This is an idea I've had in my head for a while which in turn is part of a bigger idea that will be explained after the story. Anyway, enjoy.
Stoick sat at the end of the table with the fireplace behind him. To his left sat Queen Lillian with his friend Gobber sitting at her left. To his right sat his wife, Fiona, his son, Hiccup, and their friend Astrid. In front of him was King Harold, who wasn't happy that his daughter married a widowed barbarian as he called him. Plus, arriving at Far Far Away, on the backs of Dragons didn't seem to impress everyone. Especially when one of those dragons was the one that guarded the tower Fiona was locked up in.
Gobber was savoring the dish placed before him, having attached one of the utensils to where he places his prosthetics. "Mm! Who would've thought snails would taste this good?!"
Suddenly, the floor began to shake, cause everyone's chairs to almost fall over.
"I'll take care of this," Hiccup said nervously as he ran to the window and saw Toothless, Stormfly and Rosethorn (the dragon who guarded Fiona's tower) playing around. "Could you three settle down or go play somewhere else?!" he shouted. "We are trying to have dinner!"
The dragons moaned as they did what they were told.
"Sorry about that everyone" Hiccup sheepishly said as he sat back down. "Everything's under control."
"So, Fiona," said Lillian. "Tell us how you met your husband."
"Well actually, I met Stoick through Hiccup," replied Fiona.
"Oh, that's right," said Hiccup. "You see, what happened was after proving that I was worthy of fighting the Monstrous Nightmare, all these..."
"Excuse me," inquired Harold. "A Monstrous Nightmare?"
"Yes, it's a type of dragon back at Berk," said Astrid.
"Anyway," continued Hiccup, "all these fairy tale creatures ended up on Berk. So, Astrid, Toothless and I went to Duloc to talk with Lord Farquaad to see if he could relocate them. Otherwise, Dad would have had them eaten by dragons that once regularly attacked us."
"I only chose to go with him because I was suspicious of him at the time." Astrid added.
Hiccup then continued the story. "Of course, after we ended up unintentionally competing in and winning a tournament, Farquaad agreed to relocate the fairy tale creatures to another spot if we rescued Fiona. We agreed and we set off for the castle. One there, we rescued Fiona and I trained Rosethorn. We took them to Duloc, but Farquaad didn't like the fact that we brought Rosethorn with us as well as the fact that Fiona was cursed."
"And you should have seen what happened next," Astrid added. "Rosethorn ate Farquaad."
Lillian shuttered at the thought of a dragon eating someone.
"After we returned to Berk, we defeated the Red Death and I..." Hiccup continued before being interrupted.
"Red Death?" Harold inquired again.
"Another type of dragon," Astrid answered.
Harold was confused. "But I thought you were going to fight a Monstrous Nightmare."
"I was," Hiccup explained, "but then my dad saw I wasn't willing to fight it. And when we returned to Berk and he learned about Toothless, he used him to find the nest the Red Death lived in." After explaining, Hiccup then decided to get back on topic. "Anyway, we defeated the Red Death, I lost a foot, and I now have a stepmom."
"Fortunately, my kiss with Stoick broke the curse and I no longer turn into a monster at night," Fiona added.
"And a good thing too," added Gobber after sipping his drink. "A chief having an ogress for a wife doesn't seem fitting."
"My daughter marrying a widowed Viking on an island crawling with dragons. How original," Harold said sarcastically.
"Well, I suppose that would make things easier if the two of you decide to have children," said Lillian.
This caused Harold and Stoick to almost choke on their food/drinks and cough.
"No offense," said Stoick. "But I already have enough on my plate with one son. I don't need any more children."
"Agreed," grumbled Harold. "I just started eating."
"Harold!" Lillian scolded.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Stoick asked with a hint of agitation.
"Dad, it's great," Fiona tried to assure her father. "
"Well, for their kind of people, yes," said Harold as he gestured towards his stepson in law and the rest of his guest.
"Our kind of people?!" yelled Stoick.
"Why don't I give you some privacy," said Gobber nervously as he was about to leave. The kitchen doors then flew open as the head chef came out followed by his fellow cooks who were carrying lavish trays of food.
"Dinner is served!" The head chef exclaimed.
Gobber than sat back down, his mood changed to excitement upon hearing the chef's words. "Then again, that can wait."
The cooks than set the food onto the table. The dishes prepared consisted of roast turkey, lobster, fish roast suckling pig, baked ham, and a loaf of French bread with olives.
"Bon appetit," the chef said as he and the others left.
"Oh! Look at all this food! I'm in Valhalla!" Gobber said excitingly as he licked his lips.
"Well, let's not just sit here with our tummies rumbling. Everybody, dig in," offered Lillian
"Don't mind if I do, my lady." Gobber said happily as he attached a fork to his fork prostheses.
"So, I suppose that means your son is now officially my..." began Harold as he snatched the lobster before Gobber could sink his fork into it.
"Step grandson, yes." Stoick said as he took grabbed the roast turkey.
"I'm sure this marriage doesn't violate the laws of succession," Lillian said in order to try to settle the conflict. "Right, Harold?
"Oh, no! No! Of course, not!" said Harold before resuming his angry deminer and splitting the lobster. "That is assuming this isn't an excuse for you barbarians to plunder and pillage my kingdom!"
"Dad!" Fiona cried.
"Oh no! We usually pillage those who've been locked away in a tower!" Stoick roared as he ripped the legs off the turkey.
"Dad please!" Hiccup tried to intervene.
"I only did that because I love her!" Harold argued shoving his fork into a cub of meat and sticking it into a near
"Oh really! What kind of parent puts their daughter in a dragon guarded castle?" Stoick yelled back as he pulled the wishbone out of the turkey.
"You wouldn't understand! You are not her father!" Harold rebuked as he broke open one of the lobster's claws.
Throughout the argument, Stoick and Harold were making a mess of things as pieces of food went flying all over the place.
Lillan tried to remain optimistic. "It's so nice to have the family together for dinner."
Stoick and Harold reached for the suckling pig, tugging at both ends by the legs, only for both of them to lose their grip and the pig to be sent flying. This was followed by everyone calling each other's names.
"Harold!"
"Stoick!"
"Fiona!"
"Dad!"
"Fiona!"
"Mom."
"Harold."
"Stoick!"
"Hiccup!"
"Astrid!"
"Gobber!" Gobber chimed in resulting in him getting strange looks. "What? Nobody called my name."
The suckling pig then landed on the table. Infuriated by what she just saw, Fiona left the dining room. Harold still glared angrily while everyone else just watched her with concern.
"So, what's for dessert?" asked Gobber.
Thank you for reading. Just so you all know, this is a scene for a story concept that I've had in my head for a while. I have no plans on writing them, but anyone is welcome to adapt them if their interested.
Story 1: How to Train Your Dragon & Rescue a Princess at the Same Time
In this ideal story, instead of Shrek's swamp, Lord Farquaad places the fairytale creatures on Berk just as Gothi chooses Hiccup to fight the Monstrous Nightmare. Their appearance changes Hiccups motivation to leave Berk from running away to finding Lord Farquaad. We get the same flying scene with Astrid, but the three now go to Duloc instead of the Red Death's nest. After working together to beat the knights in Charming's tournament, the trio set off to rescue Princess Fiona. After a series of events that includes Hiccup training Dragon (whom he may give a name in this story), the defeats of Lord Farquaad and the Red Death, and Fiona's curse perhaps being lifted, Fiona marries Stoick and becomes Hiccup's stepmom.
Personal Note: Of course, seeing as Hiccup and Astrid would be utilizing Toothless when saving Fiona, it would take just one day to bring her to Duloc, thus creating a timeline where Farquaad does become king without interruption. But that's just a thought.
Story 2: How to Face Your Stepfamily
After Fiona and Stoick return from their honeymoon, They and Hiccup, receive an invitation to a royal ball with Fiona's parents to celebrate their marriage. They decide to go and bring Astrid and Gobber with them, using Toothless, Stormfly, and Rosethorn as transport. Like his initial reaction to Shrek, King Harold isn't pleased that his daughter being married to a "widowed barbarian." Much of the story remains the same as Shrek 2's, but with Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless, and Stormfly going to the Fairy Godmother's factory while Stoick stays behind and tries to make things right with King Harold. Other alterations include Hiccup himself drinking the Happily Ever After potion just to make sure that his dad doesn't suffer any ill effects. Also, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut would eiter team up with Gingy, Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, The Big Bad Wolf, and the Three Blind Mice or just simply take their place. Also, the use of dragons would replace the need for Mongo should there be a conflict with the Fairy Godmother.
Personal Note: We could have Stoick also go to the Fairy Godmother's factory as well and have him drink the Happily Ever After potion just to keep the theme of the original Shrek 2. But that's just a thought.
Story 3: How to Rule a Kingdom
As for what would happen next, that's what I'm trying to figure out. It could follow the course of Shrek the Third, minus the pregnant Fiona subplot, but only if stepchildren aren't allowed to inherit kingdoms. Otherwise, we could have the story be about Stoick becoming King of Far Far Away with Fiona as his queen. Of course, with the dragons around, Prince Charming and the fairytale villains would definitely loose.
Story: 4: How to Prevent a War (If You're Successful Enough)
Now here comes the alternate take on the How to Train Your Dragon 2 storyline. If we have Artie inherit the throne, the story will remain the same with Drago attacking Berk, but with Fiona along for the ride. However, if we go along with Stoick being king and such, we could see Drago attack Far Far Away. In both versions, we'd have an interesting interaction between Fiona and Valka, if you know what I mean. Also, Hiccup becoming King of Far Far Away would be a nice nod to his book counterpart becoming King of the Wilderwest.
Story 5: How to Know What's Best for Both Dragons and People
When trying to figure out how to treat the How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World storyline, there are two options. Going by the Artie being king course, instead of New Berk, the Hooligan tribe would more likely relocate to Far Far Away thanks to peaceful relationships. If we go by Hiccup being king, there would be no need to relocate as he would be ruling a nation who's defense systems would be made up of dragons and knights. Both versions would involve The Hidden World.
These are just my thoughts, but you are welcome to go your own direction should you chose to adapt these ideas.
Anyway, feel free to leave a review and happy reading and happy writing everyone!
