The view before her was breathtaking.
"Wow! This is amazing!"
Sonic smiled at Blaze as he continued to hold her in his arms and enjoy the view with her.
The peaceful building was surprisingly made for grinding wheat which made the most delicious chili dogs Sonic and Blaze ate. Then Blaze and Sonic enjoyed the most beautiful golden sunlight by the windmills until they decided it was time to return to the kingdom.
Sonic carried Blaze bridal style as the stars lit up the sky, and Blaze lit up her hands with fire to help guide the two of them home.
Sonic stopped on the balcony of Blaze's bedroom and set her down gently.
"Thank you, Sonic," Blaze said.
Sonic blushed. "Anything for you, Blaze."
Sonic took a moment to look at the stars above them.
"I would like to watch the stars with you too, but you need to rest after all that sunlight," Sonic said.
Then suddenly, Sonic was caught off guard by Blaze placing her hands on his shoulders. Sonic looked at her and saw a glow in her amber eyes as she moved in to kiss him on the lips. Sonic closed his eyes and enjoyed the kiss as he placed his hand on the back of her neck.
When they broke the kiss, Blaze smiled warmly, and Sonic's face glowed pink, which caused Blaze to giggle.
"Goodnight Sonic," Blaze said.
Blaze took his hands one more time before releasing them. She walked away and turned back one last time to smile at him. Sonic gave her a slow wave as he was still speechless. But he was incredibly lovestruck.
"Goodnight…Princess Blaze," Sonic said.
And when Blaze walked into her bedroom, Sonic sighed happily as he sat on the balcony railing and watched the stars. But the stars paled in comparison to how beautiful Blaze was.
And years later, when Sonic and Blaze were finally getting married, the sunlight above them made everything beautiful. Sonic and Blaze took hands as the wedding officiator did the speech. And then Sonic and Blaze made their vows.
"As Queen of the Kingdom of Fire, I accept Sonic the Hedgehog as my Prince Consort and husband," Blaze said.
Sonic grinned and squeezed her hands.
"Blaze, my queen. I will be a husband and prince consort that you and this kingdom can be proud of."
All of Sonic and Blaze's friends cheered and rejoiced for the union of the hero of the wind and the queen of fire.
"You may not kiss the bride," the wedding officiator said.
It was a bright and beautiful wedding. And when the stars lit up the night, Blaze and Sonic could finally have some time for themselves. They sat down together, holding each other's hands tenderly.
"Blaze, you became a queen of fire that made everyone proud," Sonic nearly cried happily saying that.
"No one could outshine your flame. Not even the sun itself," Sonic said.
Blaze blushed and held Sonic closer. "That's only because I have you Sonic," she took his hand and kissed it. "I never would've found my inner power without you."
The two of them smiled at each other.
"I will love you forever, Sonic the Hedgehog."
Sonic smiled and cried happy tears.
"I love you too Blaze," he said.
And the two of them kissed again under the stars.
Hey guys! I am finally speaking in the author's notes.
I am not sure why I decided to add a timeskip wedding at the end...I guess I just wrote it on a whim.
It's sappy as hell but I hope someone enjoys it. I will see all of you tomorrow!
