(WARNING: Very, very minor Secrets of Dumbledore Spoiler. I doubt you will notice it anyway if you haven't watched the movie yet, but it's there. And please watch Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore, it is a lot better than the Crimes of Grindlewald!)

Albus Dumbledore is going to die, and he knows it fairly well. However, knowing it is one thing, accepting it is another. He told a lot of people that dying is like going to sleep after a hard day of work, but when the time comes, he doubts the way he feels is as calm as the way he acts. He still hadn't said goodbye to Gellert.

Slowly, quietly as he is doing some sort of a crime, Dumbledore tiptoed to the very back of the room of requirement. He knows where he is going, and he knows that life can pass by while you are clinging on to a wish that can never know that life can pass you by while you are clinging on to a wish that can never be true. But that is it, the almost end of his life, it can't hurt to grant a wish, right?

As Dumbledore thought to himself, he reached a large object, covered by a dark cover. With a sharp movement of his wand, the cover magically folded itself. He walks up to the mirror, closed his eyes, and traced his hands to the letters 'erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi'. "My heart's desire", Albus whispered to himself.

Albus can almost hear the sound of his heart thumping underneath his chest, he has not felt that anxious and at the same time so scared to do something in ages. He could almost feel Grindlewald's long fingers sliding down his spine.

Slowly, Dumbledore opened his eyes. There he saw a blond man the same age as him, his once beautiful features shallowed by his time in prison. His eyes, once bright and full, now shimmered a wistful emptiness. His once silver blond hair turned to a crispy, dead-looking white, now tracing his thin face. Otherwise, Gellert Grindlewald is just as Albus remembered.

Gellert Grindlewald smiled as if saying" hey, let's just make that bad history together with ancient tales and forget about them, I'll love you again". Albus Dumbledore shook his head, remembering the blood pact breaks open. But an irrational part of his mind urged him to give Gellert a third chance and break open the doors of his prison to be with him.

In the mirror, Gellert opened his arm wide. Without thinking, Albus leaped into his arm. Albus would pay anything to be eighteen again and hug Gellert tight like he used to do. But the reality hit his way, as fast as his excited heart beats. He hit the mirror, and the mirror smashed his already broken nose. The pain sent him back to reality, he did not come here to be living in the past, pretending to have a person he couldn't have. He is just saying goodbye.

Albus Dumbledore back away from the mirror of erised, thinking to himself how an object like this can drive even the greatest wizards out of his mind. Then, so soft that only he could hear, he whispered the words goodbye, Gellert. The reflection of Gellert in the mirror seems to do a pleading expression that he always so when they are together.

Albus Dumbledore sneaked on the last glance at Gellert, then, as fast as the student sprinted to the great hall during lunch hours, he raced down the crowded room of requirements. He knocked over several desks, a dozen crystal balls, and a lot of other things that he doesn't have time to notice.

As Dumbledore sprinted toward the exit, he admired how all over the centuries people have things that they want to hide. When he reached the door that lead to the Hogwarts castle, he was panting and sweating from the run. He calmed himself up, went back to his office, and back to his life.

Albus Dumbledore did not expect to see Gellert anymore, in his life, in his afterlife, as a memory, as a person, or as a wish.

But things can happen…
