# Fears

"Natsu, don't you have any fears?"

It is one of the days Natsu and Happy have come to instill in her mind that the pig hour is not hers. That she will not be alone. In fact, after several years of progressive missions, solitude was never hers to begin with. She had long been accepted that her home is not even in her sole possession.

Her apartment is her teammates'. The rent, even so.

Thus, their schedule had become engraved in her consciousness, occasionally with Gray by the living room, Erza inside the tub and Wendy Charle at her desk.

But the couch in her bedroom, that's Natsu's and on her pillow you'll find, Happy.

She can't help but snort, it became a routine. Expecting their arrival every now and then nodding to herself that without the constant companies, her day will absolutely not be complete.

And so, a night with 'her' boys is normal. All lightings illuminating the whole place, more so the brightness of their laughs.

She's looking over the moon, suddenly becoming melancholy at the sight. She hears herself screaming a name, exactly who she's with right now. Frowning at the pain in her chest, she abruptly lifted a palm to feel it, blowing a shaky breathe.

The good sound in her background halted. She can imagine their curious eyes boring in her head but she pays them no mind. She's busy thinking about the possible things that can happen in the future.

'Will she able to go on if that happens?'

"Lucy, are you okay?"

'How can he not know any fears?'

She releases again another round of heavy air, trying to soften her clenched artilleries. Unclogging the log dropped on her middle. She leans by the window, head over her arm, eyes turning into slits as she gazes beside the street lamp wondering why she's in this mood.

'Is it time of the month?'

With a trice of a sigh, footsteps are now on tune. It is a cue that there is definitely something going on.

The thick smoke permeating the surroundings, her eyes glistening to each sting. But her care was not at all for her, all she wanted was to see a salmon hair walking back to them.

She had a moment of two hard pumps, echoing all throughout her body. It radiated an ominous threat, dreading. That shook her to the core and her pupils dilating as she lurched forward, eyes widening.

She acknowledged that timing was wrong but she has no control and all she can do was find him.

She yelled his name.

Although a struck splits her world, her fear presented before her, he's there. She watched Natsu on top of a thorn, pierced on his back.

The image of him in the Kingdom of Stella flashing on and off her peripheral made her body limp, abundant tears escaped her ducts and her throat ripped a tone that incinerates the sense of ears.

A hope seeped through in flooding her insides when she heard him whimper.

The edge perhaps only harrowed a small of his back because it's tip never reached ahead.

The series of events goes on with Happy flying off, Gray helping her up, Erza attacking the remaining allies of the Colossal in a shot and Wendy healing the man who only grinned after cherishing his victory.

She may have smiled and wiped the tear she shed but it bothered her until they went home.

Whatever she does, it rankles.

'Just a life without him, I don't know. A mystery I never wanted to unravel.'

For the nth time, she heaves and there she snaps by a jolt of finger poking her.

"Oi, Lucy. What really is your problem? Stop doing that, it's irritating."

She rolls her eyes at him. Typical Natsu. "I asked if you have any fears, you never answer. Clearly you're not listening, you're the one irking me."

He rises an eyebrow. "What? I did."

"Yeah, he shrugged." Happy snickers, obviously enjoying the arguments.

Lucy glares at Natsu furiously, disappointed that he's not very sensible today.

'Neither I, maybe. It's probably the time of the month, it's what I'll blame then.'

She then felt the fullness of the day, letting her shoulders down sluggishly. Her reasoning starting to wane as she produces another whine.

"Whatever Natsu, I know you don't have fears anyway. Never mind."

Failing the worried look in Natsu's face, she weakly shoves him and proceeds to lay on her bed. The softness of the mattress giving bliss to her aching joints and brain. Even the hum of her heart slightly pushing the thoughts aside first.

She's exhausted.

"Don't forget to clean your mess before you go. Or if you wanted to stay, whatever..."

Her voice becomes a murmur, an indication that she has no more energy to deal with anything.

Natsu switches his gaze to his exceed partner and nods at him in silent agreement.

Happy quietly scampers out the living room but not before putting back the boards they used in playing.

He began dipping himself on the bed, a solemn windows to fears lingering at the back of her head.

He began recounting his memories, wincing at every frozen scenario he witnessed.

'Who said I don't have fears?'

'I am scared everytime I see you fall.'

'I am scared of the thought of you leaving.'

'I am scared of you not running away from danger.'

'I am scared of being in a different place from you.'

'I am scared of your tears.'

'I am scared of our hands slipping away from one another.'

'I am scared at any each scream of my name from you.'

'I am scared whenever you feel weak.'

'I am scared of your heart breaking.'

'I am scared when you're silent.'

'I fear of your paleness.'

'I fear seeing no light in your eyes.'

'I fear holding you in my arms.'

'I fear having no smile from you.'

'I fear the smell of your blood.'

'I fear no home to stay.'

'I fear the days passing.'

'I fear leaving you.'

'I fear of you.'

'I fear of my fears'

"Lucy."

Fluorescents are off. The moon beams entering the room, missing the shadow forms reflecting from the walls of two people keeping the darkness of losing one another by ensuring to be by their side as long as they live.
