Hi everyone! I just watched the Descendants movies and enjoyed them a whole lot, especially Harry and Uma together. However, as I searched for fanfictions about those too, I noticed that there were incredibly many fics with good ideas that were discontinued. That's why I decided to write my own one. It's nearly finished and I'll update the chapters regularly.
This is not a songfic, but I decided to base the first chapter on the Whats My Name scene because I thought it would be interesting to explore what the characters, mainly Harry, thought during that scene. After this chapter, the story won't be an exact retell of the movies anymore and by the third chapter, it will have a completely independant plotline.
Chapter 1
Harry Hook walked into Ursula's Fish and Chip Shoppe after finishing the job his captain had given him. He snatched some fish off a peasant lady and carried them into the shop to hand them over to Cook, not after putting his sword in the sword check barrel. He pushed another pirate out of the way, climbed over their crew's favourite table and switched the TV on, hungry after a long day of work. Before he could say something, Uma dropped a plate with fried fish in front of him. He gave her a short, thankful glance before taking a bite of his meal. That's when Uma realised who was on the TV, former villain kid Mal. Angrily, she grabbed something of his plate and threw it at the TV.
"Poser."
"Traitor!", Harry added and shoved some fries into his mouth before his captain could throw it. As the other pirates ignored her, Uma yelled at them and they began throwing their food at the TV. Harry sighed and threw the piece he had just wanted to eat. He was hungry, but priorities were priorities.
"Oh, I would love to wipe the smile of their faces. You know what I mean?" He licked some sauce off his middle finger. Uma shot a disgusted glance at the boy on her other side. "Gil. You wanna quit choking down yolks and get with the program?" Harry scrunched his face, Gil was probably on some high protein diet again because he wanted to rival his father in muscle. Gil gulped the yolk down.
"Yeah, what they said." He probably hadn't paid attention at all, but Uma didn't care. She put her hands on the table, swaying. "That little traitor. Who left us in the dark."
"Who turned her back on evil", Harry added and threw some fish into his mouth.
"Who said you weren't big or bad enough to be in tour gang." This was Gil, who just retrieved another plate of food from Cook. "Back when we were kids. Come on, you guys remember, she called her Shrimpy and the name just kind of…"
Harry wanted to walk up to him and beat his stupid face, but Uma placed a hand on his arm to stop him. Gil's mouth was faster than his brain (who could blame him, with that father", but he was a crew member and she wasn't in the mood for a brawl because she would be the one cleaning up afterwards.
"…stuck", Gil ended his sentence, realising that he should better shut up now. Uma sighed and turned around.
"That snooty little witch. Who grabbed everything she wanted and left me nothing." Harry put a hand on the table and leaned closer to her, their faces only a few inches apart. He was so much taller that he had to bend down quite a lot to be on the same eye-level.
"No, she left you that sandbox", Gil called out from behind her. "And then she said that you could have the shrimp."
Uma whirled around, her fist slapping the table. "I need you to stop talking." Her smile was foul. Harry moved closer again to try and lift his captain's spirits.
"Look, we have her turf now. They can sty in Bore-adon-"
"Harry!", she interrupted him immediately and pointed at the TV. "That's her turf now. And I want it too." To not have to look at Mal's ridiculously beach blonde hair anymore, she switched the TV off. "We should not be getting her leftovers. Son of Hook. Son of Gaston. And me, most of all, daughter of Ursula!" She turned to her crew mates and wrapped an arm around each of them, then pushed Gil back to the food he was still stuffing his face with. Facing Harry, she looked him straight in the eye.
"What's my name?"
Harry removed his pirate hat in a swift motion, pressed it to his chest and got to one knee in front of her. "Uma", he whispered passionately, the sound of her name rolling of his tongue like a praise.
"What's my name?", she repeated, this time at Gil. The blond pirate gulped down everything that he had stuffed his mouth with and his answer was more of a question. "Uma?"
"What's my name, what's my name?", she asked a third time, now looking at all the other pirates in the room.
"Uma!", they exclaimed in unison.
This is all hands on deck.
Calling out to lost boys and girls
I'm getting tired of disrespect.
Harry grinned like a madman and crashed his hands onto the table plate with the others. His food was forgotten, now he needed to dance. He grabbed his hook that he had let go of while eating and moved around the table.
We won't stop
Till we Rule the World
It's our time
We up next, next
Our sails about to be set, set
They seen nothing yet
Harry, now in front of the table, turned around to look at his captain. He bend his knee again to show her his submissiveness as her first mate. While he wouldn't ever bow down for anyone else, his loyalty to his captain was unmatched.
"Tell them who's in charge, so they don't forget", he and Uma sang at each other, their faces close again.
What's my name
What's my name
Uma
Say it louder
What's my name
What's my name
Uma
Feel the power
No one's gonna stop us
Soon the world will be ours
What's my name
What's my name
What's it, what's it
Say it out loud
Uma, who had been lifted onto the counter by her crew, pushed Gil down. The blonde fell down and did and rolled his body in a wave motion on the counter, matching the song everyone was singing. Like the queen she felt like, Uma stepped over the counter in a dramatic way and took Harry's hand, who followed her every move. He had grabbed his hook by the curve by now, grinning as if the world belonged to just the two of them.
What's it, what's it
Say it, say it
Uma-ah-ah
Uma, Uma la la Uma
Uma, Uma la la Uma
Uma, Uma la la Uma
Uma, Uma la la Uma
Uma
Said girl enjoyed her little show more and more, nothing raised her spirits and helped with group bonding like singing and dancing with her crew! She danced around and threw her long turquoise braids behind her. She bathed in the attention the others were giving her.
I'm the Queen of this town
I call the shots, you know who I am
I don't need to wear no fake crown
Stand up to me
You don't stand a chance
It's our time
We are next
Jonas, another member of her crew, approached Uma playfully after she pushed the hat off his head. He just wanted to play around, but felt cold metal pressed against his cheek all of the sudden. Harry had appeared behind him and forced him to turn his head away from Uma. With Harry, you never knew if he was joking and playing around or not. He could be cackling with you and threaten you a second later.
It's our time
We are next, next
My crew's as real as it gets, gets
The worst is now the best
Uma wielded the sword she had pulled out of Jonas' scabbard around as if she wanted to attack her mates and when she turned around, Harry was there again. He always knew when he had to be at her side.
"And leaving us here will be their last regret", they sang in unison while he slid his hook over her sword.
What's my name
What's my name
Uma
Say it louder
What's my name
What's my name
Uma
Feel the power
No one's gonna stop us
Soon the world will be ours
What's my name
What's my name
What's it, what's it
Say it, say it
Harry watched as Uma sat down in her throne that was decorated with shells and corals and felt like it was time for a little solo performance. He knew that he was an excellent dancer and would never miss a chance to impress his captain. He removed his long red coat and hung it over one shoulder while climbing on stage.
"You know what they say, bad girls have all the fun. Never learned how to count 'cause I'm number one", he sang while throwing his coat off and. walking up to the end of the stage where Uma was sitting and watching his every move. He made a show out of it, swayed and bent down in front of her. "Ready, here we come, we always get our way. It's a pirate's life, every single day!" He whirled around in front of his audience and spread his arms wide after a spectacular swirl, then pointed at Uma, who winked at him to show that she appreciated the little show he did for her. "Hey! She's the captain, I'm the first mate. Enemies sea-sick, can't see straight!", he continued as he swayed even harder. He moved his hips to the sides, tumbled skilfully and sank down in front of a blonde girl from their crew. "Call 'em fishbait, throw 'em on a hook." He jumped off the stage and got down in front of her throne. "Uma's so hot, they get burned if they look!", he finished, his thick accent giving the words even more meaning. The sea witch was pleased with the sight he offered her and got up to do some dance moves herself. Harry slid up to her and she ran a hand through his dark hair.
In the end, she was sitting on the counter, out of breath, but smiling and cheering along with the others. As she already said, nothing to lift the spirits like some singing and dancing! Harry offered his hand to her to help her off the counter and his fingers stayed locked with hers a second longer than necessary. She shot him a small smile and walked to the kitchen to get him new food. Her first mate saluted before attempting to eat for the second time.
See you in the next chapter! As already mentioned, I won't be only retelling the movie plot anymore.
