It's been a long time, hasn't it? I don't know how seriously I plan on taking this, but for some reason I feel like writing this as a bit of a tribute to not only FE7 but the Fire Emblem series as a whole. This is still my favorite video game series by a wide margin, and I figure that writing something after several years about my favorite characters in one of my favorite games of all time would be enjoyable. Let's see how this goes.

Disclaimer: I don't own Fire Emblem or any of the characters in this story. Nintendo and Intelligent Systems do and I'm just a longtime fan (it's been a while since I said this).

Raven scowled from the windowsill he was resting his arms on, his dark red eyes piercing into the horizon as sun was beginning to slowly descend in the sky. He and Lucius recently joined up with Eliwood's army only a few days ago after some persuasion from his younger sister Priscilla, but the army has opted to spend the few days after their successful retrieval of Castle Caelin resting in Badon. They would be at sea with Fargus and his crew for a while, so the lords thought it would be beneficial for their comrades to mentally prepare themselves for the lengthy journey.

Everyone seemed happy with this recreational period. Well, everyone except for Raven. The scarlet-haired mercenary only joined these clowns to settle his score with Hector and Ostia, not sit around in an inn while the clowns in the army pranced around the port doing whatever they pleased. If he had to listen to Sain's proposals of finding women in the port to court or Bartre's obnoxious insistence to read his grotesque writings, he felt that he would finally lose it. Thankfully for him, not everyone in the army was an idiot. He was genuinely happy to see his little sister alive and well, though he wanted to make sure that they only interacted in secret. Aside from her, Rebecca seemed to take a liking to him enough to seek him out for some conversation whenever possible. The green-haired archer girl was one of the few people that he felt he could somewhat be at ease around, especially when they both discussed another certain archer with brown hair…

Rolling his eyes, Raven began to recount the events from a couple of hours ago.

"I can't BELIEVE that idiot!" Rebecca fumed, slamming her fist into the table she and Raven sat at in the inn's dining room. "It's the first time I see him in years, and he's just as tactless and clueless as before! Does he not know how to talk to girls?!"

"Well, this IS Wil we're talking about. I may not have been around for long, but I know him well enough to say with certainty that he is nothing short of a moron," Raven responded, slowly sipping a glass of water. "He seems to have made you particularly upset."

The young archer sighed, putting her head into her hands. "We have this time to relax for once, so I wanted to just…you know…hang out with Wil in the port before we board the ship. But for some reason he keeps on avoiding me… I don't understand, Sir Raven… I didn't do anything wrong, did I?"

Raven set his glass down and crossed his arms. While he did not like prying into others' affairs since he thought it was more beneficial to be on at least neutral standing with most of the army, he had a bit of a soft spot for Rebecca. It probably had to do with the fact she was a bit younger than Priscilla and was the only other girl who he found himself talking to. "I don't think you did anything wrong," he replied. "Like I said, Wil's a moron. It's harder to get something ingrained into his thick skull than it is to read Bartre's manuscripts."

Rebecca tilted her head in confusion. "Bartre's manuscripts?"

"Er…never mind. The point of the matter is even though he's an idiot, he's not a bad guy. Whenever he bothers me enough to decide to talk to him, he sometimes talks about you and how glad he is to see that you're doing well."

The girl couldn't help but blush a bit hearing that. "H-He really said that? Ugh… why can't he just say that to my face instead of dodging me?"

The mercenary shrugged, sipping his water once more. "Can't say. Maybe you can get something out of him in time."

"I guess I'll do that," Rebecca agreed, giving Raven a warm smile. "Thank you, Sir Raven. I know we only met a few days ago, but you're such a pleasure to talk to. It's like you know what to say about everything… you're super reliable. I mean it!"

"I think I'm just good at dealing with teenage girls due to a certain someone," Raven mused in his mind before nodding at Rebecca. "Don't mention it. Let me know how it goes. I think we're going to be cooped up in this port for a couple more days, so you'll have time."

A knock on his room door brought him out from his thoughts followed by a soft voice from the other side. "Lord Brother? Are you free?"

The young man stood up promptly and made his way to the door so he could open it for his sister. "Priscilla. It's not like I'm doing anything right now, but you know how I feel about this. We need to minimize interactions with each other, don't you remember?" he told her sternly, yet with some softness in his tone.

Priscilla nodded understandingly and looked up at him, her emerald-green eyes glistening with admiration for the mercenary. "I know, Lord Brother, but I just… I can't help but have you on my mind all the time now that I'm with you again!" she earnestly told him. "I just wanted to know if it's possible if you could spend some time with me in Badon, but that would mean we would have a chance at being seen together…"

Raven frowned. He felt bad for his little sister, but his mission was an important one and he had to make sure that it was not jeopardized in any way. "Priscilla, remember what I told you."

"I know, Lord Brother, I know…" she sighed sadly. "It's…well…Serra told me there's always a beautiful sunset that one can gaze at from the pier and she also said that it's best if you can view it with a special someone… so I wanted to see if…"

Priscilla began to trail off and hid her reddening cheeks, clearly embarrassed to say the next part. As Raven looked down at her in confusion, a familiar (and unwelcome) voice could be heard down the hall.

"Man! That was a close call… Rebecca's really scary when she's angry, so I'm glad I managed to avoid her again…"

Raven grimaced. Wil.

"I don't think I have the courage to face her quite yet…" Wil sighed as he turned the corner. Once he did so, he noticed Raven and Priscilla standing nearby. "Ah! Senior Raven! Priscilla! I hope I didn't interrupt anything! I'm just musing to myself."

Priscilla bowed and gave Wil a small smile. Raven noted that she seemed to recover quickly from her earlier embarrassment. "Don't worry, Wil, you're not interrupting anything. I was just talking to Lord B- er, Raven, about meeting everyone downstairs for dinner soon."

"Good save, Priscilla," Raven praised inwardly. "Wil, what have I told you about calling me "Senior"? Clean your ears already."

Wil scratched the back of his head. "Aha, I guess it keeps slipping my mind! I have a tendency to have that happen."

"Believe me, I know," Raven snarked. "If that's all, I'm going to rest in my room a bit more before I head down to dinner."

"A-Ah, Lord B- I mean, Raven, hang on!" Priscilla protested as Raven turned his back to head back inside his room. "What about the pier?"

"Pier?" Wil piped up.

Raven blanched. Dealing with Priscilla was one thing, but dealing with Wil was another. Thinking quickly, he turned to the two. "Well, how about you just have Wil take you? If it's better to see it with someone, then Wil can escort you there."

Both Priscilla and Wil widened their eyes. "What?"

"I figure that might be the best way to go about it," Raven explained. "I know you're looking for someone to enjoy the sunset with, so you can always head down with this guy. I mean, it's not like it's my business after all."

As she opened her mouth in protest, the mercenary gave Priscilla a look indicating that she best not push it further. Minimize. Interactions.

Closing her mouth and nodding silently, Priscilla turned to the still-confused Wil and did her best to mask the hurt in her tone. "Wil, if you're not busy then…would you please go to the pier with me? The sunset is coming up and I really want to see it with someone."

Snapping back to reality, Wil looked down at the red-haired troubadour. Just what the heck is going on? He escaped from yet another tussle with Rebecca only to find himself in a new situation? There always seems to be some crazy event that he keeps finding himself in… but…

He looked into Priscilla's bright emerald eyes and noticed that they were gazing at him almost… pleadingly. He would feel like the biggest jerk ever if he refused such an innocent request, especially from an extremely kind person like Priscilla who has helped him with his injuries on multiple occasions.

Plus, that means he would have a good excuse to stay away from Rebecca. The answer was more than obvious.

"Sure, let's go spend some time at the pier, Priscilla!" Wil agreed, giving the younger girl his trademark cheery smile. "I just hope you'll think I'm good company."

Priscilla smiled back gently. "You're always a pleasure to be around, Wil, so I don't think you'll have to worry about that."

Wil's grin grew. He did not know what exactly was happening, but if it would make Priscilla enjoy herself, then he would happily entertain her. "That's good to hear. So, should we head out now? I think the sun is setting now so I want to make sure we get there to view it as much as we can."

"I-If that's fine with you, then yes please," Priscilla urged.

As the two turned to leave the hallway, Raven sighed in relief. He spectated their entire interaction and felt some strange sense of gratitude toward Wil. Well, he supposed that there was a first time for everything. Maybe he would be more patient with Wil the next time the archer would decide to bother him.

Feeling a small sense of accomplishment, the mercenary went back inside his room and closed his door before opting to rest on his bed. "Hmm. It seems that this might be an enjoyable evening for me after all," he told himself as he stared at the ceiling. "Priscilla can go enjoy the sunset, Wil's out of my hair, I think Lucius said earlier that he'd be learning more about the different types of magic with that Canas person, Bartre…well… I don't really care what he does, and Rebecca…"

Raven shot up straight from his bed at his sudden realization. Uh-oh.

"What have I done?" he cursed, quickly getting up and leaving his room. If he did not do something about this quick, then the biggest disaster in Badon would be bound to occur. As he hurried down the hallway, down the stairs, and entered the inn's dining room. He noticed Kent and Sain sitting together at a table with some mugs of ale and made his way to them.

"Ah, it's Raven!" Sain greeted, taking out a stack of cards. "Would you be up for a few games with me and Kent? Loser has to try and woo a lass in the town!"

"Sain, you might as well lose on purpose because you're the only one that would want to do that regardless of the game's result," Kent deadpanned, rolling his eyes at his companion. "Anyway, what brings you here, Raven? You seem a bit distressed."

"I'm just trying to find Wil, Priscilla, and Rebecca. Have you two seen any one of those three?" the mercenary asked. He had to make sure he kept his cool. After all, he did not want anyone to ask anything unnecessary.

Sain began to shuffle the deck of cards while looking up in thought. "I saw Rebecca not too long ago and she told me to get kicked by a horse after I tried to flirt with her, so I'm guessing she's not too happy about something… as for Wil and Lady Priscilla, Kent and I just saw those two head on out. Wil mentioned something about a sunset… I didn't think those two were involved! Come to think of it, they don't look like a bad pairing. I mean, I would've definitely made a move on Lady Priscilla first, but I'll have to give Wil some kudos for taking charge! Our star archer is moving on up!"

Raven could feel his eye twitch. Sain better hope that he does not cross his path once this war is over.

"Do you need them for something?" Kent asked in concern. "It's seemingly rare for you to be looking for others in this army."

"It's nothing," Raven quickly responded. "Thanks for the information."

With that, the mercenary hurried out from the inn and left the two cavaliers staring off after him. "Hmm," Sain hummed. "I have a feeling that we're going to witness a spectacle tonight. What do you think, Kent?"

The red cavalier looked at his green-clad partner and sighed. "Probably."
