"You were fighting a monster from your childhood?" asked Clover while the girls followed Martin.
"Yeah, and it nearly got me, but Martin managed to kill it with a laser gun he has," said Alex.
"But what I'm wondering is why were you two already together and not in a nightmare scape like Martin's team and I?" she asked while looking from the girls to the boy that was leading their way.
"The book makes you fall for your worst nightmare in order to feed off of your life energy," said Martin.
"For Alex it was facing a monster she had long forgotten about, as for you two it was most likely losing Alex that you fear the most so it left you in the void where you were unable to reach her," he said.
"Alright, but why couldn't we get to her no matter how much we ran but you could?" asked Sam.
"Like I said, your fear was that you were separated from her, so of course you weren't able to find her, but since that's not my fear I was able to enter her nightmare scape in time to save her," said Martin.
"What is your fear, Martin?" asked Alex.
"I'm in the same boat as them, afraid that I can't reach my friends no matter how much trouble they are in," said Martin.
"So, I hate to ask you this so suddenly, but can you please go in and save the two of them for me?" he asked once they approached two spheres of red light which were floating in the middle of the darkness.
"This doesn't look good," said Clover.
"We can't leave here until the two are free, and if they aren't soon then the book will have managed to drain every drop of their life energies," said Martin who tightened his fists out of frustration.
"Don't worry, we'll get them back," said Alex while placing a reassuring hand on the boy's shoulder.
"Yeah, we never said that we wouldn't help," said Sam. Alex then went into the sphere on the right while Clover and Sam took the left one.
"Please bring them back safely," said a worried Martin.
