My name is Henry Hoben. It is once again that lovely time of the year dedicated to showing those close to you love and appreciation. That's just what I'm going to do with a certain bear gal.
It was a bright and sunny day; I was humming a tune as I made my way to Animal Village holding several Valentine gifts for the animals for being so nice to me. Upon entering, I was greeted by the beaming smiles of many villagers who have organized a Valentine's Day party.
"Happy Valentine's Day everyone!" I exclaimed as I began to make my rounds ensuring each animal got a Valentine. Everyone was really pleased at the gifts I gave them,
to which I was happy as a lark to hear their thanks. All the while, everyone had a great time partying and hanging out.
After a while, there was only one more villager left: Pinky. Oddly enough, I couldn't seem to find her despite searching the sea of animals for her presence; even after asking some of the others...
"Chrissy! Francine!" I called to the duo.
"Henry? What's up?" Chrissy asked.
"Have any of you seen Pinky around? It's not like her to miss this event."
"Well, I did catch sight of her running away." Francine replied. "She didn't seem really happy."
Concerned for Pinky, I decided to get to the bottom of this. I hightailed it over to Pinky's home, but when I got there, I heard what sounded like her crying. This isn't like the very peppy Pinky I'm familiar with, so something must be seriously wrong. I gave a couple of gentle knocks on the door and waited.
"W-who is it?" Pinky called out through sniffles.
"It's me, Henry." I replied back. "Is everything okay in there?"
"Not particularly." she moaned. "Please come in and make me feel better cubbie."
Without hesitation, I entered the house and laid eyes on Pinky sitting in her chair sobbing. It broke my heart just seeing her like this. My first instinct was to go over and gently hug her.
"There, there." I softly spoke. "Henry's here to help you up when you're down."
As Pinky slowly stopped crying, a luminescent blush travelled across her face as a small smile crawled its way around.
"Th-thank you Henry." she responded.
"You're welcome." I chirped. "So Pinky, tell me what's bothering you. Did something devastating happen to you?"
Pinky slightly frowned. "Well, devastating is a way to put it. I'm currently feeling very down right now."
"Oh? What's wrong?" I inquired.
"Well, I've been doing some thinking about myself. In spite of how peppy I usually am, I seem to get the vibe that no one loves me. Every time I try asking one of the guys out, they flat out reject me and I don't know why! I guess I'm nothing but a mistake."
Pinky looked like she was welling up again. Shocked, I quickly took action.
"Those guys have no idea what they're missing!" I declared.
Pinky looked over to me and wiped her tears. "Really?"
"Most certainly; you are easily the sweetest and most awesome girl I've ever met, not to mention that you really inspire me a lot."
Pinky's expression switched to a flattered one. "R-really!? Wow...thank you very much cubbie."
"Also, I have a gift made specifically with you in mind." I stated as I presented her the pink gift box. Pinky looked up at it and delicately placed it on her lap. "Go ahead, open it."
She did as told and, the minute she peered inside, was marvelled at what she saw. She pulled out a beautiful pink bow.
"Wow, Henry! It's really pretty!" she gushed. "Thank you so much!"
I blushed. "Again, you're very welcome Pinky. Would you like me to put it on for you?"
Pinky likewise went red in the face. "Sure Henry. I'd be glad if you did."
I proceeded to place the bow onto her head before handing her a mirror.
"It's a wonderful addition to my look...specially since it was picked by you." she cooed, giving a wink at my reflection.
I chuckled as I kicked my foot shyly. Pinky then turned and started to approach me with a seductive face.
"Now, it's time for me to repay your act of kindness my cubbie."
She then planted a big kiss onto my lips. At first, I was rather surprised, but I eventually melted into the kiss. After a moment, we released and gazed into each other's line of sight.
"That was wonderful..." I managed to utter during my trance.
Pinky giggled. "I could say the same."
An idea then came across my mind.
"That reminds me; would you like to be my partner at the Valentine's Party dance?"
Pinky's jaw practically dropped at that, before forming into a big grin as she squealed in delight and squeezed me like a plushie.
"YES!" she beamed.
I smiled as I hugged her back, knowing that the Pinky I know and love has returned in full force.
=== THAT NIGHT ===
Everyone had arrived just outside of town at the location of the Valentine's Party dance, with me and Pinky right in the back. K.K. Slider made his way onto a stage to kick things off.
"Good evening. Are you all ready for a wonderful night together?"
Everyone cheered.
"That's great to hear! Let's start with the jammin' "K.K. Disco". Hit it!"
As soon as the song played, everyone was grooving along in time to the music. Pinky and I faced each other.
"Wanna do a dance battle?" Pinky asked cutely.
"Sure. Ladies first."
Pinky proceeded to do a series of robotic style moves finishing with a twirl and striking a pointing pose at me. As if on cue, I did the wave and several disco points before posing similarly.
With each line sung, Pinky and I busted some moves one after the other, sometimes adding in some flirting. This caught the attention of some of the others.
"I'm so glad Pinky is out of her depression." Francine said proudly.
Her partner, Doc, agreed. "Do credit Henry for lifting her spirits up."
After a while, the disco song ended and a new one began as K.K spoke.
"Now, let's slow things down a notch with K.K. Love Song".
All the animals started to slow dance with each other. I grabbed Pinky by the waist while she held me by the shoulders as we gently swayed side to side locked into each other's eyes.
"I love you Henry." she whispered.
"And I love you too Pinky." I whispered back.
As we continued to dance, we moved in for another kiss, this time lasting longer than last time.
=== AFTER THE PARTY... ===
The animals were ready to call it a night, all returning to their homes for some sleep. Pinky, however, wasn't quite done with me yet.
"Henry! Would you like to bunk with me tonight?" she asked with a loving expression.
"R-really!? Sure, I'd be glad to!" I replied.
"You know Henry." she started as we held hands. "It's nice to know that there are people like you, willing to go the extra mile, cubbie."
I blushed again. "Awww, thank you Pinky."
And so we went back to her house and got ready for bed. I was first to arrive in her bed waiting for her arrive. After a moment, she showed up.
"Comfy?" Pinky questioned while biting her lip.
"Yep." I said nodding my head. "Easily the comfiest bed ever."
She giggled. "Well, things are about to get even more comfy at this rate my cubbie."
After killing the lights, she climbed into bed and snuggled right into me.
"Good night Henry."
"Sweet dreams to you too Pinky."
Likewise, I cuddled into her as we slowly drifted off to sleep.
