Hello there everyone, welcome to a story idea that's been plaguing my mind since a dream I had. The moment I woke up I had to write it. Now I don't know what this will be like as I don't actually have a plan for this, but I just wanted to get it out here in the world of writing and see what happens.

Chapter 1: Secret's Unveiled

Yang was on a mission!

As she rounded a corner, she poked her head out from the side of a building to see her sister still happily walking without a care in the world.

She narrowed and frowned.

For the past few days, Ruby has been acting strange and Yang was determined to find out why.

Now Yang had never considered herself a stalker or a nosey nancy. But when this sort of thing involved her baby sister, well, even her curiosity was skyrocketing. How could it not when her sister had been acting suspicious for the past few days.

Leaving school quickly. Sneaking out the house. Coming home late and trying to brush it off with horribly made excuses that made Yang laugh.

Of course, she would be curious after that!

Plus, her baby sister was never good at lying or keeping anything from her. Her poker face was nonexistent. Every time she tried, she would always shuffle her feet over each other and stutter like no tomorrow.

Yang almost felt disappointed in her sister's terrible methods. She could have at least tried better like her. When it comes to sneaking out and giving quality, white lies, well, Yang considered herself the queen.

Yang quickly ducked behind another building. Her sister still hasn't noticed anything and Yang rolled her eyes.

Honestly, a thief or kidnapper would have no problem targeting her with just how oblivious she was.

It wasn't even hard to spot Ruby bolting out of the school just as the final bell rang. Their last-period classes were, quite literally, adjacent to one another.

While she may have been thwarted the past few times from practice, her friends, and her job. However, Yang didn't hesitate for a second in following her sister this time.

Enough was enough. Today would be the day Yang Xiao Long gets her answers!

She followed her little sister into the suburbs of their area. She made no attempt to turn any corners that would lead her home. Yang found it strangely coincidental how whatever Ruby was up to, it was happening close by. Moreover, it always seemed to happen when she was busy.

Yang knew she would get an earful from the girls about skipping volleyball practice but this was a family emergency!

Sort of…

She shook her head as a thousand different thoughts ran through her mind just as she saw Ruby enter a corner store.

She followed inside and watched like a hawk as her little sister bought several bags of chips and soda before stuffing them into her bag.

Yang ignored all the odd looks she got from customers and employees alike as she stayed on Ruby's trail as she left.

Now she was just leaning on a wall in the middle of a long, narrow, alley in between two streets. Yang quickly scooted closer behind a dumpster and peered out with narrowed eyes.

Ruby was too busy to notice her as she silently headbanged to the music playing from her headphones with her eyes closed.

What are you doing Ruby? What are you up to? What's going on? Why are you just standing there?!

She contemplated walking out and announcing herself before suddenly one of her questions was answered and saw someone turn the corner into the alley.

Her sister noticed this and quickly pulled off her headphones and grinned.

"Hey, Ren!" She beamed and ran up to the boy.

Ren? Yang thought as she watched the two carefully. Isn't that the quiet guy in my history class? I thought his name was… Lee? Lei?Whatever! Why is he here? Her eyes bulged. AND WHY IS RUBY HUGGING HIM?!

Yang gripped the side of the dumpster as she witnessed this long-haired pretty boy dressed in all black, put his hands around her little sister's waist and gently pull her to him.

Yang gripped the dumpster even harder when she saw how Ruby sighed and nuzzled into his chest.

What the hell is going on?! Who is he?! What is their relationship?! Is… is that her boyfriend?! Her secret boyfriend?! Oh, gods! When did Ruby get a boyfriend?! And a hot one at that?! What do I do?! How long have they been going out?! No, how did she even get a guy like him anyway?! She's the embodiment of socially awkward! I'm the confident one here! I have a smoking hot body! So how did she get a boyfriend before - wait, no! Not the time to get jealous! Ugh!

As Yang lost herself in her own thoughts she barely noticed the two talking quietly as they exited the plane through the path the boy came from. She quickly trailed behind, trying desperately to hear anything of what they were saying.

"So it's all set, Ren?" Ruby asked.

"Yes," The boy nodded, "I set it up just as you requested."

"Eeee! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ren!" Ruby tackled the boy into another hug. Ren chuckled softly and patted her on the shoulder. "You really are amazing! I'm lucky to have you!"

Yang gritted her teeth as she slowly dragged her fingers down the sides of her face. "Do you have to rub your happiness in my face, sis?!" She growled as she ducked behind another wall.

"So~ was it hard to make your excuse?" Ruby asked. "Does Nora suspect anything?"

Yang poked her head out. Nora?

She pondered for a moment, muttering the name under her breath then snapped her finger. That was the orange-haired girl in her gym class. Come to think of it, she'd seen that girl a couple of times around that guy and they seemed really close, like her sis-

Her eyes widened. Oh hell no… he better not be what I think he is!

"Not at all," Ren replied and smiled. "I told her I had an important errand to do and promised to make her some pancakes as an apology."

Ruby giggled. "Typical Nora! So… she really doesn't suspect a thing? About…us?"

Ren shook his head, "She hasn't the slightest clue."

Ruby nudged the taller boy, "Good!"

"I knew it!"

"Did you hear something?" Ruby asked and glanced behind them.

"No," Ren frowned, "did you?"

Yang broke out into a cold sweat as she kept still with her hands clapped over her mouth behind the wall.

Ruby hummed as she scratched the back of her head, "Don't now. For a second I could have sworn… ah never mind!" She shook her head. "It was probably just my imagination. I swear all this sneaking around really gets you paranoid you know?"

Ren nodded. "Quite so. Though I will admit, I would rather people not find out about this."

"Tell me about it!" Ruby agreed, "I mean this is our thing! Why should we tell anyone?! I know, for a fact, that my sister would flip if she found out about this!"

Ohoho… you got that right sis! Yang fumed. Honestly, I thought I did a good job in raising you! But instead, I find you not only dating a boy behind my back but a cheater no less! And worst of all, you're ok with it!' Yang felt the tears of disappointment threaten to fall as she slapped her forehead. 'Where did I go wrong?! My sweet, innocent, baby sister is now a homewrecker! I knew that damn music of hers was setting her up for bad shit! I knew I should have coddled her more the second she started wearing all black! Ugh, what am I gonna do?!

As Ruby and Ren continued on their merry way, Yang could hear their conversation drift onto various different topics that didn't seem relevant. At least not until the boy received a text on his scroll.

"Adam just messaged me. He says he's waiting by the noodle house."

Yang quirked an eyebrow. Adam?

"Sweet, let's hurry then!" Ruby grabbed the boy and dragged his arm and dragged him along.

Yang quickly followed behind as she tried to remember ever hearing of an Adam before. His name sounded familiar, but then again it was a common name and there were several of them in her class.

Being so popular among the juniors in high school meant she maybe even met this Adam. But then again, she never really talked to this Ren guy before so who knew.

Her eyes peeked from her hiding spot as she witnessed her sister and her… "boyfriend", Yang shuddered, heading towards the noodle house that Ren mentioned.

There her eyes widened as the two approached the lone figure leaning against the wall of the restaurant.

"No. fucking. way."

A faint blush crept onto Yang's cheeks.

This wasn't any Adam from her class, but rather the Adam Taurus of the senior class. Yang felt her heart skip a beat.

Adam Taurus. One of the coolest, most mysterious, guys in the whole school. His spikey crimson hair, his all-black outfits, and that thin, tough scar running down his left eye were enough to swoon any girl he looked at.

Yang never had a chance to talk with the beefcake. In fact, she never saw talked much unless it was to that stepsister of his. Or so she thought now watching this interaction.

She was completely baffled when Ruby ran up and embraced him just as enthusiastically as she did to Ren.

If Yang was honest, it looked like some weird reunion of a secret goth club.

Adam said something to the young girl and gently shoved her off as he patted her head before greeting Ren.

The three exchanged some more words that Yang could not hear before the Faunus motioned for them to follow.

Naturally, Yang hightailed it behind them as they walked several blocks away.

Her curiosity was now the highest it's ever been as she watched them arrive at a relatively large two-story house.

The three walked along the side path towards the back and Yang hesitated. On one hand, she desperately wanted to know what was going on. But on the other, she was worried that she would be trespassing and perhaps even see something she wasn't going to like.

Her cheeks reddened at the sudden perverted scenarios flooding her mind. She slapped herself, bit her lip, and growled in frustration before jogging down the side of the house.

She managed to catch up just in time to see the three of them enter a large, well-built building that looked more like a mini house.

Yang glanced around to make sure the coast was clear and slowly approached. She knew better than to try the door and heard muffled talking inside.

She quickly scanned around and saw some narrow side windows hanging above the walls with a pile of firewood underneath. She smirked and slowly – but tentatively – climbed up and peered inside.

The first thing Yang noticed was that it wasn't just Ruby, Ren, and Adam inside. There were two others, both girls.

Yang instantly recognized the two as Blake Belladonna - Adam's stepsister - and Emerald Sustrai, a glasses-wearing loner who always had a book in hand.

As surprising as it was to see this unlikely group together, she was equally surprised to see them each bearing an instrument.

Adam had a guitar strapped to his back as he finished setting up a microphone stand.

Blake and Emerald stood side to side, talking with one another as they held their own guitars around their waist.

Ren stood by himself as he quietly tuned some strings on what Yang could guess was a bass guitar.

And behind them all, what shocked Yang the most, was her little sister happily twirling a drumstick between her fingers as she sat in front of a large drumset.

"You guys ready?" Adam asked.

Ren nodded and took his position in front of his own mic stand. Blake did the same but Emerald remained in place.

"What's up?" Blake turned to her.

"Are you sure you want me to do this?"

Blake smiled a little and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it. We already told you it's cool."

Emerald smiled but still looked uncertain. "Yeah, but, I'm not sure how if it will work out."

"We won't know until we try," Adam said and moved his guitar into position. "Let's take it from the top and go from there. Ok?"

Emerald nodded and moved closer to the last mic stand.

Adam smirked. "Alright. Recording in progress. Mic checks out. Instruments ready. Let's rock! This song is called, "I Will Not Bow!" (Breaking Benjamin)

He turned and nodded to Ruby who grinned and tapped her drumsticks together as Adam and Ren inhaled a deep breath.

Adam & Ren:

~FALL~

On que, the rest of the band followed as each played and moved to the beat they created together. Yang jumped and nearly fell to the ground had she not caught herself on the window pane.

She stared at the group and her jaw dropped.

'Holy shit!'

Adam:

~Now the dark begins to rise~

~Save your breath it's~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~ far from over~

Adam:

~Leave the lost and dead behind~

~Now's your chance~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~to run for cover~

Adam:

~I don't want to change the world~

~I just want to~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~ leave it colder~

Adam:

~Light the fuse and burn it up~

~Take the path that~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~leads to nowhere~

Adam:

~All is lost again~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~but I'm not giving in~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~I will not bow, I will not break~

~I will shut the world away~

~I will not fall, I will not fade~

~I will take your breath away~

Adam:

~Now the dark is~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~ taking over~

Adam:

~Show me where forever dies~

~Take the fall and~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~ run to heaven~

Adam:

~All is lost again, but I'm not giving in~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~I will not bow, I will not break~

~I will shut the world away~

~I will not fall, I will not fade~

~I will take your breath away~

~And I'll survive, paranoid~

~I have lost the will to change~

~And I am not proud, cold-blooded, fake~

~I will shut the world away~

Ren:

~I WILL NOT~

That low, demonic scream caught Yang off guard as Emerald began to play a solo on her guitar.

Ren had always appeared to be so quiet and calm. Even sensitive looking if she had to admit.

But seeing him like this, headbanging and unleashing such an inhuman scream while playing aggressively was so unworldly and yet… amazing.

As Emerald's solo ended, Yang got an idea and pulled her scroll out.

Adam:

~I will not bow, I will not break~

Adam, Ren, Emerald:

~I will shut the world away~

~I will not fall, I will not fade~

~I will take your breath away~

~And I'll survive, paranoid~

~I have lost the will to change~

~ And I am not proud, cold-blooded, fake~

~ I will shut the world away~

Adam and Ren:

~ FALL! ~

As the song ended with the last few notes, the group fell silent as they all glanced around and smiled at one another.

"That was awesome!" Ruby then cheered as she jumped from her seat and ran around and high-fived a smiling Ren.

"The solo blended well with the mix," Blake commented as sat down on a couch with a cup of tea.

"Thanks…" Emerald smiled then turned to Adam. "You sure I should still be on backup vocals? I'm happy I'm playing lead but I still think it sounds better with just you and Ren."

Ren frowned, "I think you did well. It adds another range of tone, and you added a dynamic to our tones."

"Don't worry about it, Em." Adam said. "We can change things up as we go along." She nodded as Adam then glanced around the room. "Good work everyone. It took some time but we finally nailed it."

"Yeah!" Ruby cried and raised her hands up to form devil horns. "We are so metal!"

"Technically, we are hard rock." Ren corrected and patted Ruby's head as she pouted. "But I must say, it was amazing."

"No complaints from me." Blake shrugged.

"It was great," Emerald said.

"Yeah," Adam nodded. "And I think our little guest enjoyed it as well."

All eyes turned to him.

"Guest?!" Ruby asked. "What?"

"You can come out now!" Adam turned to the door, "You have until the count of three!"

No one responded and everyone curiously looked at one another.

"Alright! So be it! Just know when I say three, I'm calling the cops! One, two-"

"No, no, no! No need for that! I'm, uh, coming…"

Slowly the door started to open as all watched a red-faced Yang slowly shuffle her way in. She looked as awkward as she moved. Eyes to the ground. Rubbing her arm. Shuffling her feet.

"Y-Yang?!" Ruby then called. "What are you doing here!"

The blonde girl flinched and forced a smile onto her lips as she waved. "Y-Yo sis! So…this is what you were up to huh?! At least it's not an orgy! Huh?!"

Aside from the appalling looks the others gave her, Ruby gritted her teeth as a blush formed on her face.

"God damn it, Yang!"
