Chapter 2: Beacon Academy
An hour left before it's time. Shisui thought while looking at the scroll Ozpin gifted him. He didn't need to pack anything because everything he had was on his person already. I should look into getting more clothes soon. Hopefully, he could get his clan's insignia on his clothes as well. Something I should talk with Ozpin about in the future. Shisui then thought about his experience in Remnant thus far. Not bad for the first day I'll say. Feels like it's gonna get even better. He then remembered something the unknown person he met said. He put one hand over his right eye. He mentioned something about an upgrade to my eyes. Could this be the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan? He wondered. Shisui heard many stories about the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan from some of his elder clan members. He also heard what it would take to awaken it. Fortunately, if what he thought was true, that didn't apply to him. I'll look into it later. He supposed. Shisui noticed time winding down and decided to head to the bullhead.
At first, Ruby thought coming to Beacon Academy was gonna be exciting, adventurous, exhilarating, and others, but as she found herself in the crushing hug of her sister she began to have doubts. "Can you stopp?" A strained Ruby begged Yang.
"Whoops sorry!" Said Yang, releasing her. "I'm just so happy and proud that you're here. Everyone's gonna think you're the bee's knees!" She excitedly said.
"I don't wanna be the bee's knees okay. I don't wanna be any kind of knees. I just wanna be a normal girl with normal knees." An unenthusiastic Ruby replied. Ruby then looked past Yang at a familiar red and black fan on a black high-collared shirt. "Oh look, there's Shisui. Hey, Shisui over here!" She called out to him.
Huh? Shisui thought as he turned to see Ruby calling out to him. Oh, it's Ruby. He then approached her and the blonde woman standing next to her. "Yo Ruby, how's everything holding so far?" A smiling Shisui asked.
"My my Rubes you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend." Said a teasing and smirking Yang.
Wait what? Thought Shisui with a blush beginning to form on his face.
"Awe look, he's blushing. He must like you." Yang egged on.
A silent red-faced Ruby went up to Yang and punched her hard in the gut. "S-Sorry about that S-Shisui she can g-get out of hand sometimes. This is my sister Yang Xiao Long."
Ahem. "Nah you're good. Nice to meet you, Yang." Replied Shisui.
Yang held her stomach as she slightly glared at Ruby. "Yeah you too, so when did you and Ruby meet?" She asked.
Ruby answered her. "Oh! We met at that dust store robbery I talked to you about. At the end of it, Ozpin entered us both into Beacon."
"Ooo Really? So you must be strong huh Shisui?" Questioned an eager Yang.
Shisui rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, I am." He responded.
"You owe me a match then, so we can see if you're lying or not." A now zealous Yang proposed with her hand out.
You're in for a surprise Yang. "Don't go crying to Ruby when you lose." He shook her hand with a competitive smirk on his face.
Ruby laughed at the two. A hologram of a blonde-haired woman then appeared.
"Hello and welcome to Beacon." She said.
"Who's that?" Questioned Yang.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch." The now name Glynda said. "You are among the privileged few who have been selected to attend Beacon Academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace and as future huntresses and huntsmen, it is your duty to uphold it. You all have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and keys to protect our world." The hologram of Glynda then disappeared.
"Oh wow look!" Ruby went to the window and looked out. "You can see Signal from up here." Said Ruby.
"I guess home isn't too far after all. Beacon's our new home now though," Yang told her.
And mine too. Thought Shisui while looking out towards Vale. Vale is way more advanced and different than back in the village. He hoped Ozpin would allow them to go to Vale because he wanted to explore it one day.
The bullhead then began to land at Beacon Academy and a hatch opened to let everyone out.
"Wooow." Ruby and Yang said in unison.
"Yeah, that's the right word for it." Said an awed Shisui. I've never seen any place like this. He thought in fascination.
Ruby looked at the many various weapons and entered 'chibi mode.' "Ooo look, that kid has a collapsible staff and she has a fire sword!"
She was about to float away until Yang pulled her back. "Easy there Rubes, they're just weapons."
Ruby looked at Yang betrayed. "Just weapons? They're an extension of ourselves, they're part of us right Shisui?" Said Ruby looking towards Shisui for backup.
"Why of course. My tanto has gotten me out of many bad situations." Responded Shisui.
"See Yang I told you." Said Ruby with a victorious smile.
"Whatevs. I'll catch you guys later. My friends are here. Bye!" Said Yang zooming past Ruby.
"Wait, are we supposed to go to our dorms? Where are our dorms? I don't know what I'm doooiinng." Said Ruby unknowingly about to fall on someone's luggage.
Shisui put his hand on her shoulder to stop her. "Careful Ruby. Someone's luggage is behind you." He told her.
Ruby got herself back together. "Oh, thanks Shisui. That could've ended badly." Said a grateful Ruby. "Do you know where we're supposed to head to?" The Rose questioned.
"I have no idea. Maybe she can help." Said Shisui, noticing a white-haired girl approaching them. "Excuse me, do you know the place everyone is supposed to go to?" Shisui asked her.
The girl crossed her arms. "Hymp it's the ballroom. That's the place." She told them.
"Oh, we really appreciate it uh-" Ruby started.
"Weiss, Weiss Schnee." Said Weiss while curtsying.
"Weiss. By the way, my name is Ruby Rose and he's Shisui Uchiha." Said Ruby.
Weiss nodded. "Pleasure meeting you both. I'll be on my way then." Said Weiss walking off, her butlers in tow.
"It's good you didn't fall on her luggage. I can tell she's the arrogant spoiled type." Said Shisui, beginning to walk to the ballroom.
"Wait really? How can you tell?" Ruby questioned, following after him.
"I'm a pretty good judge of character Ruby and she had the whiff of a spoiled heiress." Shisui responded.
"Hey, you guys heading to the right spot?" A new voice sounded beside them. They saw a tall blonde-haired guy with armor on and a shield at his waist. "I'm Jaune Arc." Jaune said.
"I'm Shisui Uchiha and she's Ruby Rose. Yes we are heading to the ballroom." Shisui answered him.
"Wait, aren't you the guy who threw up on the ship?" Ruby chuckled at him.
Jaune scratched his head. "Yeaah that was me, unfortunately."
Ruby chuckled again. "Well, your new name's vomitboy." She said.
A very amused Shisui patted Jaune on the back. "Get used to it."
"Soo I got this thing." Ruby unsheathed Crescent Rose.
"Whoa is that a scythe?" A surprised Jaune asked.
"It's also a customizable high-impact sniper rifle." Ruby said.
"A whaa?" A confused Jaune asked.
"It's also a gun. Shisui, can we see your weapon?" Ruby asked with puppy eyes.
Shisui chuckled. The way Ruby looked at him now reminded him of the times Itachi would look the same way when he asked to train with him. "Yeah sure." He unsheathed his tanto. "This is my tanto. It goes well with my fighting style and I can infuse my aura with it to do offensive attacks. I'm actually thinking about getting another one."
"Ooo really? Can I help you with making it?" A hopeful Ruby asked him.
Shisui smiled. "Of course." He patted her on the head and Ruby slightly blushed. "Well, what about you Jaune. What's your weapon?"
"Oh uh, I got this sword." Jaune unsheathed his longsword. "And I got a shield too." He took out his shield.
"Ooo cool what do they do?" An intrigued Ruby asked.
"Well the shield gets smaller, so when I get tired of carrying it I can just put it away." Replied Jaune.
"Wait but wouldn't it still weigh the same?" Questioned Shisui.
"Yeah. My great great grandfather actually used this sword to fight in the war." Said Jaune.
"Well, I like it. There's not a lot of appreciation for the classics these days." Said Ruby.
The group found themselves coming up into the ballroom.
"Ruby over here! I saved you a spot! Hey Shisui!" The group noticed Yang calling Ruby over.
"Well bye Shisui and Jaune! Thanks for watching over me, Shisui!" She offered him a beaming smile before she left.
"Well, at least I still got you here with me Shisui." Said Jaune before both of them walked over to an open spot. "So about you and Ruby.." Jaune started.
"Hm, what about us?" A confused Shisui asked.
"You guys a couple? You both seem to be very close." Jaune bluntly asked.
Shisui slightly blushed. "Nah, I just met her recently. Why do you ask?"
"Oh don't worry, I was just wondering. I got my eyes on snow angel over there." Jaune gestured towards Weiss.
"Yeah, good luck with that." Shisui and Jaune then noticed Ozpin walk upon the stage.
"I'll keep this brief. You all have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills. When you are finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people, but I look amongst you and see wasted energy. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but knowledge can only carry you so far.. It is up to you to take the first step." Ozpin then left after. Professor Goodwitch came to the mic.
"You all will gather in the ballroom tonight tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready and you're dismissed." She then left.
"Wow, that was something huh Shisui?" Said Jaune, as he and Shisui were heading to get changed into night clothes.
"Indeed it was." Shisui replied. Ozpin is hiding something. He thought. Shisui first noticed it when they first met. It was in his words and the way he talked. Especially when he entered him and Ruby into Beacon. He saw their skill and power and wanted to use them to fight against something or someone. He hoped he didn't have to deal with another Danzo because he would end things quickly if that was the case. "I can't wait for tomorrow though. What about you?" He asked Jaune.
"Y-Yeah tomorrow. Can't wait for it either." An anxious and nervous Jaune said.
Shisui glanced towards Jaune. As I expected, he's not a good fighter at all. It was in his stance, the way he held his sword and shield. The signs were obvious to Shisui. "Wait...what are you wearing?" Said Shisui while trying hard not to laugh at the awful jumpsuit Jaune currently had on.
"Oh this? I call this the Jaune ladykiller special. I know I know, don't be jealous." An assured Jaune answered.
"Trust me I'm not." A chuckling Shisui then put his weapon in his locker. He then took off his shirt and ninja sandals. "I'm heading back to the ballroom now. Catch you later Jaune." He waved as he left.
"It's like a big slumber party!" Started Yang.
"I don't think Dad would approve of the boys though." Replied Ruby.
"I know I do." A sultry Yang said while staring at the boys without shirts. She then saw Jaune and looked away in disgust. "What's that?" She asked Ruby.
"A letter to the gang back at signal." Ruby answered her. "I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going."
"Awwee that's so sweet and cuutee." Yang teased.
"Shut up!" Ruby threw a pillow at her. "I didn't get to take my friends with me to school. It's weird not knowing anyone here."
"Wow, Ruby I'm hurt. I thought we were getting along nicely." Said Shisui approaching, feigning a sad face.
Ruby looked up at Shisui and saw he was without a shirt. "O-Oh wow Shisui! When d-did you get here?" A hard blush was making its way to her face.
Yang whistled and smirked. "Wow Shisui, nice bod. I would've never guessed."
"Thanks Yang and I just got here now actually. So we're not friends Ruby?" He continued with the act.
"Wha?! Of course, we are! I was just rambling." A flushed Ruby responded.
Shisui chuckled. "Good to know. So you girls getting ready for tomorrow?" He asked.
"Yeah, I was just telling Rubes here about making friends." Yang answered.
"Well I've got you, Shisui, Weiss and Jaune! That should be enough for now right?" Ruby wondered.
"Of course not, there are still many friends to be made." Said Yang. The trio then noticed a candle light being lit up. "And speaking of friends. Let's go meet one now!" Yang grabbed Ruby's hand and pulled her in the direction of the girl. Shisui shook his head with a smile and followed after them.
"Why hello there!" Said Yang.
"Hello? What can I do for you all?" The girl asked, looking up from her book.
"Oh, we just wanted to meet you. My name's Yang. She's my younger sister Ruby, and he's Shisui." She gestured towards each of them. "What's your name?" She asked.
"Blake." The now named Blake then looked back at her book.
Shisui noticed the subtle twitch in Blake's bow instantly. She's a Faunus, but I wonder what kind? He thought.
"What's it about?" Questioned Ruby referring to Blake's book.
"Huh?" Blake looked up from her book again.
"Your book. Does it have a name?" Ruby asked.
"It's about a man with two souls. Each fighting for control of his body." Blake Replied.
"Sounds like a fascinating book." Said Shisui.
"It's fascinating so far at least." Said Blake.
"I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Different stories of heroes and monsters. They're one of the reasons I want to be a huntress." Said a reminiscing Ruby.
"Why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?" Blake asked.
"I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books. Someone who fought for what is right and who protects people who can't protect themselves." responded Ruby.
"It's great you're thinking like that Ruby. With that mindset, you're already a hero in my books." A smiling Shisui started. His face then turned sympathetic. "It's too bad that in the real world reaching true peace is unattainable with so many opposing variables."
Ruby, Yang, and Blake gained a confused curious expression. "How do you know Shisui?" Asked an inquisitive Ruby.
Shisui sighed and shook his head. "Experience." He replied.
"You all are awfully noisy. There are some people who are trying to sleep." An approaching Weiss said.
"She's right. I'll see you guys later." Shisui waved goodbye and went to his sleeping bag. The others soon followed after him in their directions.
As he walked off Blake gave a curious look towards his way. Could he understand it? The pain of trying to reach peace, but others not accepting the advance? She thought in intrigue.
-Cutscene-
Shisui found himself in the locker room getting himself prepared for the initiation. He looked himself up and down. I'm all set. He thought. It was almost time for the initiation to start. He looked to his left and saw Weiss with an unfamiliar redhead woman. Might as well introduce myself. He thought with a shrug before walking over to the two.
"So Pyrrha have you given any thought to who's the team you would like to be on? I'm sure everyone would like to be on your team." Weiss asked.
"I'm not quite sure. I was letting the chips fall where they may." Pyrrha answered.
"Well I was thinking maybe me and you could be on a team together." Weiss said.
"Well, that would be nice." Pyrrha said with a smile. Pyrrha and Weiss then saw Shisui approaching.
"Yo Weiss! Who's your friend there?" Shisui asked, stopping in front of them.
"How come you don't know her? She's Pyrrha Nikos. She graduated at the top of her class at Sanctum, won the Mistral Regional Tournament 4 years in a row, and is on every Pumpkin Pete's cereal box!" Said Weiss in exasperation.
"Yeaah, I have never heard of any of those things. Thanks for the tip though Weiss! Nice to meet you Pyrrha. My name's Shisui Uchiha." A smiling Shisui said with his hand out.
Pyrrha almost couldn't hold in her excitement. Finally at last! She thought. Someone who didn't know her and didn't care about her status. An eager Pyrrha shook his hand. "Nice to meet you also Shisui. I hope we can be good friends in the future!" She said in exhilaration.
"Me too. Are you both ready for the initiation?" He asked.
"Hymp, as ready as can be. Pyrrha and I are going to be teammates." Weiss said while smirking arrogantly.
"You sure you want to deal with her, Pyrrha? She can be a pain in the ass sometimes." Shisui said with a smirk on his face.
Pyrrha laughed a bit and Weiss had a livid expression on her face. "W-Why you!" Weiss put her hand on her weapon.
"Catch you guys later!" Shisui then used the Body Flicker to go to the initiation's starting point.
"Shisui!" Weiss then angrily stomped her way after him. Pyrrha laughed and followed after her.
-Cutscene-
"For years you have trained to be warriors and today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Said Ozpin.
"Now I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well each of you will be given teammates today." Professor Goodwitch said after him.
"These teammates will be here with you for the rest of your time at Beacon. It's in your best interest to be paired with someone you can work well with. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next 4 years." Said Ozpin.
It's just like the Chunin Exams, but different at the same time. This should be fun. Shisui thought with an eager smirk. It's a good thing he didn't have a problem being partnered with whoever. As long as they weren't a prick, he could live through it.
"After you've partnered up, make your way to the Northern end of the forest. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die. You will be monitored and graded, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will grade you appropriately after. Are there any questions?" Questioned Ozpin.
"Y-Yeah uh sir?" A nervous Jaune started.
"Good. Now, take your positions." Said Ozpin, ignoring Jaune.
Shisui activated his Sharingan and scanned his surroundings. He could see the temple far ahead. He guessed many Grimm were hidden in the trees also. He breathed in a deep breath then exhaled. Here goes nothing. He thought before he got launched into the forest.
Shisui stuck a Kunai with ninja wire to a tree to swing himself down to the forest floor.
HEEEeeee! He could hear Jaune's voice as he was launched soon after him. Well he's having f-Shisui then gained a piercing cold look to his face as he looked around him into the forest. He could see many pairs of red eyes looking back at him. Grimm. Didn't take them long huh? Seems almost like they were waiting for me. He thought as he unsheathed his tanto and got into a fighting stance. The Grimm began to come out one by one. A larger one with skeletal armor falling in the back. Beowolves and that must be the alpha in the back. Shisui tensed as he got ready.
ROOAARR! The alpha Beowolf bellowed. The smaller Beowolves then ran towards Shisui claws ready to viciously slice flesh.
"Don't underestimate the Uchiha! Fire Style: Body Blitz!" Fire chakra gathered on his tanto and Shisui spun at a lightning speed rate forming himself into a mini slicing fire tornado. The Grimm who charged him stood no chance as they were sliced into cauterized bits. He stopped the technique and looked at the alpha with a smirk. "C'mon that's all you got? I'm not even sweating."
ROOAR! The alpha angrily glared at him and charged Shisui like the younger Beowolves.
I see the weak points in its armor clearly with my Sharingan. This should do the trick. Thought Shisui before preparing his tanto. The alpha got in range. "There! Sever! Fire Style: Scorching Sword Piercer!" Fire chakra gathered on the tip of his tanto. Once he impacted with the alpha's chest it released outwards, leaving a huge gaping hole in the alpha's body. It started to disintegrate into ash afterwards.
Shisui looked over the disintegrating bodies of the Beowolves. So they do disintegrate after they're killed, interesting. Although, they are much weaker than what I thought they would be. He looked at the sun's position. I should catch up with the others. He then teleported in a Body Flicker.
From being enrolled early into Beacon Academy, to somehow gaining new friends, and to now this! Being pinned under a Nevermore's feather as she was about to die to the huge Deathstalker in front of her. Ruby didn't want to die; she still had many things she wanted to do. She felt tears in her eyes as she closed them preparing for her death. She could hear Yang in the background calling out to her, but it was too late.
-Cling! Crrrtt!-
Ruby could feel a warmness around her. I-I'm not dead? She opened her eyes to see Shisui standing in front of herwith the familiar glowing green rib cage protecting them. "Seems like I made it just in time. Fortunately, Weiss froze the stinger just in case." Said Shisui while glaring coldly at the Deathstalker.
Ruby could feel happiness and joy bubble in her gut." Shisui!"
