Rhythm of My Heart
Honeymoon hotel, Nassau, Caribbean:
"That was fun," Lois said sarcastically. Her hair was windblown, her eyes burned from the wind, and her back felt stiff from being held for hours.
"Well, it wasn't my idea," Clark said just as sarcastic. Their delayed, by over six months, honeymoon, was not starting out too well.
"I was thinking of you, Clark. If we booked a flight and you had to leave, well, flights are expensive and so, I canceled it."
"Lois, that's not why you wanted to fly. You love flying with me especially high in the sky."
"Don't try and make me feel better. Look at me!" She went over to the mirror in the bedroom. He followed her and came up behind her.
"You look fine," he said and tried to smooth her hair down.
The hotel, fully booked, found them a room because they felt sorry for them. They were familiar with Mr. and Mrs. Kent. The honeymoon suite had been booked many times before, but they cancelled at the last minute just as many times. The fact that they were there and checked in did bode well that they would be staying at least for duration of their week-long honeymoon.
Clark sighed, dropped their two small bags, began to unpack, and watched his wife of six months. The marriage ceremony went off without too much trouble, but an hour before the ceremony, he had to leave, sending Lois into a tailspin, but he arrived just in time to be pronounced husband and wife at last.
"I'm taking a bath and I hope it will relax me," she said and went into the bathroom and slammed the door.
He sighed and although he had packed his suit, he stayed firm to not leave her alone, especially on their honeymoon. He had to make this right then knocked and whispered, "Lois, Um, I'll be right back."
No answer with the water running; she did not hear him. He felt awful about it; he left and went in search of special flowers, her favorites and a gift would smooth things over, he thought. He arrived back an hour later to find her in a bathrobe, blow-drying her hair and her mood may have improved, he hoped.
Standing behind her, he showed her the flowers. "These are for you."
She sighed and took the flowers. "Thank you, Clark; they're lovely." She took a sniff then watched him in the mirror. "Well, I'm waiting."
He frowned. "Waiting for what?"
"An apology would be nice for almost destroying our honeymoon."
"Oh, yes, I do owe you an apology. I'm sorry, Lois, but I will make it up to you with a special dinner planned for the two of us. Room service should be here shortly."
That got her attention. "Room service does sound good. I am a little tired. Thank you, Clark for thinking of me." She left the bathroom and entered the bedroom and searched for a night gown and matching robe she brought for evenings in their room. After getting dressed, she waited for him at the small dining table for two.
"Yes, always thinking of you. How's this?" He asked and held out a small box in gift-wrapped paper with a bow. "Open it."
"What's this?" She asked and took the box.
He sat down opposite her. "Open it and see."
Inside was a lovely necklace with diamond studs throughout. Also, inside were diamond earrings to match. "Oh my, these are lovely."
"Here, let me." He helped with the necklace while she added the earrings. "Do you like it?"
She touched the necklace. "It's lovely. Thank you, Clark." They stared at each other. "You're forgiven."
"Thank you, Lois, I love you." He leaned in and they kissed slowly at first, then passionately.
"I love you too." She whispered between kisses.
Still kissing her, he picked her up and took her to bed. He helped her remove her gown and robe, while he removed his clothes quickly. Now under the covers, more love words were exchanged and then the talking stopped as she removed the jewelry and set them aside.
With only one thought in mind, Clark kissed her repeatedly in deep kisses that had her writhing and thrusting her hips against him. As he took note of her hips as they lifted off the bed, her breasts flushed in her excitement, her nipples hard waiting for him and her head was thrown back on the pillow eyes shut as if waiting for his next move. Her underwear was the last to go as he removed them slowly, he inhaled her scent, and he felt his body instantly react to her unique essence.
"Lois, do you have any idea what you do to me?"
Lois opened her eyes and what she saw on his face melted her heart. "I have some idea because I feel the same way. I want you, Clark."
He kissed her then, in a way that was so warm and coaxing that every rational thought vanished from Lois' mind. She was getting light-headed and dizzy as she clutched at his arms needing to get closer. Gradually his mouth shifted away from hers, and he bit softly at her throat. He was murmuring something, and Lois had to concentrate to hear him.
"I have no self-control where you're concerned. Every minute I'm not with you, all I can think about is being close to you like this."
"Oh, Clark," Lois murmured, loving his words. She could not remember ever being so turned on. His hands were everywhere, smoothing over her breasts and tweaking her nipples, and then down her back, touching her thighs. Lois' hands were anything but still. She loved touching him.
Clark thought the few times before they spoke their vows and they had made love had been incredible, but this was something else entirely. They're married now and everything is different. Lois parted her thighs and Clark stroked her and she was warm and ready for him. He thrust into her then, filling her with a low, thick slide. Lois gasped with an effort to accommodate him. Once Clark was inside of her, he became gentler finding a bit of control.
His mouth returned to hers, thrusting his tongue inside, even as he pushed deeper, taking more of her than he ever thought possible. Lois could feel her muscles begin to tighten and strain. She raised her arms and legs to encircle him and pull him closer. Clark quickened his pace and drove her to a piercing climax, and he was right behind her, then he pulled her close and stroked her hair and arms.
Half an hour later, the food arrived, and Clark slipped on a robe and answered the door. He paid the server. Lois left the bed, pulled on her nightgown and robe and they at once began to eat.
'Oh, wow, I'm starving and this is delicious," Lois said between bites of baked chicken, mashed potatoes, string beans, dinner rolls, and sparkling wine.
Now stuffed, they returned to bed and tried to relax, both exhausted, then turned on the television, only to lull them asleep.
Hours later, morning came, as they both awakened and they at once moved closer holding each other tight.
"You know, Lois, after I left you last evening, I did a lot of thinking about us and the past six months of our marriage."
She leaned up to see his face. "What do you mean?"
He took a deep breath and forged ahead. "I knew I was hurting you, but I never want to hurt you again. Our past has been full of hurt and regret and I do not want to continue our marriage that way."
"Neither do I," she admitted. "I think of the way we met, because we were both too young to understand these feelings, but as we grew older, it became easier to understand what those feelings meant."
"But I have always wondered why it took us years to admit it aloud but the turning point was when I finally told you my secret, then everything fell into place."
She thought about that. "But the night you kissed me in the alley, which is when I knew the truth but decided to wait for you to tell me and you did."
"You never told me you realized the truth that night," he said surprised to hear this.
"Do you remember after you told me, I jumped on top of you and I asked 'What took you so long?' You appeared stunned that I knew the truth."
"Come here you." He pulled her close and kissed her forehead. "I prayed that you would know and you did."
"How could I not know? The way you kissed me; wow, I loved it."
"I ran away, so I did not see your reaction; you were in a daze, eyes closed, then I left."
"I'm still amazed we made it to the alter, married and living our lives together all of it."
That surprised him. "Come on, Lois, everybody knew about us. We were the ones that took years to figure it out."
She chuckled. "That is true." She stretched and looked around. "Are you hungry?"
"Yes, I'm hungry. What do you want to eat?"
"You decide. Race you to the shower." She jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom, but he was too fast.
"Hey, no fair; using superpowers on our honeymoon. Not allowed," she said and turned on the water.
"Sorry," he said and followed her inside, where he at once grabbed her and kissed her deeply, both their mouths were open diving in and out.
Moaning then she kissed him back loving the tastes. "Oh, Clark," she managed to say between kisses on her lips, her throat and her ear.
"Still hungry?" He asked not expecting an answer.
"Oh yes; give it to me." She managed to say begging for it.
Now against the wall, he lifted her hips and then he was inside, filling her to the hilt, sliding in and out repeatedly.
Pushing her hair out of her eyes, he kissed her again, loving how her moans and heavy breathing made him think they could do this now until eternity. A future with Lois was always what he wanted and needed and now she is here with me wanting the same thing. He felt blessed that they found each other and in such an unbelievable way, but it happened and now here they are.
"Clark, I can't," she whispered hoarsely barely getting the words out.
"Almost there," he said and he felt her body shake and moan and he followed her to the top and cried out his completion against her throat. He gently pulled out of her and turned on the water higher and they showered and left the shower, dried off, got dressed and decided to eat in the room.
He called room service to come for last night's dishes and to order the big breakfast, including coffee and juice, for them both.
At the table, they talked about their lives since they met, mostly the past few years and why it was important for them to make a sincere effort to not hurt each other, not anymore.
"Lois, I know how you feel, especially when I refused to tell you the truth about me, that I was the Blur."
"Yes, it did hurt, but the night you kissed me, I knew you wanted me to know the truth. That lessened the hurt and the pain. I knew that night that you loved me, even though it took time for you to admit it, but I knew."
He took her hand. "You were right; we truly are something. All the stops and starts, all of it, it led us to this; you and I married, in it for the long haul, no matter what."
"No matter what," she agreed and squeezed his hand.
The food arrived. He answered the door as they brought in the food and took the dinner dishes away.
"So, what do you want to do today, besides that?" She asked and took a sip of juice.
"Whatever you want," he replied and wiggled his eyebrows.
"Come on, Clark, why don't we spend the day on the beach. You can swim right?"
"Of course, I can swim, but I would rather swim in the pool not in the ocean."
"Oh, I agree, you just never know," she agreed, and ate the rest of her breakfast. "That was delicious. I was hungry. We do seem to work up an appetite."
"Are you complaining?" She only smiled at his look. "I didn't think so. Let's get changed; I'm ready for a swim."
"Me too," she said. They changed with cover-ups, a beach bag, a few snacks, bottled water, beach towels and headed out.
They managed to get a cabana to block the sun and ordered drinks and relaxed for a while. The pool was crowded; they stayed on the beach until the pool thinned out a little.
"This is heaven," Lois said as she closed her eyes, and sipped her non-alcoholic drink. Warm breezes cooled her skin.
"Yes, it is," Clark agreed.
A little while later, Lois removed her glasses and watched her husband for a minute. "Honey, I always wondered why but where you got the idea to pretend to be someone else when you called me and disguised your voice?"
He frowned. "I never told you why I did it?" He asked but he would have remembered if he had done it, but the memory is not there.
"No, you never did," she replied.
"Well, it came to me after you disappeared and I couldn't find you. You went missing for several weeks."
"Oh, I see; was that when I traveled to the future?"
"Yes, and after you came back, I decided to keep an eye on you by pretending to be the Blur. I could call you, talk to you, and ask questions about your work and." He stopped when she sat up straighter and took off her glasses. Confused, he asked. "What is it?"
"Clark, all our talks over the phone, my heart became conflicted about you and the Blur. I fell for him and when you told me the truth, although I was hurt, my love for you, Clark, finally all of it came together in my mind."
"I'm sorry, Lois, for hurting you that way, but at the time, it felt like the perfect solution." She still looked confused. "Lois, I know looking back, it was deceitful but I could not tell you the truth. That secret put people in danger, they… die, leave me, lose their minds, or any number of devastating occurrences and I could not put you through that; I couldn't do it. Do you understand?"
"Yes, I do understand. The fact that you are an alien," she lowered her voice, "and yes that secret is dangerous, and you wanted to protect me."
"Yes, I always want to protect you. I couldn't lose you; I couldn't."
She took his hand as they lay back down then she touched his cheek. She leaned over and kissed him sweetly. "And I love you for taking such loving care of me."
He smiled. "I love you too." He leaned up. "The pool looks clear; it is lunch time."
"Ok, let's go now." They grabbed their towels and their things and headed over and took a swim. It was cool and very relaxing.
On their backs in the pool, they swam for about half an hour. The crowds slowly returned, they headed back to their room and decided to go out for dinner for a change.
Lois is wearing her new jewelry pieces and dressed for the evening, a restaurant in the resort, and ate there; it was nice and the food was good. A small dance floor and they danced which they never have time to do, not since the night in the barn; a night they would never forget.
Now back in their room, headed to the balcony and watched the sun go down.
"I'm tired; can we call it a night?" Lois asked and headed back inside.
He frowned. "You have been sleeping a lot in the past few weeks. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Clark, only a little tired," she replied and pulled out her nightgown.
He followed her and pulled out his sleeping trousers.
Now they climbed into bed and she turned off the lights; he did the same on his side of the bed.
They turned to each other and kissed goodnight. Clark was usually in the mood but Lois is close to him but she was obviously sleepy and so he let her rest. An hour later, she is fast asleep. He watched her for minutes and decided to listen. It was 10pm and the only noises were the ocean waters lapping against the shore and a television next door. He closed his eyes and pushed away all the noises in his head but then he heard the loud and steady heartbeat besides his wife. He thought he imagined it, but there it is again.
He lay there still unbelieving, but Lois must have sensed him watching her, then she opened her eyes. "Clark, what is it; why are you staring at me like that?"
He blinked. "It's nothing; go back to sleep."
She snuggled close and closed her eyes again, then she went back to sleep. He closed his eyes believing that it's true. Lois is pregnant. A blinding smile lit up his face and pulled her closer. She did not wake up then murmured his name and went back to sleep.
Morning came and they are both still in bed. Lois left the bed and headed to the bathroom. She seemed in a hurry, then it happened; she threw up.
He rushed inside to help her, gathered a towel wet it and held her head hair and wiped her forehead with the small towel. "It will be over soon. There, there," he whispered and let her finish. In a minute, it was over.
She sat back on her heels. "I'm sorry about that; I was going to tell you before our trip, but everything was crazy."
"It's okay, honey, I heard the heartbeat last night."
"You did?" She asked surprised.
"Yes, I did. How far along are you; have you seen a doctor yet?"
"I'm several months, I think. Yes, I saw a doctor only to get vitamins and set up future appointments." She paused. "Are you mad?"
"No, of course not. Why would I be mad?"
"Well, keeping secrets is kind of a big deal with us and I felt bad for not telling you."
"This one would reveal itself sooner rather than later." He smiled and pulled her close. "Let's get you cleaned up. Let me know when you're ready to eat something."
"I will, but right now, I need to brush my teeth and rinse out my mouth."
"Okay, I'll leave you to it."
"Thanks, Clark; I'll be out in the minute."
He closed the door, leaned against it, and thought of them as parents. He never let himself believe it would ever happen but now here they are. In eight months or so, they will be parents. He shook his head but then the tears happened surprising him, but he let them fall. He was happy, genuinely happy about it. He wiped them away with the back of his hand.
"Hey, you, are you okay?" She sat beside him; he pulled her close.
"I'm perfect and so are you," he replied raised her chin and kissed her sweetly tasting mouthwash. She felt him silently laughing.
"It's the best I could do under the circumstances," she said but she was chuckling to herself. "Okay, what are our plans for today?"
"How does sleeping sound?"
She shook her head. "Perfect."
They both smiled in total agreement.
The end!

A/N: When I found this WIP, it was only 350 words ending in the middle of a sentence. I had no idea what I had in mind, because I didn't remember it at all, only the beginning of a crazy mixed-up honeymoon. Now it's finished and I hope you enjoyed it. Reviews are love.
