Before the final mission launch (14 days before impact), Nevada...

"Professor, the rockets are ready,"

"Very well, to the bay shall we?" Lisa said in her commanding posture as the engineer ran to the bay. Everyone was tense, this was the final mission. All the other five had failed. Hopefully, it won't fail this time.

She felt the world's burdens on her shoulders, but that doesn't warrant a slouch. The viewing bay was already filled this time. The Russian Delegacies, The President, and some others.

"Are we ready for launch professor?" The engineer asked.

"Yes, commence the launch, please,"

"T-minus 10. 9. 8..."

"What if we fail?"

"7. 6. 5..."

"Where would we go?"

"4. 3. 2..."

"I'm scared,"

"1. Blast off."

And the rockets flew high, a fleet with flags of the nations, the names of the scientists all flew. But then suddenly, one by one exploded. Crashing back down on earth. Lisa saw the bunker bay next to them going up in flames as a thruster flew into it. She could hear the screams. We failed. I failed. The rockets made the sky lit up in flames. Immediately, Lisa went on the line with the other launch zones. They all reported the same explosions. The Russian rockets exploded, the American rockets exploded. Everyone's rockets exploded. Then a thruster fell on their bunker. Lisa thought it would be her death, it wasn't. She woke up in a hospital, she had a laceration on her head and nothing else. She could hear them crying. The floor was covered in blood. The president was dead. They failed.

"I'm sorry,"

"I'm sorry,"

"I'm sorry,"

I packed my bags and all my things. I sat on the bonnet, and I cried. What the hell am I doing, I doomed the earth, now I'm running for safety in space. I don't deserve this. My family. They deserve it. They didn't do what I did. Hopefully, mom, and dad would go in my stead. So I called up the captain, we had the shuttle ready for months since we found out about the asteroid.

"Captain, this is Professor Lisa Loud,"

"Yes, professor?"

"How many more pods do you have vacant?"

"5 more, do you have a plus one or something professor?"

"I need all five, how much would that be?"

"Are you sure prof?"

"I am sure, how much for the pods?"

And there I was, liquidising all of my assets. I gave everything, but all I could afford was 4. I can't. I was left with nothing. I have no house, no money, no nothing anymore, just a car and what's on my body. I cried. I wanted to save them all. I couldn't. I am a failure. 11 days to impact. I can make it home. I can. I will. I rode out, driving on the road, day in and day out. I must reach them. I will reach them.

Her phone rang, and she picked it up. "Lisa Loud speaking,"

"Yo, no professor?"

"Who is this?"

"It's me, Lily!"

"Lily? how are you, youngest sibling?" Lisa asked.

"Alive, listen, me, Luna, Sam, and Lincoln was wondering, what are you doing right now? Since you're like a genius and all,"

Lisa wanted to answer with the news she was bearing, but she doesn't want to cause any infighting on the last days on earth. "I failed. I'm sorry family, I'm on my way to Royal Woods, that is where you are I assume,"

"It's okay Lisa... wanna get a beer tonight?" Lily asked, completely untouched by the news that the world is ending.

"That would be irr..." She saw the timer. "You know what, make it a double,"

"Professor Lisa Loud PhD wants a double pint, I say it is the end of the world," Lisa heard the laughter. She cried, she failed them.

"... yes, it is,"
